Dear Friends,

Summer is just around the corner, andstudents (and teachers) are anxiouslyawaiting their last day of classes. The2012-13 school year was a busy one forour Education Department. One hundredand sixty-five students competed inScholastic Scrimmage, more than 1,200students and their guardians took part inthe Raising Readers literacy program,and the Cops N’ Kids Celebration ofReading event was a huge success, asPBS39 donated hundreds of books andother fun giveaways to local families.

A special thank you to all of ourhardworking facilitators and educationalpartners!

As summer begins, so does an arrayof pledge programs that are both inspir-ing and entertaining. The popular Italiangroup Il Volo will stop by the PBS39studios to record fundraising breaks fortheir newest PBS special ‘We Are Love.’Watch for it to air June 3rd at 8:30pm.

I am also looking forward to two ter-rific events coming up this month, theCapture Greater Lehigh Valley Book Re-lease Party on June 5 and the PBS39MicroBrew Festival on June 22. At theCapture Party, come out to The BaumSchool of Art and be one of the first tosee which photographs made it intoprint. This event is free and open to thepublic.

This year’s MicroBrew Fest features 37brewers and more than 100 brews. Livemusic, vendors, and microbrews… what’snot to love?
