Israel and Palestine

Major Jewish and Islam Conflict that has lasted for decades.

The heart of the conflict is the area around the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem

Jewish people originally had the land when Moses led his people out of Egypt

They left when the Romans conquered the area Romans were defeated by Muslims later and

they resided in the area for hundreds of years

More History

Later they were defeated during the Crusades and the Jewish people returned.

Over the last 100 years the Jewish people want a unified Jerusalem as its capital as they feel that is their homeland

Palestinians want East Jerusalem as the capital of their new country

Both of them are trying to coexist in the same area and it is not working well

Attempts at Peace

1993 Oslo Accords allowed for limited Palestinian self-rule in areas occupied by Isreal, including the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank

Current State

Things have deteriorated and fighting has continued.

Palestinian Liberation Organization, PLO, is an organization created to establish a homeland for Palestinian Arabs

An international corporation primarily concerned with regulating oil prices for its members
