Mark your calendar and don’t miss any opportunities to invite everyone at Christmastime. Evening of Grace for ladies on Thursday, December 4 at 6 p.m. I’ll Be Home for Christmas on Saturday, December 13 at 7 p.m.
and Sunday, December 14 at 2 and 6 p.m. In a Galilee Far, Far Away, a Children’s Christmas musical
on Wednesday, December 17 at 6 p.m. Day of Giving for children on Saturday, December 20. Christmas worship on Sunday, December 21 at
9 and 10:30 a.m. Christmas Eve service on Wednesday, December 24 at 5:30 p.m.
And so Advent begins. I encourage you to be faithful in devotion and wor-
ship during this season. Too many things distract us. Purchase an Advent de-
votional book. Use a You-Version app Advent plan on your phone. Meditate
on the infancy narratives in Matthew and Luke. And attend every opportunity
of worship. And find some way to give to those less fortunate than yourself. Do these sim-
ple things and God will surely bless you.
We’re off and running on our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. Our goal is $100,000. That’s a lot of money for our church our size, but we’ve been pretty close to that the last couple of years. Reaching our goal is the equivalent of keeping two missionaries on the field in 2015. Would you pray about giving a sacrificial gift? How about doing less Christmas for your family so you can do more for those who have never heard the gospel? Sitting down and talking about this as a family and making a prayerful, mutual deci-sion will train your children in the importance of missions and generosity and the true mean-ing of Christmas. And think how you could honor someone by making a donation to Lottie Moon in their honor rather than giving them another tie or a bottle of perfume or a gift card. Pray, use your imagination, and God will lead you. Thanks in advance for your generosity.
Thanks for approving the 2015 Budget in overwhelming fashion. The vote was 494-11 or 97.8% to approve. And congratulations to Don White, Bill James, A.J. Johnson, Jamie Hum-ble, and Rich Braley for their election as Deacons! We welcome them to the team.
As we continue our series, The Sounds of Christmas, we’ll be thinking together this Sunday about the sound of a wise man’s question: “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?” Where is He? Let’s talk about that Sunday. See you then.
Your Pastor,
John

Connect Groups (Sunday School) Christmas Parties: Please plan your Connect Group Christmas parties for a great oppor-tunity for Outreach, In-reach and Fel-lowship. Remember to check with the church office if you want to have it at the church or if you need childcare. Remember to invite all your mem-bers, prospects and your “Associate – In-Service” members. This is a great opportunity for Outreach, In-reach and Fellowship.
Get Your Book! During January we are asking all Adult Connect Groups (Sunday
School classes) to use the book, I Am a Church Member in place of your regular curriculum. There are four Sundays in January, so we will cover two chapters per week for the first 3 weeks. Plus we will provide a final application chapter about Dis-covering your gifts and place of service. Books for teachers were provided in your records tubs. The books will be provided for Teachers. Everyone else who would like one may purchase
one for $5.00 for yourself or one per couple in the foyer beginning on December 7. Love, Danny

IT ALL STARTS WITH A GIFT!
AND LIVES ARE CHANGED
THROUGH JESUS CHRIST! We have been given an opportunity again
this Christmas to give the greatest gift of
all to children of incarcerated parents. Angel Tree is a ministry
of the Prison Fellowship where gifts are provided to children on
behalf of their parents in prison. For some it may be the only
contact the child has had from the parent in a very long time.
You can select your Angel from the Christmas tree that will be
in the foyer. Each angel tag on the tree will represent one child.
Each child will receive 2 gifts which should not exceed $20
each. There will be a Christmas party on Saturday, December
20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center for the children and
their families. The children of First Baptist will
be there to welcome these families to our
church and provide entertainment. Everyone is
invited to come. Please contact Charlotte Ar-
nold at 318-6133 or Cathy Slater at 623-4729
for more information or to ask how you can
help.
RISE Homebound Ministry
RISE needs ladies to deliver the Sunday altar flowers to the home-bound. You would make two deliveries once a month on a Tuesday. Time of day is up to you. The flowers are arranged and there is an
