On the left:Tensile Fabric Structure | 2014 | Stretched fabric allow

one to explore the possibilities of fabric spaces

Above:Stretched Fabric | 2014 | Playing with fabric reveals the

nature of fabric and the permeability of light

    Below:Woven Bin Liners | 2014 | Twisted woven bin liners is a

material exploration study exploring how weaving can be used on other materials.

In order to see the qualities and the limitations of the materi-als used in the design several testings were made. Those testings consist of looking at the different views of stretched fabric, exploring thread light relationship, changing the atmosphere by creating fabric thresholds and manipulating fabric as an adaptive structure. Principles of weaving is tested on bin liners creating a woven bin liner swing. After several testing lasercut fabric were stitched together hold by wire to give structural element. Many testings are also made on materials such as plaster, concrete and wood.

    SITE ANALYSIS

    5

Site analysis has been made throughaerial photos, demo-graphics, how the city and site evolved through time. Different routes were taken to show views and reveal the ambiance of the area. Building typologies were analysed. Mapping and taking photos were essential in understanding the nature of the site. Social layer of the site has been analysed through events, people, programs of the site.

  • CONCEPTUAL WORK

Above:Circulation diagram | 2013 | Central circulation creates connectivity between spaces.Massing sketch | 2014 | Situating different spaces to see their relation.Path sketch model | 2014 | Exploring ways of flow of direction into the building.

On the left:Concept sketch model | 2014 | Exploring the main motivators of the design.

    Below:Carton House, Oskar Leo Kaufman

Conceptual work consists of looking understanding and adapting the principles used in precedents, exploring ideas through concept models and sketching, improving the iterations through digitalisation techniques. Diagrams are important design tools I used to explain programs, usage of spaces, iteration, circulation through building, qualities of different spaces and design development.

Either sketch, development, fragment or final model, I find models important tools in comparing scales, seeing how the spaces look and feel like. I used various materials such as types of wood, cardboard, paper, fabric, wire, plaster. through lasercutting, wood-working and model making skills.

To make use of the space more staircases

will have storage spaces below the stairs

as well that can fold up and down.

The brief was to design a dynamic and evolving space inspired by

an experiment or phenomenon for one to five people. Material

explorations investigating elasticity, durability, opacity, shadow,

smell and texture were used in spatial propositions. Fabric Studio

is a foldable living and working space for a fashion designer. The

designed by Toshihiko Suzuki. Fabric Studio is easy to put

together and seperate and one can carry it wth them. Fabric is

reinforced through steel. It consists of pockets and storage

spaces within its fabric layers. Ground floor has the working

The brief was to design a medium scale public building that is

informed by the notion of symbiotic living. The existing

modes of working and living in order to regenerate the city

and establish contemporary models of urban living within a

decaying historical site has been analysed. It has been

established that local artists live privately, immigrant children

play on the streets and people only communicate with people

who they share the same background. The main motivation

of the design is to create a fun atmosphere allowing the

immigrant children and local artists as well as the public gather

and share their experience and creativity. Art facilities consist

of classrooms for children to learn how to draw and paint,

exhibition space both for children and artists, accommoda-

tions and studios for artists, playground for children and a
