Goal- See if their research helps your thesis Slide 3 TOPIC SENTENCES By now, you should have your thesis statement written and you should have your ideas to backup your thesis statement. Thesis: Through relationships, and character interactions, Hamlets downfall was not being able to sort through what existed versus what did not exist Idea 1: Belief that Ghost was real How do you turn it into a topic sentence? Ask yourself how that idea will help you prove your thesis Example: One of the central problems in the play is whether or not the ghost is reliable and whether or not Hamlet actually interacted with the ghost. Slide 4 GROUP DISCUSSION With your groups discuss your ideas that will support your thesis. Together, help each other write one of your topic sentences. Slide 5 GROUP WHIP We are going to go around the room and hear one topic sentence from each group. Slide 6 EXIT SLIP After writing one together, how do you feel about tackling the rest of your paper?
