Newspapers Digitisation project: 19th Century British Library newspapers

Context for digital projects : UK Newspapers & British Library Collections
The newspaper collections in the British Library at Colindale, London, consist of:
over 664,000 bound volumes and parcels, occupying some 32 kilometres (or 20 miles) of shelves;
over 370,000 reels of microfilm, on 13 kilometres (or 8 miles) of shelf space;

Digitise up to 2 million pages of out of copyright newspapers
free access online to UK higher education community
sophisticated browsing and searching of the file via the web
British Newspapers 1800-1900 Project: selection of titles
