Development and implementation of communications strategies: develop relevant communications strategies in line with project requirements and develop content to implement these (i.e. audience targeted content for decision makers, community, implementing partners) – 15%

Content development and creation: develop evidence-based content outlining the results and learnings throughout the implementation of the projects in line with project manager requirements and supported by the Communications Team Leader. This includes, but is not limited to: video production of social media snippets and editing, infographic development, social media campaigns, written stories, photography, project briefs sent to countries and targeted products for key audience identified in the communications strategy such as case studies – 50%

Publication development: work with graphic designers to complete required publication design and work with administration teams to have publications printed where required – 5%

Website management: load relevant content to the PIEMA project and PCRAFI web pages on the GEM Website and other external sites as required by the project – 10%

Graphic Design: design skills to develop infographics for social media, factsheets and/or relevant snapshots of results achieved in the projects for reporting – 10%

Media management: development of press releases, media alerts and management of media stories in coordination with donor partners and in line with SPC and GEM Divisional branding - 10%

The position of Communications Assistant encompasses the following major functions or Key Result Areas for GEM:

Assist with the development and implementation of communications strategies

communications strategy and its implementation plan for the PIEMA and PCRAFI projects in consultation with project teams and Communications Team Leader, and ensure it is in line with donor and SPC requirements

Assist with the development of communications products (as noted below in content creation) in line with the communications strategies

Communication plan set in place and endorsed by PIEMA and PCRAFI projects.

Publications and manuals produced as per implementation plan.

Visibility products produced as per implementation plan.

Circulars, newsletters, briefing notes, media releases and speeches produced in a timely manner.

Content Development Develop innovative and effective

communications products to outline the results/key work of the PIEMA and PCRAFI projects in line with relevant branding guidelines of donors and SPC

This will include (but not limited to) video creation, social media campaigns (using SPC networks), written content, case studies, photos, factsheets and any other relevant content as outlined in the respective project communications strategies

Development of relevant content in line with communications strategy and implementation plan is achieved

A suite of materials developed for each project are published.

Final communications products are saved in easy-to-locate files accessible to the entire team to use for adhoc requests.

Communications content is approved when required by donor partners and always by SPC GEM Communications Team Leader.

Tracking of content engagement and tracking of content use to be provided to project

Regularly upload content onto the respective project, donors and SPC websites and webpages in line with relevant branding guidelines

Update and maintain respective project website information

Develop an electronic database for communication with project partners via campaign monitor and/or mail chimp

Website content is being promoted across SPC and donor platforms

Photos are relevant and engaging Respective project and GEM Photo

Library is up-to-date

Design capacity Design skills to develop innovative content for

social media, infographics, reporting snapshots of project delivery are developed in partnership with the project management team

Basic design skills are used to develop innovative social media campaigns

Video editing is in line with required branding

Production of materials is clear and presented in easy-to-understand manners for the different audiences required by the projects.

Producing, distributing and capturing information about PIEMA/PCRAFI projects, their activities, achievements through a wide variety of mediums including briefing notes, circulars, media releases, newsletters, the SPC/GEM website, and Media.
