Joe BrannenHead Coach & Director of Player Personnel

Joe Brannen joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his first season as Head Coach for the team Brannen’s relationship with the Barnstormers began in 2008 when he joined the team’s roster for two seasons. In 2013, he was brought on as head coach for the San Angelo Bandits of the Lone Star Football League (LSFL). Tasked with turning

around the second-year franchise from a 1-11 inaugural season, Coach Brannen led the Bandits to victory during the 2014 LSFL Championship Game.

Upon graduating from Colo-NESCO High School in Colo, Iowa, Brannen attended Coe College in Ce-dar Rapids, Iowa where he was a three-year letter winner, led as team captain, and broke team ca-reer records while being recognized conference-wide for his outstanding performance at quarterback. Brannen later returned to his college alma mater as the team’s quarterback coach.

Brannen made his professional football debut in 2008 as quarterback for the Iowa Barnstormers. As a rookie, the “Colo Cannon” threw 56 touchdowns for 3,000 yards while hauling in 14 scores on the ground.

Brannen also coached high school football at Collins-Maxwell-Baxter.
