SIMON TEDESCHI KALEIDESCOPE Friday 4 March 7pm to 8pmRandwick Town Hall Tickets $22 ($20 conc.)Simon Tedeschi is a Randwick City local, a gracious raconteur with a big smile and one of the finest artists in the world. He is Australia’s most renowned and sought-after pianist, performing throughout Europe, North America and Asia. Simon makes a welcome return to Randwick Town Hall with ‘Kaleidoscope’ - a multi-coloured and continually shifting program which presents the pianoin all its majesty and dynamism - from the heartbreaking lyricism of Schubertand the romance of Chopin, to the visionary dissonance of Prokofiev andthe incandescent swing of Fats Waller. Last year a capacity audience satspellbound in Randwick Town Hall from the first ripple over the keyboard to thefinal reverberation. Don’t miss this wonderful performance.

TOPOLOGY AND THE AUSTRALIAN VOICES UNREPRESENTATIVE SWILLFriday 10 June 7pm to 8pmRandwick Town HallTickets $22 ($20 conc.)In this distinctive work, Queensland’s new music quintet Topology and one of our most distinguished choirs The Australian Voices bring together the most memorable historical speeches from prime ministers with exceptional musicianship to create a unique musical narrative. Unrepresentative Swill traverses pivotal moments that have shaped our nation — Menzies, Whitlam and Gillard, exploring cadence, rhythm and significance, and rendering it on an expanse of harmony and musical innovation. This is an extraordinary performance, fascinating and musically absorbing – a rare event for Sydney.

“True greatness”.John Carmody Sydney Morning Herald

EMMA PASK Friday 2 September 7pm to 8pmRandwick Town HallTickets $22 ($20 conc.)

CHASING THE MOON Friday 18 November 7pm to 8pmPrince Henry CentreTickets $22 ($20 conc.)There is a fresh flavour to the way Chasing the Moon brings alive the exuberant and romantic sounds of Gypsy Jazz – a mouth-watering mix of hot club and the blues, a dash of folk, lashings of swing and flirting with Latin rhythms andmodern elements. Kathy Bluff delivers her distinctive style of soulful vocals and swinging jazz violin with warmth andcharm, Paul Burjan adds glittering soprano and tenor sax, and John Blenkhorn provides the rhythmic pulse and Django-esque solos. That essential Parisian ambience comes with the piano accordion of Garry Steel, while John Conley ondouble bass and Rodney Ford on drums lay down the best of grooves. Just brilliant!

THE SPOOKY MEN’S CHORALE Friday 1 April 7pm to 8pmRandwick Town Hall Tickets $22 ($20 conc.)Dressed in black, apart from their foolish hats, and boasting a variety of ages, shapes and sizes The Spooky Men’s Chorale are returning to Randwick Town Hall by popular demand. They sing about man matters, the contents of the shed and puzzling purchases which seemed a good idea at the time. And they can sing! Haunting Georgian chants, funny originals and unlikely covers, their harmonies are fine and close, and their tuning, timing and dynamics impeccable. Expect pin drop beautiful love ballads, Georgian table songs, celebrations of ‘boys’ things’ (sheds, tools, surfing), hilarious spoofs (The Bee Gees), and searching musical explorations of their own body parts. Conductor, MC and ‘borderline genius’ Stephen Taberner creates all the weird and wonderful arrangements on top of writing all but a few of the songs. Under his direction the Spooky Men’s brilliant harmonies are spine-shiveringly tingling and deeply thrumming at the same time. Described as ‘surely the best a cappella act in the land’ by music critic John Shand, you will need to book early for this one.

‘… surreal, highly enjoyable and gloriously mind-bending.’ Mick Tems, Welsh Proms

Award winning vocalist Emma Pask has firmly established herself as one of Australia’s favourite voices in Jazz. Discovered as a 16 year old by legendary Jazzman James Morrison, Emma has performed all over the world and a little closer to home, gracing the stage of the Sydney Opera House. Familiar to many for her TV appearances, Emma’s performances are reminiscent of the classic era of jazz, when swing was top of the charts. Don’t miss this amazing talent!

“The greatest gift to Australian jazz vocals in the last decade”. James Morrison.
