Our hovercraft waited, anchored offshore. We were looking for a rare Fancy Pants Pearl. To get to it, Kiwi and I leapt between huge boulders. I enjoy boulder-jumping: sizing up the gap, getting a running start, and hurtling through the air. There’s always a terrifying moment when I wonder if I will hit solid rock—or if I’ll fall down, down, down . . . which is what happened next.

I missed the boulder by a good three feet. As I fell, I glanced up and saw Kiwi sail over my head. He nailed the landing, which meant he beat me at boulder-jumping. That hurt. But not nearly as bad as crash-landing after a 30-foot drop. That’s why I never boulder-jump without wearing my BlasterPack. Before hitting the ground, I flipped it on and the blast of air gave me a gentle landing.

Acts 2:1-41

God is able to do far more than we could ever ask for

or imagine. He does everything by his power

that is working in us.

Ephesians 3:20 (NIrV)

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ

has become a new person. The old life is gone;

a new life has begun!

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great

is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is

beyond comprehension! Psalm 147:4-5 (NLT)

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust

in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the

4. What’s This Say about God?5. What’s This Say about Us?

What’sA. All who believed in Jesus met together on the day of Pentecost. A sound like a strong wind came from heaven and filled the house. They saw what looked like tongues of fire settling on each of them. The Holy Spirit filled every believer. He gave them power to speak languages they didn’t know.

B. Jews from all over the world were in Jerusalem for Pentecost. They heard the believers speaking in their own languages. They were confused and amazed. They said, “These people are from Galilee, but we are from all over the world. How do they speak our languages?”

C. Peter stood and spoke to the crowd. He said, “Let me explain this to you. Long ago, God said, ‘I will give my Spirit to my servants.

Through my Spirit, they will prophesy.’” Peter explained, “Jesus came from God and showed you many miracles. Evil men helped you crucify Him, but God brought Him back to life. We know this because we have seen Him. Now Jesus is with God, and He has given us the Holy Spirit. You killed Him, but God has made Him Lord.”

D. When the people heard this, it had an effect on them. They asked, “What can we do?”

E. Peter answered, “Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus. He will forgive your sins and give you the Holy Spirit.”

Everyone who believed Peter’s message was baptized. About 3,000 people became believers that day.

That was good, but it got better.I landed in an old Pearl Pool—a rare tide pool

filled with pearls instead of water. Imagine a ball pit where every plastic ball is replaced with a glimmering big white pearl worth a gazillion dollars. (By the way, I’m glad I didn’t land in the Periwinkle Pearl Pool we found last year. My tongue got tied in knots trying to say Periwinkle Pearl Pool three times fast.) I yelled at Kiwi to come join me.

Kiwi BlasterPacked down to the pool of baseball-sized Fancy Pants Pearls. There were 3,000! Have you ever heard of a number that big? What a miracle! Of course, we only took one pearl to display on the relic wall. The rest needed to stay so others could enjoy this amazing hidden wonder. I couldn’t have been happier—until Kiwi pointed out it was his tenth time in a row to win at boulder-jumping. Next time, Kiwi, next time.
