FUJI MOUNTAIN

Fuji mountain is the highest mountain(3776m) in Japan which is located in the centre of the main land. It has been selected as the cultural heritaga site in 2013. Mount Fuji can be seen many parts of the region due to the height and can project many different impressions when seen at different angles.

Fuji from different angles...

From metropolitan areas such as Tokyo, mount Fuji can be seen when the weather is clear. In the picture above it shows mount fuji with TOKYO SKY TREE, the recently constructed tower. The top one is taken near the shore of Yagisawa in Shizuoka prefecture. Top left was taken in Asakiri Plateau where the cattles are raised also in Shi-zuoka. Bottom right was taken in the Arakura-asama park in Yamanashi prefecture. Middle right is taken in Shoji lake in Yamanashi.

Sakurajima: This is a volcano located in the very south of Japan in Kagoshima prefecture. Around these areas, many hot springs exist. Hot springs are made by the result of the active composite volcano and this is one of the active volcano. The summit is around 1,117m high and about 77square kilometres wide. As the name of this landscape contains the word island, this used to be an isolated land, but since the eruption in 1914, the lava flow have reached to the main land resulting to connect to the island.

Eruption: The volcano remains still active as of now, and dropping large amount of vol-canis ash on the nearby area, af-fecting the cities to become cov-ered with dust. Japanese Meteorological Agency, set the level of active-ness as 3, which implies that the volcano is dangerous to ap-proach.

Out of all the volcanoes in Japan, this Sakurajima is the sole volcano which has such high status as level 3. Thus, many Japanese photographers come to Sakurajima and shoot the rare moments of the erup-tion. The last huge eruption was in 2013.8.18.

Volcanic lightneing: Also known as the dirty thun-derstorm is a phenomenon that is caused by the pro-cess of eruption. Electrical charges are generated when the rock fragments bump to each other and causing friction. Also, the volcano erupts hot water out from the crater which supports the lightening to occur as well.

Tsunami.

The aftermath of the earthquake in 2011(Fukushima prefecture)

The massive tsunami came along right after the undersea megathrust earth-quake off the coast of Japan. Tsunami is occurred usually after an earthquake, volcanic eruption and other undersea explosions. The mechanism of the tsunami is a displacement of a large amount of water. Due to the sea ground’s distortion or any deformation occurred by distrophism, the water in the sea instantly is being pushed out like a sling shot where the dis-trophism is occurring and eventually putting out all the substantial water as a big wave.

This big wave is the result of the tsunami. Therefore, the bigger earthquake or explosion undersea it is, the bigger portion of water will be moving. The tsunami in 2011, in the North eastern region of Japan tells us how big the earthquake was.
