THE LAUNCH OF A NEW NIGHTCLUB is always a much anticipated event, however, the launch of the Wright Venue – purpose built in the middle of a business park beside Dublin airport - was always going to be cause for some consternation. Why would anyone travel so far off the main strip? Would the crowd return, week in, week out? Would the owners see a return on the reported €38m they’d sunk into the place? And most of all, would it succeed? After Irish Bartender’s night out spent experiencing all that the WV has to offer – and more – we can confirm that the answer to the above questions is a resounding, ‘yes’. Owner Michael Wright is entirely on the money with his new venture, and with plans to expand into the Dublin city pub scene, we’re quietly confident of his further success. As well as reviews and news from around the country, this month we asked our friends at the Bank Bar and Restaurant to help us create the perfect cocktail menu. While cocktails haven’t had the best reputation in Ireland over the years, bar owners nationwide are starting to realise that cocktails can be impressive revenue generators – and therefore can’t be ignored. Check out how to make the perfect cocktail (pg6). Each month, Irish Bartender is distributed to pubs, wine bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels in Dublin, Wicklow, Cork, Galway and Kilkenny. You can also pick us up at Musgraves Cash & Carry, nationwide.

VFI Proposed ChangesWith the news that 4,800 pub industry jobs were lost in the last 12 months, The Vintners’ Federation of Ireland (VFI) recently commis-sioned independent research of its membership by leading market researchers Ask Chili to ascertain the current situation in the Irish pub trade. Following on from the survey, the VFI has several recommendations to save Irish pubs which include reduce VAT rates from 21.5% to 15% and from 13.5% to 10%; appoint an ombudsman to ensure financial institutions are operating fairly and transparently in offering credit facilities to SMEs; reduce local authority commercial and water rates; extend the recently announced initiatives and incentives to encourage employment in the manufacturing sector to the hos-pitality sector; ensure that the current blood alcohol levels permissible for drivers be kept at 80mgs and not reduced, as the VFI feel this proposed move will have no effect on road fatalities and is likely to lead to further pub closures and job losses in rural areas.

World’s Top-valued Premium Gin Bombay Sapphire gin, already the fastest growing of the major premium gin brands, is now also the world’s number one premium gin by value, commanding 31.7 per cent share by value within the premium gin category, as reported by IWSR. This rate of growth under Bacardi ownership is a testament to the Company’s strategic focus on acquiring premium and super premium brands and respecting brands’ heritage, authenticity and superior quality. Bacardi has ensured that Bombay Sapphire has global consistency in marketing and imagery across the more than 120 markets where it is sold. Most recently, the brand embarked on a global roll out of its highly successful U.S. campaign to promote the Bombay Sapphire Collins - a modern twist on the classic cocktail featuring fresh lemons and sugar. www.bombaysapphire.com

Trade in Illicit Cigarettes Grows Effective from the 1 August 2009, Gallaher (Dublin) Ltd. officially began trading in Ireland as Japan Tobacco International (JTI). This final stage of integration comes two years after the successful acquisition and integration of Gallaher by JTI, which established JTI as the third largest tobacco company in the world. Based in Dublin for 41 years, then Taoiseach, Jack Lynch, first opened the Gallaher factory and headquarters in 1968. As part of their integration plan, JTI intend focusing on the fight against the growing problem of illicit trade of cigarettes in Ireland, which is estimated to cost the exchequer €500m annually in lost revenue. In 2008 alone, the illicit trade also cost legitimate retailers €487m in lost turnover and a further €358m in cross purchases lost.

Any bartender worth his salt knows how to make a cocktail. How to make a good cocktail, however, is a different matter. Most of us, on more than one occasion, have been served a sloppy, poorly assembled cocktail. This might all be about to change however, as cash conscious Irish customers learn to expect and demand more for their buck. After a chat with the flairtenders at the Bank Bar and Restaurant, on College Green, we decided to put together the perfect cocktail menu, for you to use and enjoy.

BACARDI mojitothe original mojito

In 1862, in Santiago de Cuba, Don Facundo Bacardi Massó revolutionised cocktail making with the creation of the first premium, aged white rum. The original mojito recipe used a blend of freshly squeezed lime juice, unrefined sugar, bruised mint, soda water and

a splash of Bacardi to bring this refreshing drink to life.

With acts in the calibre of ex-Beach Boy Brian Wilson, newly reformed ska legends Madness and guaranteed party starters The Flaming Lips on the line-up, this was one weekend that promised much. But, as with this festival every year, it was the smaller moments that brought a smile to my face as the post-weekend contemplation began.Like the surreal Friday night experience of listening to hundreds of mud-soaked revellers singing

lustily along to the theme tune of Aussie soap ‘Home and Away’ as DJ Beardyman mashed things up at the B-Live tent. Clearly

the cocktails were working

their magic on the beautiful people bopping away inside. Unfortunately, Irish Bartender couldn’t work his way through the throng so I decided to bide my time and head there early on the Saturday. As the missus and I rocked up early Saturday afternoon the signs were promising with Hector Ó hEochagáin throwing shapes at the edge of the dance-floor, Mojito in hand, while Shovell, one time member of M-people, laid the beat down on drums. Things got even better as Bacardi flairtender Slim Denby singled us out for some special attention. The weekend was about to take off. While Irish Bartender chatted away to Bacardi Brand Ambassador for Ireland, Paul

Lambert, the aforementioned Slim put on an eye-catching display behind the VIP bar. Not wanting to be seen as fussy we decided to sample the bar’s entire range, which Slim had lined up in next to no time. I tucked in to the glorious Bacardi cocktails as Paul explained some of the brand’s unique selling points. Such as the fact that the earliest Daiquiri recipe on paper from 1916 explicitly states that Bacardi rum must be used. Similarly, the earliest recorded Mojito ingredient’s list recommends that the same brand be used to ensure that the drink is of the highest standard. Judging by the vast quantities being consumed at this early hour in the B-Live tent the original authors clearly knew what they were on about.

With the likes of Beardyman, Filthy Dukes, Unabombers and Krafty Kuts all parading their wares in the B-Live tent over the course of the weekend, an upbeat feel was patently something that the organisers were aiming for. Indeed, Bacardi has now spent over 10 years at Irish music festivals combining music, drinks and elaborate production. According to their market development manager, Tiernan O’Morain, this gives consumers a unique experience and more importantly for Bacardi, a chance for music lovers to experience Bacardi in a truly vibrant area.

“Electric Picnic is a unique Irish festival and has established itself brilliantly in the festival market as

the main music event for 18-35 year olds,” said Tiernan. “This audience represents Bacardi’s loyal consumers so it makes perfect sense for us to be present each year.”Bacardi’s barometer for success for B-Live is measured through a wide range of criteria – the consumer’s interaction with the brand throughout the weekend, brand awareness and an increasing propensity to purchase it after the event. Whatever about the latter two, there was no doubting the crowd participation over the course of this festival.Irish Bartender highlighted the throngs visible outside the B-Live tent on the Friday night and mischievously suggested to Tiernan that Bacardi should consider expanding their operation in future years.“We are constantly looking at ways to improve the Bacardi experience at the festival and each year we make various modifications to the arena. However, the overall concept works very well for us and we have no plans

If you go down to the woods today…

Since launching itself on an unsuspecting Irish public in 2004, the Electric Picnic has firmly established itself as a staple on our social calendar. Therefore, when a chance came up for Irish Bartender to get his groove on down at the Bacardi B-Live tent at EP09, all that was left for me to do was grab a tent, a pair of wellies and pile in the motor for the drive down.

Diep: Tasty treats from the Far East, the spicy peppers ensured the drink kept flowing.

Pieminister: Lovely as always, shame they ran out of mash on the Sunday afternoon.

Mao: Restaurant quality food with festival speed - sure fire winner.

“ELECTRIC PICNIC IS A UNIQUE IRISH FESTIVAL AND HAS ESTABLISHED ITSELF BRILLIANTLY IN THE FESTIVAL MARKET AS THE MAIN MUSIC EVENT FOR 18-35 YEAR OLDS”

Whatwe ate:

to change that,” Tiernan smiled, much to my chagrin. It looked like I’d have to continue to struggle my way through the crowds.Despite constantly ducking out of the tent in order to catch some of the attractive musical offerings available elsewhere at the EP site, the Bacardi B-Live tent continued to act as a beacon over the course of the weekend. Not that I was alone in that respect. Some of those spotted sipping the mouth-watering cocktails at the Bacardi VIP Area included the aforementioned Hector Ó hEochagáin, who celebrated his 40th birthday in style with a group of friends, including close pal Tommy Tiernan. New Late Late Show host, Ryan Tubridy, accompanied by stunning girlfriend

Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain, toasted his successful debut with a Bacardi Mojito while footballer Robbie Keane’s wife, Claudine, and comedian Sean Hughes were also seen enjoying the hospitality on offer. Obviously Irish Bartender was keeping the right company.Catching up with Tiernan O’Morain again at the VIP bar on the Sunday night I was moved to ask what he’d remember from this year’s festival. “The highlight for me at Electric Picnic is seeing the good time smiles on so many faces in the tent. A lot of planning goes into the event, and the payback for the 60-plus people involved in the production is seeing the audience really enjoy and get into it,” said Tiernan contentedly, as the party continued to rage all around him.

With the weekend’s excursions catching up on him Irish Bartender reluctantly made his excuses at the B-Live tent and trudged off into the night. Despite the rather depressing thought that there was a year to go until the next EP, a head full of happy memories would have to suffice.Having just returned from my holidays in Cuba, the Bacardi B-Live tent ensured that the same joyous, carefree vibe Irish Bartender experienced there had percolated through this festival. Thoughts of recessions and negative equities were washed away in a sea of happy times. Laughing again at some of the mad-cap antics witnessed over the course of the weekend, Irish Bartender wobbled off to somehow find his tent.

Who we saw:

Orbital: One of Q magazine’s ‘50 Bands to See Before You Die’ this performance showcased the band’s output over the last two decades. Legend has it that Paul Hartnoll insisted they play the festival after his previous DJ set there and the crowd’s reaction won’t have let him down. Memorable tunes for a memorable night.

Brian Wilson:As the main creative genius behind 1960’s greats The Beach Boys, Wilson has an awesome back catalogue to delve in to. While a slow start combined with poor sound meant the show took a while to get going, there was no denying its lasting impact. As ‘Surfin’ USA’ came to its long, glorious conclusion the happy vibes were being felt all over the Stradbally site.

Florence & the Machine: As one of the ‘buzz’ acts of this year’s EP, little Florence Welch had a lot of pressure on her shoulders. Not that it showed as her soaring lyrics lit up the Electric Arena.

Madness: What needs to be said about these laughing rapscallions? With the anticipation building by the minute these ageing gents finally set about showing us young ones how to party. The triumphant ‘House of Fun’ was surely a festival highlight.

The Flaming Lips: When the front man of a band decides he’s going to go walkabout over the adoring crowd while encased in a giant rubber ball you know that you’ve got a show on your hands. With the audience in his hand from start to finish Wayne Coyne ensured the weekend finished in a warm, fuzzy glow.

- it’s rumoured - by Michael’s visits to those cities. The rooms can comfortably fit 15, and are available for rent at €1,500 per night. There’s also a Live Room, featuring regular acts, a Backstage Bar running the length of the

venue, the Penthouse, which is the ultimate nod to celebrity culture, and a hidden Scarface room (so hidden, in fact, that when Irish Bartender finally stumbled up it, we never left...) Traditional menus have been replaced with LCD menu screens (very cool) and the disco ball on the main floor is the largest and most expensive in the country (we were told the builders had to remove a wall in order to install it). In addition to all of that, there’s gaming rooms, vip rooms, fantastic outdoor areas, and bartenders galore.

One would be forgiven for thinking the cost of this venture would be weighing heavily on Michael Wright’s mind, not that it seemed that way on the launch night. Dressed in his trademark designer jeans, open-necked shirt and blazer, Michael was calm, self-assured, and his usual charming self. Quick to remind Irish Bartender that the Wright Venue will employ over 150 people, Michael feels that, “entertainment

and hospitality are recession proof, once you give customers what they want, and once you give them value.”

The venue will open on Friday and Saturday nights initially, however Michael expects to have various events and functions booked for the rest of the week, including live acts, product launches, company events and fashion shows. The scope is endless.

What Would

My Mama Do ?

As Pixie Lott belted out the words to her No 1 single - the

2,000 strong crowd roaring back in delight and appreciation

of the thumping tunes on the biggest night of Dublin’s

celebrity calendar - Irish Bartender agreed, she’d make her

way to the Wright Venue, on Dublin’s Northside...

By James Mulally

The news that entrepreneur Michael Wright was to open a nightclub on

Dublin’s northside – at a cost of €38m – right in the middle of the country’s biggest financial crisis since the ‘80’s – seemed a little foolhardy to many. It would appear however, that this is exactly what the millionaire publican has done. Purpose built and located far from the usual nightclub spots on Dublin’s main thoroughfare, Wrights can be found in the middle of Aerside Retail Park, between a motor dealership and a homesware outlet store. However, pretty much everything to do with Wrights breaks from tradition. With a capacity for 2,000 clubbers and spread over 4 floors, Wrights also has, among other things, party spaces named New York, Miami, Los Angelas and Las Vegas, all overlooking the main dance floor and inspired

included a quick snoop round the hugely popular 4 cities; take the privacy of a very plush hotel suite, the kudos of a vip booth and the fun of karaoke and you’ll get some idea of of the jewels in the crown of this venue. Each of the 4 private rooms has their own plasma screen with interactive facilities including Wii, Play Station 3, karaoke, Sky, retro Smeg fridge, air-con, hostess service and much more.

Since the highly successful launch night, WV is definitely proving itself as Dublin’s newest - and most definitely coolest - place to be. With very beautiful naked dancers ‘dressed’ in gold paint on display as you walk in the entrance, this outrageously extravagent nightclub might possibly look more at home on the strip in Miami, but somehow, it works.

Theatrical in design, all focus is on the main dancefloor and stage with various viewing areas, from a tiered gallery, to the more intimate, vip snugs.

The Wright Bar Group owns 6 pubs and restaurants including the Bloody Stream in Howth, and the Anglers Rest, in Dublin 15. Plans for the Wright Venue don’t end with the nightclub, however, with the news that Wright has developed two additional buildings in the retail park, to include restaurants and a coffee shop. TGI Friday’s is signed up as a tenant, with a pizza outlet and coffee chain shop currently in negotiations.

Fixed fare taxi deals are already in place for budget conscious clubbers and there’s even a WV

bus service, which leaves from several city centre and suburb pick up points (including Dawson Street in Dublin 2, Malahide and Castleknock), from 11pm – and returning at 2.30am – on Friday and Saturday nights. There’s also a hotel next door, perfect for finishing off a night out.

The launch night – which included a showcase of everyone who’s anyone on the Irish celebrity scene – sported a ringmaster, stilt walkers and burlesque dancers, as well as Peaches Geldof on the decks, and Pixie Lott performing

live. Theatrical in design, all focus is on the main dancefloor and stage with various viewing areas, from a tiered gallery, to the more intimate, vip snugs. The Penthouse – which boasts a spectacular view over the city’s northside – is a retreat like no other, and even has its own private access lift. Our guided ‘tour’

If you’ve ever been in the situation where you opened a bottle of wine but didn’t finish it, then you can imagine how ideal the quarter bottle is. No one likes letting wine go to waste, and while cooking with the remains of a bottle is an option, it’s not a great one if the wine is a particularly good one. The quarter bottle is all about flexibility – perfect for when you feel like a glass of your favourite red, while your partner enjoys a glass of chilled white. Now that wine producers realise there’s a market for quarter bottles, they’re no longer only to be found in service stations or on supermarket shelves. Now, the quarter bottle is as popular with wine drinkers in the local pub as a bottle is in a restaurant. Additionally, quarter bottles are a great way of keeping track on what you’re drinking, as you can always keep track of the bottles. We’ve chosen a selection of our very favourite quarter bottles for you to sample, we’re sure you’ll enjoy them, just as much as we did.

Viña Carmen Viña Carmen was founded in 1850 by Christian Lanz, who named the winery in honour to his beloved wife Carmen.Today, Viña Carmen is one of Chile’s most important Chilean wineries, exporting to more than 50 countries around the world.Carmen’s trademark is the intensity and purity of its aromas, its refusal to surrender to the variety but to maximise its expression. Carmen’s wines invite those who enjoy them on a journey through all of Chile’s terroirs, from the Elqui Valley in the North to Cauquenes in the South. Few wineries can offer such a voyage, which has just a singe objective:“Finding the location that allows each variety to find its essence and fullest expression.”

THE QUARTER BOTTLE IS IDEAL FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE KEEN TO DRINK HIGH QUALITY WINES, IN A SINGLE SERVING. WITH ONE LARGE GLASS IN EACH QUARTER BOTTLE, THE GROWING TREND FOR QUARTER BOTTLES MEANS NO WASTAGE, NO CORKAGE AND NO SPOILED WINE

Jacob’s CreekWilliam Jacob first surveyed the Barossa Region in 1839 where he and his brother John took up land in the Hundred of Moorooroo, meaning ‘meeting of two waters’. The two waters were renamed Jacob’s Creek and it was here in 1850 that Johan Gramp planted the Barossa Valley’s first commercial vineyard on the banks of Jacob’s Creek producing his first vintage in 1850.The philosophy behind Jacob’s Creek is to offer a fresh, fruit-driven, easy drinking wine that can be consumed without years of cellaring. Jacob’s Creek wines promise always to over deliver in quality for the price and every aspect of the winemaking process is geared to achieve this result. These world class wines are available in quarter bottles from the classic and sparkling ranges.

MontanaMontana planted the first modern day vineyards in Marlborough and created New Zealand’s first varietal wine with Montana Chardonnay, continuing on to make the original vintage of what was to become the country’s signature wine, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. After more than 30 years, Montana offers wine lovers a selection of distinctive varietal wines. Alongside refined vintages of those early benchmark wines, you’ll find expressions of New

Zealand’s top wine styles, as well as bold new wines that showcase subtle variations between, and within, regions.

Long MountainProud of its heritage, Long Mountain takes its name from the dramatic Langeberg (Long Mountain) range, which extends for over 200 kilometers along the edge of the Breede River Valley in the Western Cape region of South Africa, the country’s premier wine producing area. This fertile valley produces grapes of outstanding quality, resulting in wines with great character and wonderful flavours. Long Mountain pioneered inter regional blending in South Africa, meaning that the wines are sourced from various producers in the Western Cape. The philosophy of Long Mountain has always been to deliver quality wines at affordable prices. With smooth tannins and integrated fruit, Long Mountain wines are enjoyed both on their own or as an enhancement to any meal.

Wyndham EstateEnglish immigrant George Wyndham began his most important page in Australia’s winemaking history when he planted his first vineyard at Dalwood, along the banks of the Hunter River. Seven years later, Dalwood Wines released its first vintage to rave reviews and by the mid 1800’s was exporting. To honour George Wyndham’s memorable achievements, Dalwood Wines was renamed Wyndham Estate in 1970, one hundred years after George Wyndham’s death. The Wyndham Estate portfolio has been arranged into three distinct ranges to suit a variety of consumers’ tastes and budgets.

Caliterra

The Caliterra Reserva range is the result of a great combination of soil, climate and a new yield reduction programme in their Colchagua

vineyards. “Calidad” and “tierra” – quality and land – form a beautiful marriage in Caliterra wines. Gently crafted by winemaker, Sergio Cuadra, in a unique gravity flow winery these wines reflect the excellent soils and climates of Chile’s finest vineyards. Caliterra is deeply committed to sustainable practices in the vineyard: “it’s not about making only high quality wine anymore. It’s about making it with a careful awareness to help assure the natural resources for our grandsons and beyond”, Sergio Cuadra. Caliterra Reserva Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon quarter bottles are an established favourite in pubs across Ireland. Beside the Seaside Located in the pretty seaside town of Bray, County Wicklow, The Porterhouse Inn has an absolutely stunning view of the seafront, Dublin Bay and Bray Head. With 16 chic rooms, all fully-equipped with modern amenities, The Porterhouse Inn has been designed with the valued guest in mind. The pub itself is a great spot, offering top-class food, friendly efficient staff and a cosy, enjoyable atmosphere. The recently launched Electric

Garden Sessions offers customers quality bands and late night DJs, in this truly enjoyable bar. Go for the food, stay for the warmth and hospitality. The Porterhouse in Bray pulls in a local, relaxed crowd. This is one of our favourite pubs to be in, whatever the time of year. It’s hopping with a barbeque atmosphere in summer and has a roaring fire to snuggle up beside, throughout winter. Full marks!

No Bankers Allowed The site that the Bank Bar now occupies in the oldest region of Dublin city, has been used for various businesses since Viking times. The Belfast Bank acquired the property from the British Mutual in 1892, and the interior, which was once the main banking hall, is a stunning example of merchant power, displaying an ornate setting, stained glass ceiling, mosaic tiled floors

and spectacular hand carved cornicing. The Chatwood safes can be found in the basement and are now retained as a museum-type feature. Dining at the Bank is a rare

treat, with lunch, early bird and dinner menus offering mouth-watering dishes. Prices start as low as €4.50 with 3 courses from the early bird menu available at €25, 4pm-7pm, Monday to Friday. From what we’ve seen it isn’t hard to understand why the Bank Bar and Restaurant, College Green, was awarded Bar of the Year 2007 by Licencing World magazine.

After being closed for nigh on eight years, Dublin’s Baggot Inn reopened its doors last year, offering customers a truly unique experience. With 11 booths available for hire, the pub is offering an interactive Guinness or Carlsberg experience, complete with bespoke tables and taps. The Baggot Inn has a long and colourful history which is steeped in music; U2, Christy Moore, Thin Lizzy and The Waterboys have all played here. If the Pull Your Own Pint experience isn’t for you, consider the Mezz Cocktail Bar, with Irish champion Darren Gerathy creating the ultimate in taste

sensations. Choose from Baggot Classics such as the Mojito or Cosmo, to Baggot Contempories, including the Apple Polmos or the Trifle Martini – they all sound great to us! Other impressive offers include the excellent value meal deal which includes a main course and beer for only €10, available Mon-Sat, 5pm-7pm and the hugely popular ladies night, which takes place every Thursday and includes ongoing promotions and presentations. Dandelion – on Dublin’s Stephen’s Green – is billed as a boutique café bar, club, restaurant and venue, and it certainly ticks all those boxes. Open every Friday and Saturday night, and available at all other times for corporate or private events, we visited Dandelion for a much needed work night out. Dandelion is located

over two floors, with the ground floor serving as a very popular bar and restaurant, while the lower ground floor is used as a nightclub. This spot certainly attract Dublin’s young and beautiful set, while the restaurant offers good quality, affordable food that’s been sourced from Irish suppliers. Dandelion is

located on the site where the now legendary Dandelion Market was once to be found, which is, of course, where U2 played their first ever gig. Sadly, there wasn’t any sign of Bono and the boys on the night we were there, but that didn’t stop us from dancing all night long to the hot DJ sounds.

Eco Friendly Luckily, the majority of Irish hoteliers have realised the grave importance attached to protecting our natural environment, with most instigating and adhering to strong environmental principles. While it’s undoubtedly more expensive, purchasing only ecologically responsible wooden furniture is a selling point for any hotel, when it comes to today’s eco-conscious consumer.

The Mini-Bar A hotel mini-bar can offer consider incremental revenue that, if managed correctly, can make a huge difference to the bottom line. However, the use of the hotel mini-bar is reported declining in these economically harsh times. Hotel guests are considerably more conscious of what they spend, while many are buying snacks and soft drinks from nearby supermarkets. If managed correctly however, the mini-bar plays an important part in the guest experience and therefore can’t be overlooked. Before writing off the mini-bar, considering asking your guests at the time of booking if they have any specific preferences in terms of mini-bar stock; regardless of the customer’s answer, you’re sending a very strong message to guests establishing that it’s your business to serve them.

Luxury Spas The hotel Spa experience is a luxury like none other with destination (a purpose built spa offering hotel accommodation) and resort spas (a hotel that offers on-site leisure activity and spa facilities) on the increase. Over-worked consumers are constantly on the hunt for scenic hotel resorts that will leave them refreshed, pampered and invigorated. In this economy however, you don’t want to invest in a facility that isn’t going to show a solid return. Before you do anything else, do you homework. Approach the idea of a spa as you would the introduction of any additional revenue generating space, with research and due diligence.

Care and Maintenance Unless your premises was built entire of face brick, there are surfaces that need to be painted regularly to ensure your property is visually pleasing. Invest in reliable contractors offering price reductions for long-standing customers. The hospitality industry generates huge quantities of laundry at an astronomical yearly cost to the hotel, however, there’s no

doubting the fact that the ‘housekeeping’ experience plays a vital part to overall guest enjoyment.

Again, it’s important to thoroughly investigate pricing and make in-depth comparisons.

The hotel industry in Ireland has reached an all-time competitive high, with hoteliers struggling to produce 5 star luxuries, for far less revenue. Top end furniture is key here, with luxury spas, health clubs

and swimming pools all high on the agenda

Capture Arthur’s Day in Your Pub to Win!Anticipation and excitement is building in bars and pubs across the country in preparation for their Arthur’s Day celebrations which begin on the 24th September, with a nationwide toast to Arthur Guinness to mark the 250 years since the signing of the 9,000 year lease on the St. James’s Gate brewery. Publicans and their customers all across the country will be joining in the Arthur’s Day celebrations by raising a Guinness to Arthur and witnessing the live music events which will be broadcast live into pubs and bars on that night on the Sky TV platform. Guinness Unlugged is a very special incentive for publicans and bar staff to capture images of their toast to Arthur on 24th September which could win their pub a one-off, intimate gig by an international artist to sign-off on a remarkable year of celebrations!
