NIGHT BEFORE Briefing of the expedition in Puerto Natales Our local guide will meet the participants at the night before the expedition to give general information about this adventure, to confirm pick up time, to solve some doubts the participants might have and to deliver the equipment that PATAGONIAN FJORDS and BIGFOOT supplies with.

DAY 1 Alacalufes Path - Hermann glacier We pick up the participants of the expedition from the Hotel around 09:00 am, then we take a boat to navigate 5 minutes from Puerto Natales to Antonio Varas peninsula, across Señoret channel. We continue by vehicle for 1 hour through a gravel road to Estancia Mercedes, where we take our fast boat Explorador IV and navigate for one more hour until the end of the Resi fjord, the entrance of Kawesqar National Park. During the navigation it is posible to watch seals, dolphins, penguins, cormorants, condors, and other species.

From Resi fjord we must hike about 20 minutes to reach the lagoon Acantilados, which is incased between huge rock walls and the only way to go across it is by boat, so we have to navigate 5 minutes to get to the other side of it to continue hiking 60 more minutes to reach Huiros bay. Here the boat West Patagonia will take us to the floating refuge Explorador to enjoy of a tasty lunch.

After lunch, we will go to the coast with our expert guide in kayaking who will make a safety and navigation talk, which will take about 30 minutes. Once finished, we begin paddling west, leaving the Huiros bay to go across the fjord of the Mountains up to the end of Hermann Fjord, passing between small icebergs to finally reach the glacier of the same name. During the crossing, it's possible to see different marine and bird species, but especially Imperial Cormorants, since these species make the Hermann fjord their home, being possible to see hundreds of these birds nesting and flying around the huge rock walls that surround the fjord, turning this place into a very special one, known as "Cormorant Sanctuary".

DAY 2 Bernal glacier - Return to Puerto Natales After a rich breakfast, we will go rowing to Bernal glacier, leaving the Huiros bay and getting crossing the fjord of the Mountains, taking one approximately. We disembark in the coast of the Bernal glacier and hike through a particular trail with colorful moraines that cross a pro-glacier lake, allowing us to get close and safe enough to touch its ice. This permits us to watch and understand the glacier movements and how it changes the landscape through the years. The contrast of colors between the vegetation, the ice, the mountains and the fjord in the background, makes any picture postcard worthy. We get back on the kayaks to return to the floating Refuge to enjoy a delicious and well deserved lunch, before starting the return to Puerto Natales.

We begin the return to Natales hiking the Alacalufes Path back to Resi fjord, same route we did to enter.

In Resi fjord we meet again our fast boat Explorador IV to navigate until Estancia Mercedes where we can stop a moment and meet the family and get to know their amazing history while sharing a mate by the heat of a chimney. We’ll have our lunch on the boat ride to the Estancia.

Later we continue the way to Puerto Natales, finishing this expedition around 15:00 pm. Weather permitting.
