Required skill level*
Hours: 37.5 per week, typically 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with half an hour for lunch. Unsocial hours, e.g. evenings and nights may be required from time to time (e.g. bat surveys). Flexible working is possible by arrangement.

Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend work may be required with prior arrangement and agreement (e.g. to assist with training courses).

20 working days. Holiday accrued at a rate of 1.5 per month. No holiday to be taken in the first 2 months without prior agreement.

Duties:Ecology
Survey work (after training) including reptiles, mammals, bats, plants, habitats, birds, protected species. Including field surveys, night work, ladder work, entering confined spaces, working alone and in remote places.

Site assessment and mapping. 3
Report writing including mapping. 3
Assisting with the preparation of management plans and European Protected Species Licences.

Preparing text for interpretation projects. 3
Assisting other team members with tasks required during a normal working day.

Assisting with site visits and liaising with clients. 3
Preparing ecological equipment including basic carpentry.

Admin Office administration including filing, writing letters, mail shots for example.

Answering the telephone and dealing with queries and clients.

Ordering equipment, materials, stationary and stamps. 3
Marketing: maintaining mailing lists, completing mail shots, producing flyers etc. Social media – regular

Preparing and providing quotes for clients. 3
Making appointments for surveys, taking bookings for courses and general course admin under the direction of the Training Manager.

Ordering and analysing data searches from county records centres and bat groups.

Setting up training courses, booking venue, creating course packs, arranging bookstalls and classroom, taking bookings.

NB Training will be provided as appropriate.
*Required Skill level: 1-2 No/very limited, 3-4 basic, 5-6 average, 7-8 good, 9-10 expert. Levels are assessed by the Managing Director.
