Cutting All strips are cut across the width of fabric (wof).

Fabric A, cut:(3) 3 " x wof strips; crosscut into (30) 3 "squares. Cut each square once diagonally toyield (60) half square triangles.

Fabric B, cut:(12) 1 " x wof strips

Fabric C, cut:(3) 7¼" x wof strips; crosscut into (15) 7¼"squares. Cut each square twice diagonally toyield (60) quarter square triangles.

(4) 4¼" x wof strips; crosscut into (30) 4¼"squares. Cut each square twice diagonally toyield (120) quarter square triangles.

Fabric D, cut:(3) 3 " x wof strips; crosscut into (30) 3 " squares(7) 1½" x wof inner border strips

Making Block A 1. With the fabric B strip in the middle, sew two 1 "fabric A strips and one fabric B strip together alongtheir long edges to make a strip set. Press the seamallowances toward the A strips. Make eight stripsets. Cut the strip sets into (60) 4¾" wide segmentsand (15) 1 " wide segments.

2. With the fabric A strip in the middle, sew twofabric B strips and one fabric A strip together alongtheir long edges to make a strip set. Press the seamallowances toward the A strips. Make two stripsets. Cut the strip sets into (30) 1 " widesegments.

3. Sew one segment from step 2 between two 1 "wide segments from step 1 to make a nine patchunit. Press the seam allowances toward the centersegment. Make 15 nine patch units.

4. Lay out four 4¾" wide segments from step 1, onenine patch unit from step 3, four 3 " fabric Atriangles, and four 7¼" fabric C triangles as shown.Sew the pieces together in rows and then sew therows together to complete block A. Make 15 Ablocks.

Making Block B 1. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on thewrong side of each 3 " fabric C square. Pair amarked square with a fabric D square, right sidestogether, and sew ¼" on each side of the markedline. Cut the squares apart on the drawn line. Pressthe seam allowances toward fabric D. Make 60triangle square units.

2. Sew 4¼" fabric C triangles to adjacent sides ofeach 2 " fabric E square. Then sew 3 " fabric Ftriangles to the unit as shown to make a side unit.Make 60 side units.

3. Lay out four triangle squares from step 1, fourside units, and one fabric G square in a nine patcharrangement. Sew the pieces together in rows andthen sew the rows together to complete block B.Make 15 B blocks.

Assembling the Quilt 1. Lay out the A blocks and B blocks in six rows offive blocks each, alternating the A and B blocks ineach row and from row to row as shown in thephoto and the assembly diagram below.

2. Sew the blocks together in rows; pressing theseam allowances toward the A blocks. Then sewthe rows together and press the seam allowancesin one direction. The quilt top should measure60½" x 72½".

3. For the inner border; sew the 1½" wide fabric Dstrips together end to end. Cut (2) 72½" long sideborder strips and (2) 62½" long strips for the topand bottom border. Sew the strips to the quilt topand press.

4. For the middle border; sew the 1¾" wide fabric Estrips together end to end. Cut (2) 74½" long sideborder strips and (2) 64½" long strips for the topand bottom border. Sew the strips to the quilt topand press.

5. For the outer border; sew the 5½" wide fabric Hstrips together end to end. Cut (2) 76½" long sideborder strips and (2) 74½" long strips for the topand bottom border. Sew the border strips to thequilt top and press.

6. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing;baste. Quilt as desired. Sew the 2¼" binding stripstogether end to end and bind the edges to finish.
