Hello and welcome to the first Friends of Kilmorie newsletter of the 2021/22 school year! We have had a busy start to the year, hosting a lovely coffee morning for parents/carers with children new to Kilmorie, quickly followed by our Annual General Meeting (AGM). At the AGM, we sadly said goodbye to Caroline, FOK Chair for the last 3 years, Helen, Hannah and Becky. We're hugely grateful for all their hard work during their time on the committee. The good news is that we had an amazing response to our call for new members, meaning this year we have an incredible 16 strong committee. New members bring lots of new energy and ideas. We are all hoping that 2021/22 will see a return to normality, but this will take a bit of time and for this term at least, we will be adopting a cautious approach, taking our lead from Julie, the new Headteacher. In the pipeline, we have the return of the Kilmorie tea towel and festive cards project, a family gardening day at school and a fun Autumn trail over half term. Read on for more information about our plans. We also have a provisional date for the Kilmorie Christmas fair - so mark the afternoon of Saturday 4th December 2021 in your calendars now! We are your PTA. We promote positive relationships throughout the school community by organising social events and fundraising for additional resources. Our second AGM on Zoom was brilliantly well attendedand we were delighted to be joined by Julie, our newHeadteacher and Benita, the new School BusinessManager. Despite the challenges of Covid-19, 2020-21was a successful year for fundraising. In total, FOKdonated £17,461 to school for a range of resources, including laptops, an interactive whiteboard and books.

We also elected a new committee - voting in two Co-Chairs (Jo and Kathryn), Co-Treasurers (Catherine andEleanor) and Co-Secretaries (Jan and Laura), as well asa Deputy Treasurer (Luke). Plus we now have 9 generalcommittee members - Cherie, Lliam, Lucy, Nadine,Nooreen, Sheetal, Susanna, Thracia and Zara.

Kilmorie is immensely proud of its award winning outside spaces and is dedicated to improving them furtherfor the benefit of the children. In the summer, the school entered a competition organised by the LondonChildren's Flower Society and Kilmorie won the Edith Hunter Challenge Shield! The Year 6 group, CareAbout Plants (CAP) helped grow a variety of seeds, Year 3 grew sunflowers and Year 4 grew tomatoes, courgettes and green beans.
