MatthewJHooban,Manager LaShawnn'sinternshipwasfocusedagreatdealonlearning,andthatwentbeyondhisroleasacommunicationsintern.LaShawnncametoHBGwithlittlepreviouscorporateexperience,andthatpavedthewayforustoteachhimagreatdealaboutHBG,thepublishingindustryingeneral,andhowcorporationscommunicateinternally.Thenumberofprojectshewastaskedwithemphasizedthebreadthoftheworkwedo,andthereweretwoprojectsinparticularwherehedemonstratedclearimprovementandownership:theDigitalDigestandthe"LifeofaBook"diagram.TheDigitalDigestgaveLaShawnnachancetoidentifytrendsandstorylinesinthemostdynamicaspectofourindustry.TheLifeofaBookgavehimachancetointernalizethedetailsofthepublishingprocessandtodevelopavisualmetaphortoexplainit.Inthesetwoprojectsinparticular,LaShawnnmadesignificantprogressandprovedtobeaquickanddiligentstudy.LaShawnnisbrightandenergetic,andhewasgracioustowardeveryonehewasintroducedto.Hiseasearoundthepeopleheworkedwithwasasimpressiveashisworkethic.Igreatlyenjoyedgettingtoknowhim,andwitnessinghisprogresseveryweek.Hereallywasadelighttohaveinthecommunicationsdepartment,andIhopehelearnedasmuchfromusaswedidfromhim.
