To log on, start a 3270 emulator. This presentation uses QWS3270. The next few slides pertain to the first QWS3270 session. If the QA session is already set up from a prior session, select QA from the drop list and click <Connect>. Otherwise, click <New>.

Type the Host Name as shown and click OK.

Type ‘LOGON userid’ and press <enter>

Type your password (initially the last 8 characters of your UID) and press <enter>. Once you are comfortable logging on and off, you should change your password. To changed your password, type your Userid and Password, then type your new password and verify your new password.

You are now logged on. If you are logging on for the first time, the next few slides show how to set up your ISPF options. Otherwise, your ISPF options will be saved from the prior logon. To set your ISPF options, select option 0 <enter>.

Set your ISPF options as shown. Then put the cursor on Log/List <enter>.

In the pop-up box, type 1 <enter>

Choose process option 2, then <F3>

Put the cursor on Log/List again <enter>, then Type 2 <enter>.

<F3> again to exit the options panel and return to the ISPF Primary Option Menu

To log off, type X <enter>

Cancel your own TSO session via ftp.

• If your TSO session becomes locked ( unresponsive), rather than call your course instructor or call an operator, you can cancel your own TSO session yourself by using ftp. The next few slides explain how.

• Start a command prompt window: Start, programs, accessories, command prompt.

• Type ftp mvs-qa.cmp.ilstu.edu as shown below, then <enter>.

• Type your userid and password as shown below. The example uses userid @378101.

• Type quote site filetype=jes <enter>. You should see ‘SITE command was accepted’.

• Type quote site jesstatus=active <enter>. You should see ‘SITE command was accepted’.

• Type dir and you will see the jobid of your TSO session job. In this example, the jobid is TSU01210.

• Type delete tnnnn where nnnn is the number of the jobid. In this example, the command is delete t1210. You should see ‘Cancel successful’.

• Type quit <enter> to close your ftp connection, then close the command prompt window.
