GH-18282176The Color Box
The Color Box is a new kind of museum experience. It welcomes citypeople to enjoy art at its best - displayed in an outstandingenvironment. Its external form stems from surrounding buildings. The height and orthogonal shape respect the existing architectureand simultaneously bring a fresh and exciting new layer to the citystructure.
Sculpture park in front of the museum brings tourists and residentsto delight in a new urban area.
The building itself has four stories. The ground !oor is accessible toall with a café and a museum shop. Indoor surfaces are mainlywooden. One low corner of the building has been sliced to create aninteresting public space and a clear entrance.
The building facade is covered with movable colorful panels. Theyprovide shade from excessive sunlight. Panels are painted in adi"erent color on each side, so the building gives a varying visualimpact depending from which angle it is observed. For example, from Market Square point of view (as seen above) the buildingappears blue, and from the sea it appears red.
