Many need a fair amount of dental work and they don’t know how to go about getting coverage. If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan (ex: UnitedHealthcare Plan 4 or Sharp plan, or the SCAN Classic plan), these plans have an optional dental rider that you can choose. They have small monthly premiums, usually priced between $2.50 to $20, depending on the plan and level of coverage. There are several important things to know about this coverage: 1. This is HMO insurance, so many dentists will not accept it. 2. Some of those dentists that do accept it, may try to “upsell” you services you may or may not need - be wary. Get a second opinion if you are unsure. 3. You do get discounts on services provided. Very recently we have come across what looks like a terrific alternative to this HMO insurance. Magnum Dental is a PPO dental plan with some really wonderful benefits: * Access to a nationwide dental network * 100% preventative care with no waiting periods * Competitive priced dental benefits * Plans with up to $5,000 annual maximum benefit/$2,500 for major services * Some limited Adult orthodontic included * Teeth whitening included * Discount Vision included with every dental plan * Vision gives you access to more than 75,000 optometrists and retail optical providers * Many locations open 7 days/week (some on weekends) If you are not satisfied with your current plan, or want to see the additional benefits offered by Magnum Den- tal, you can get quotes by contacting me at (858) 753-1920, or go to our website and getting quotes yourself: www.BridlewoodInsurance.com. One of the most often talked about topics with Seniors is Dental Insurance.

Magnum Dental is a PPO dental plan with some really wonderful benefits:

* Access to a nationwide dental network * 100% preventative care with no waiting periods * Competitive priced dental benefits * Plans with up to $5,000 annual maximum benefit/$2,500 for major services

* Some limited Adult orthodontic included * Teeth whitening included * Discount Vision included with every dental plan * Vision gives you access to more than 75,000 optometrists and retail optical providers * Many locations open 7 days/week (some on weekends) If you are not satisfied with your current plan, or want to see the additional benefits offered by Magnum Den-tal, you can get quotes by contacting me at (858) 753-1920, or go to our website and getting quotes yourself: www.BridlewoodInsurance.com. DENTAL . . . Helping You Put Your $$ Where Your Mouth Is

June Funnies (Please do not read if you are easily offended!)

Cats & Dogs

A firefighter is working on the engine outside the station when he no-

tices a little boy next door in a little red wagon with tiny ladders hung

off the side and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle. The boy is wearing a firefighter's

helmet and has the wagon tied to a dog and

a cat. The firefighter walks over to take a

closer look. "That sure is a nice fire truck,"

the fire fighter says with admiration.

"Thanks," says the little boy. As the fire-

fighter looks a little closer, he notices the

boy has tied the wagon to the dog's collar

and to the cat's testicles.

"Little partner," the firefighter says, "I don't

want to tell you how to run your fire truck,

but if you were to tie that rope around the

cat's collar, I think you could go faster."

The little boy says, "You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren."

Dam Fish A boy is selling fish on a corner. To get his customers' atten-

tion, he is yelling, "Dam fish for sale! Get your dam fish

here!" A pastor hears this and asks, "Why are you calling

them 'dam fish.'" The boy responds, "Because I caught these

fish at the local dam." The pastor buys a couple fish, takes

them home to his wife, and asks her to cook the dam fish.

The wife responds surprised, "I didn't know it was accepta-

ble for a preacher to speak that way." He explains to her

why they are dam fish. Later at the dinner table, he asks his son to pass the dam fish.

He responds, "That's the spirit, Dad! Now pass the flippin’ potatoes!"

Barbershop

A guy stuck his head in to a barbershop and asked, “How long before I can

get a haircut?” The barber looked around the shop full of customers and

said, “About 2 hours.” The guy left.

A few days later, the same guy stuck his head in the door and asked, “How

long before I can get a haircut?” The barber looked around the shop and

said, “About 3 hours.” The guy left.

A week later, the same guy stuck his head in the shop and asked the same

question. The barber looked around the shop and said, “About an hour and a

half.” The guy left.

The barber turned to his friend and said, Hey, Bob, do me a favor, follow him and see where he

goes. He keeps asking how long the wait is for a haircut, but he never comes back.”

A little while later, Bob returns to the shop, laughing hysterically. The barber asks, “So, where

does he go when he leaves?” Bob looks up, wipes the tears from his eyes and says,“Your house!”

Personal Notes: The first week of May I flew back to Minnesota to help my daughter who’s attending the Uni-versity of Minnesota, pack up all her worldly belongings and drive the boxes down to my mom’s house for storage for the summer. My mom lives on a beautiful lake in south central Minnesota. Did you ever watch “Little House on the Prairie”, and remember them saying they were going to load up the wagon and drive into the big town of Mankato? Well I grew up about 8 miles outside of Mankato in a tiny farm community of 400 souls, called St. Clair. This lovely little town had all the usual features; 2 stop signs, a school which housed all classes - kindergarten through 12th grade, a bank, a post office, a gas station, 3 churches and 1 bar. About 30 years ago my dad and mom built their dream house on Reed’s Lake, about 20 miles from St. Clair. Jeff’s dad lives on Lake Tetonka, about 3 miles from my parent’s place. Luckily our family is very tight-knit, so when we moved to California, Jeff and I promised to get back to Minnesota with our kids at least once a year. For 33 years we’ve kept that promise, and actually almost every year we have actually gone back twice a year. The kids love spending two weeks each summer and a week at Christmas with their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. They really enjoy swimming, boating, skiing and fishing in the summer, and ice-skating, sledding, ice-fishing and building snow forts in the winter. After we unpacked her boxes and spent a few days enjoying the wonderful spring weather, we loaded up her clothes, a cooler of drinks and snacks and her 3-year old dauschund, Cali, and began our trek back to Poway. We drove for 13 hours that first day to get across southern Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska and stopped for the night in Sterling, Colorado. The next day we dropped Cali off at a doggy daycare and spent the afternoon in the picturesque town of Glenwood Springs, CO, taking advantage of their natural hotsprings. We left late afternoon and spent the night in Richfield, Utah. The next morning we took off for Las Vegas, and had lunch on the patio in front of the Paris Hotel, rode the High Roller ferris wheel, and watched the waterworks show in front of the Bellagio. We were home by 9:00 that night, and Cali, Lexy and Anthony were reunited. We made it back just in time to attend Anthony’s graduation from University of the Pacific, as a pharmacist. We have our first doctor in the family!! It was really nice to have a “girls road trip” and a graduation to create a lot of new, fun memories.

Wishing all Dads a Happy Father’s Day!
