These cities belong to Kathmandu and Bhaktapur districts (Nepal). It also includes the municipality limits and its corresponding name. The urban extent vectors are obtained by digitalisation from visual interpretation of the Landsat images from 1972 until 2014. The accuracy shown in the map is according with the resolution of the images that have been used and it is, in general, equivalent to a 1:100,000 scale. The statistical table included in this map shows the urban extent in square kilometres for each year and for each city. E-mail: [email protected] The products elaborated in the framework of current mapping in non-rush mode activation are realised to the best of our ability, within a very short time frame during a crisis, optimising the available data and information. All geographic information has limitations due to scale, resolution, date and interpretation of the original data sources. The products are compliant with the GIO-EMS non-rush Product Portfolio specifications. The core user of the map is the DG ECHO/DG JRC, supporting the Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium (NRRC). The potential additional users of the map are humanitarian aid operators. The purpose of the requested maps is to provide comprehensive knowledge of the territory and assets in disaster risk reduction contexts.
