(First Revision) 0. FOREWORD
0.1 This Indian Standard (Part III) (First Revision) was adopted by the Indian Standards Institution on 16 June 1971, after the draft finalized by the Jute and Jute Products Sectional Committee had been approved by the Textile Division Council.
0.2 Other requirements regarding terminology, general requirements, packaging and marking, sampling and inspection, criteria for conformity of Indian h&an packed in bales or rolls will bc according to Part I of this standard.
0.3 All quantities and dimensions in this standard have been expressed in the metric system. However, corresponding values in fps system have also been given whcrevcr necessary as a guidance to the manufacturers and consumers.
s.4 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, ,the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of test, shall be rounded off in accordance with IS : 2 - 1960*. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This standard prescribes constructional details and other particulars of the following types of hcssian of such widths as agreed to between the buyer and the seller:
Type I-213 g/m”; 38x31 (or 7 oz/40 in; 9x8) Type II-270 g/m2; 47 x 47 (or 8.9 oz/40 in; 11 x 12)
2. SPECIFIC REQKJTREMENTS
2.1 The hessian shall conform to the requirements laid down in Table 1.
2.2 The packed bales or rolls shall conform to the provisions laid down in Table 2.
2.3 The contract moisture regain shall be 16 percent.
