1. On behalf of the Comdt and all rks of CME, we extend a warm welcome to you for attending course at the College. CME is loC in the city of Pune, Maharashtra).

2. CME is a premier Cat 'A' Est responsible for imparting trg to offrs and JEs / JCOs / OR

) f. Corps of Enars. selected pens from CPO, PMF. Civ agencies and Friendly Foreign Countries. The Course will he conducted at the SEMT Wg CME Pune. A brief on CME is at

Appx A.

Conduct of Course

Aim. To train students in soil investigation and pavement evaluation.

4. Scope. The students should be able to understand the basic properties of soil, various tests carried out in field and labs to determine the properties and strength of pavements as also to understand the behavior of soil under various field conditions. It also prOvides basic knowledge of pavement evaluation techniques.

5. OR incl Medical Category. MES supervisory staff of Gde-I and Gde-II level (Mil / Civ). You should be in requisite med cat as per SAO 6/5/89. Documents to be carried are at

Appx B to E.

G. Duration / Block Syllabus. Block syllabus including duration of the course is at

7. Method of Instructions.

(a) Lectures and presentations.

(b) Tutorials and discussions.

(c) Laboratory work.

Study material. The students are reqd to carryout preparation for the course as ner

details given below:-

9. VVIcg Hrs. On wkg days, classes are conducted from 0815h to 14o0h. The timings may extend to evening hrs as per reqmt. Students will maintain punctuality and will be sealed

in the class five min prior to the commencement of the class.

10. You are reqd to intimate the dt and time of your arr by AWAN / telegram to Dy Dir

CME, it is not practically feasible to provide veh for each Offr / JCO / JE on an Hence,

common transport may be provided to a group of students.

. CME bus regularly leaves for Pune Rly stn at 1530 hrs and returns from Pune Rly Stn

at 1700 hus for CME. This facility may be availed by the students reaching Pune Stn. Er,/\,

--a.; fvvd oer format at Appx J. In case you arrive without intimating your ETA, you may

12. Accn will be provided to students as per their rk / Designation. Students are not

permitted to make arng within CME Campus or Pune with friends and relatives for their slay. Under no circumstances Lady/Gent Guests will be entertained in accommodation inside CM,

Pune Campus.

13. Tpt, other than for official vie and tours, is NOT provided to students attending course_

in CME. For the first two days of the course, bus !mini bus will be provided for mov from Mess ,, Oass room and back. For hal pd, bus can be arranged on payment or two wheelers may he

iTp:m the mkt_ However. students can bring their own veli at their own expense. Inc the event of hiring / possessing a two wheeler, it is mandatory to wear crash helmet while riing the same. The pillion rider, if any, will also be reqd to wear a crash helmet. It may be noted that two wheelers and four wheelers are not allowed in the college on Wed & Sat when only

cycles are to be used. Cycles can be hired locally.
