The height and orthogonal shape respect the existing architecture and simultaneously bring a fresh and exciting new layer to the city structure. Sculpture park in front of the museum brings tourists and residents to delight in a new urban area. The building itself has four stories. The ground oor is accessible to all with a café and a museum shop. Indoor surfaces are mainly wooden. One low corner of the building has been sliced to create an interesting public space and a clear entrance. The building facade is covered with movable colorful panels. They provide shade from excessive sunlight. Panels are painted in a dierent color on each side, so the building gives a varying visual impact depending from which angle it is observed. The Color Box is a new kind of museum experience. It welcomes citypeople to enjoy art at its best - displayed in an outstandingenvironment. The main entrance penetrates the slope and brings visitors to an open, two-story highentrance plaza. After purchasing a ticket and leaving coat to visitor services, museumguests proceed to the upper !oor galleries.

Museum store and café are interconnected and open for public. Café can be enteredthrough the entrance plaza and the museum store, as well as straight from outside.

Conference hall and classroom are easily accessible from the entrance plaza. Loading dockspace in the corner of the building can be used by two trucks simultaneously and providesa straight access to art storage, to kitchen and to elevator to upper !oors.

1st !oor

Visitors arrive to a multi-purpose zone with a view to South Harbour. The space can beused for events and for exhibitions. Exhibition galleries circle the entrance plaza and themain plaza. O"ces and operations facilities are separated from the visitor area.

2nd !oor

View gallery welcomes visitors to an open space: exhibition plaza on the other side andview to South Harbour on the other. The exhibition gallery to the north is a wide space thatcan be transformed to suit almost any kind of exhibition by adding partitions.

At the north end of the building there´s a two-story high gallery with a view towardsMarket Square.

In the middle of the circulation there's a craftsroom where visitors themselves can createart and rest for a while. On the south corner of the building there's another two-storygallery with an open view towards Tähtitorninvuori Park.

3rd !oor

This !oor resembles the 2nd !oor with a few exceptions. The restaurant and bar have anexceptional outlook to South Harbour. During exhibition circulation, visitors are able tooverlook to two-story high view galleries
