After the Lord was baptized, the heavens were opened, and the Spirit

The Four Gifts from Christ to Us

The Baptism of the Lord is a time to reflect on our own. And so we look at a few essential truths. Why does Jesus ask for

baptism? He identifies with sinners, even if He never sinned. He is not embarrassed or ashamed that some might think

him a sinner. He humbly accepts to be found in the company of sinners like us, and even to be seen as one of us. Praise

be Jesus Christ!

“After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him, and he

saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens,

saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

So when Jesus goes into the water we go with him. And He acquires four gifts on our behalf:

Access – the heavens are opened. Original Sin had closed Heaven and Paradise to us. With Jesus’ baptism, Heaven re-opens. So, at our baptism, with Heaven open, we have access to the Father. “Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we

have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand,

(Romans 5:1) It also says,

“For through Jesus we have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you

are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God (Eph 2:17).

Anointing – the Spirit of God descends on Him. Jesus acquires the Gift of the Holy Spirit for us. In Baptism we are not

just washed of sins, but we also become temples of the Holy Spirit. Then there is the anointing with chrism which signifies

the presence of the Holy Spirit. For adults this is Confirmation. But even for infants, there is an anointing at baptism to

recognize that the Spirit of God dwells in the baptized as in a temple.

Acknowledgment – this is my beloved Son. In our won Baptism we become the children of God. On the day of your

Baptism the heavenly Father acknowledged you as his own dear Child. Scripture says: You are all sons of God through

faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ (Gal 3:26)

Approval – I am well pleased. Jesus had always pleased His Father. Now He acquires this gift for us. Our own Baptism

gives us sanctifying grace, which is the grace to be holy and pleasing to God. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord

Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the

foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Eph 1:1-3)

Consider well the glorious gift of your Baptism. The date should be highly celebrated as your birthday. “Hallelujah!”

Los Cuatro Regalos de Cristo a nosotros

El Bautismo del Señor es un tiempo para reflexionar sobre nuestra propia. Y así nos fijamos en algunas verdades esenciales. ¿Por qué Jesús pide el bautismo? Se identifica con los pecadores, aunque nunca pecó. Él no está avergonzado de que

algunos podrían pensar de Él un pecador. Él humildemente acepta que se encuentra en compañía de los pecadores como

nosotros, e incluso a ser visto como uno de nosotros. ¡Alabado sea Jesucristo!

"Después de que Jesús fue bautizado, Él se ocurrió a partir del agua y he aquí, los cielos se abrieron para él, y vio al Espíritu de Dios que descendía como paloma, y venía sobre él. Y vino una voz de los cielos, que decía:

"Este es mi Hijo amado, en quien tengo complacencia."

Así que cuando Jesús entra en el agua vamos con él. Y Él adquiere cuatro regalos en nuestro nombre:

Acceso - se abren los cielos. Pecado Original se cerró el cielo y el paraíso para nosotros. Con el bautismo de Jesús, el

cielo se vuelve a abrir. Así, en nuestro bautismo, con el cielo abierto, tenemos acceso al Padre. "Por lo tanto, ya que

estamos justificados por la fe, tenemos paz para con Dios por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. A través de él hemos

obtenido el acceso a esta gracia en la cual estamos firmes, (Romanos 5: 1) También dice:

"Por medio de Jesús tenemos entrada por un mismo Espíritu al Padre. Así entonces ya no sois extraños ni forasteros, pero

ustedes son conciudadanos de los santos y miembros de la familia de Dios (Ef 2:17).

Unción - el Espíritu de Dios desciende sobre Él. Jesús adquiere el don del Espíritu Santo para nosotros. En el Bautismo

no sólo estamos lavados de los pecados, sino que también nos convertimos en templos del Espíritu Santo. Luego está la

unción con el crisma, que significa la presencia del Espíritu Santo. Para los adultos esto es la confirmación. Pero incluso para

los niños, hay una unción en el bautismo para reconocer que el Espíritu de Dios habita en los bautizados como en un

templo.

Reconocimiento - este es mi Hijo amado. En nuestro Bautismo ganado llegamos a ser hijos de Dios. En el día de su

bautismo del Padre celestial que reconoció como su propio hijo querido. La Escritura dice: Todos vosotros sois hijos de Dios

por la fe en Cristo Jesús, porque todos los que habéis sido bautizados en Cristo os habéis revestido de Cristo (Gálatas 3:26)

Aprobación - tengo complacencia. Jesús siempre había complacido a su Padre. Ahora Adquiere este regalo para

nosotros. Nuestro propio Bautismo nos da la gracia santificante, que es la gracia de ser santo y agradable a Dios. "Bendito

sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que nos ha bendecido en Cristo con toda bendición espiritual en los cielos,

según nos escogió en él antes de la fundación del mundo, para ser santos e inmaculados en su presencia." (Efesios 1: 1-3)

Considere también el don de la gloria de su bautismo. La fecha debe ser altamente celebrada como su cumpleaños.

Jubilee Year of Mercy

March for Life In this Holy Year of Mercy, we must persevere in our

prayers on behalf of the Holy Innocents, the elderly, the

terminally ill, and stand against the malicious sins against the human body. We must pray and speak out

when body parts are sold for profit or on “behalf of the greater good.”

To this end, you are called to join me for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a Rosary, Confessions, and a special

Mass on Friday, Jan. 22, beginning at 5pm in the lower church. These services are the most powerful witness to the

Works of Mercy required of us by God. Let us join the millions of believers that will be marching on the US Capitol and giving witness to the Gospel of

humanity created in the image and likeness of God.

oraciones a favor de los Santos Inocentes, los ancianos, los enfermos

terminales, y estar en contra de los pecados maliciosos del cuerpo humano.

Con este fin, estás llamados a unirse conmigo para la adoración del Santísimo Sacramento, un Rosario, Confesiones, y una Misa especial el viernes 22 de

Sacramento de la Reconciliación y La Hora Santa El Adviento es un tiempo de preparación que dirige nuestros corazones y mentes a la segunda venida de Cristo al encontrar su nacimiento en la Navidad. Durante esta temporada, los sacerdotes están ayudando a traerles en una mayor intimidad con el Señor, ofreciendo una Hora Santa semanal con las Confesiones. Este sacramento es un regalo que nos ha dado Jesús para que podamos renovar nuestra fe, reavivar nuestra relación con Dios y recibir su perdón y el amor curativo todos los sábados desde las 3:45-4:45. Así que vengan y retornen a esta fuente increíble de la gracia, la misericordia y la sanación de Dios. Sacrament of Reconciliation & Holy Hour Advent is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second

coming by encountering His birth on Christmas. During this Season, the priests are helping to bring you into greater intimacy with Our LORD by offering a weekly Holy Hour with Confessions. This Sacrament is a gift given to us by Jesus so we can renew our faith,

rekindle our relationship with God, and receive His forgiveness and healing love Every Saturday from 3:45pm to 4:45pm. So come and return to this incredible source of God’s

grace, mercy, and healing. Let us renew the face of our parish as we encounter God’s forgiveness during the Holy Year of Mercy.
