The Bathford Bulletin The Monthly Magazine For The Parish Of Bathford January2009 The BEFA Committee would like to thank all customers, staff and volunteers for their support during 2008. It has been a challenging year with the closure of the Post Office and the transfer of the news agency to BEFA. But we managed it and while the whole shop team have aged a bit in the process, we think the new arrangements have settled down, expanded the shop and maintained the service. Particular thanks is due to the fantastic paper delivery team who along with Paul, get up at unearthly hours to sort and deliver the papers The shop continues to trade well and while we are not making a great surplus, we are gradually managing to improve our reserves to give us a little more protection against the unexpected. Many customers have asked if we can reinstate the 'turnover chart' that was next to the counter, this is a bit more complicated now with the news agency , but our treasurer is aiming to reintroduce it in the new year. The Committee would also like to thank Stan Cherry for organising a great Quiz Evening which raised over £700. It was a great success and will be repeated next year. We are still searching for an Assistant Manager to work with Paul and we would really like to hear from anyone resident, volunteer or BEFA member we do not mind, who would like paid work. We are offering good rates and a great working atomosphere, there are some unsocial hours but these are shared. If you are interested then please talk to Paul at the shop. By the time you read this, We hope that as part of our continuous improvement programme the free Cashpoint will be installed in the shop. This should be a great help in the village and will save everyone the need to drive into Bath just to get cash. We hope it will ensure that more of the village spend a bit more in the shop each week. We wish all our customers and supporters a very happy New Year and hope that you will continue to find Bathford Community Shop good value as well as a friendly place to shop and meet. Best wishes Simon Hodgson Chair BEFA

January2009

The BEFA Committee would like to thank all customers, staff and volunteers for their support during 2008.

It has been a challenging year with the closure of the Post Office and the transfer of the news agency to BEFA. But we managed it and while the whole shop team have aged a bit in the process, we think the new arrangements have settled down, expanded the shop and maintained the service. Particular thanks is due to the fantastic paper delivery team who along with Paul, get up at unearthly hours to sort and deliver the papers

The shop continues to trade well and while we are not making a great surplus, we are gradually managing to improve our reserves to give us a little more protection against the unexpected.

Best wishes
