Calling all very young archaeologists! Little Diggers is for all those who like to dig, delve and discover for themselves all about objects and stories from the past. Aimed at children aged 2 to 5 years the session takes place in our dedicated early years’ area and creates a safe and relaxed space for children to play and explore.

Sessions begin at 10.30am on Saturday morning and refreshments are available on site. Special discounts are available for children who join our ‘Little Diggers’ club. Due to the popularity of the sessions pre-booking is essential.

It can be anything at all, from images of rolling hills to embroidered Yorkshire pudding and can be painted, drawn, written - whatever you like! Sessions are free of charge but places are limited due to space so please pre-book to avoid disappointment.

By the late fourteenth century the celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi in York had developed into a series of religious pageants acted out by the guilds of York and drawn around the city on carts. An annual event for almost 200 years, these evolved into the modern Mystery Plays. Join author Nicky Rogers to follow the same route taken by the wagons over 600 years ago.
