2016 ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP APPEAL

We are often reminded by our Holy Father Pope Francis and Sacred Scripture that in order to

love one another we must share the blessings which God has provided to us.

In Acts, Chapter 4, we learn that the early Church shared all possessions with one another so that the apostles and early Christian communities could fully proclaim “the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There was no needy person among them.” We are called to similarly share what is granted to us by God and return it to Him so that not

one of our brothers and sisters goes without: without the gift of faith; without the essential human needs; and without a personal relationship with Our Lord. We are called to Share God’s Blessings, and when we do, we find freedom and joy in proclaiming the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, just as the apostles did over 2,000 years ago!

Will you join your brothers and sisters in Sharing God’s Blessings?

COLECTA PARA LA ADMINISTRACIÓN ANUAL

A menudo nos recordamos por nuestro Santo Padre Francisco y la Sagrada Escritura que para amarse unos a otros debemos compartir las bendiciones que Dios ha provisto para nosotros.

En Hechos, capítulo 4, nos enteramos de que la Iglesia primitiva compartió todas sus posesiones entre sí por lo que él los apóstoles y comunidades cristianas totalmente podían proclamar "la

resurrección del Señor Jesús, y gran favor a todos ellos se le concedió. No había entre ellos ningún necesitado ".

Estamos llamados a compartir de manera similar lo que se concede a nosotros por Dios y devolverlo a Él para que ni uno solo de nuestros hermanos y hermanas hace falta: sin el don de la

fe; sin las necesidades humanas esenciales; y sin una relación personal con el Señor. ¡Estamos llamados a compartir las bendiciones de Dios, y cuando lo hacemos, nos encontramos con la

libertad y la alegría en la proclamación de la resurrección del Señor Jesús, al igual que los apóstoles hicieron hace más de 2.000 años!

¿Te unirás con sus hermanos y hermanas en compartir las bendiciones de Dios?

Que Dios los bendiga por su generosidad!

FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT

The people of Nazareth know Jesus, Mary and Joseph. It’s sometimes difficult to imagine great things

from these we know well and intimately. And even though Christ’s words at first were well-received,

doubt entered the peoples’ minds. Who does He think He is? He has crossed the line. Their doubts now

clashed with Jesus’s challenge to Israel’s past.

God was merciful to those not of Israel. Namaan the Syrian - a hated foe and military leader – received

divine favor.

See, God is bigger than we think. God doesn’t reflect our prejudices, fears, and desires. And the people

of Nazareth – and many today – are not comfortable with this Truth. They instead turn to violence.

Those with a material or emotional stake in the status quo probably react in a similar way.

When we encounter The Living God, it is seldom in ways we

expect – God is a God of surprise, change, and challenge.

LA FAMILIARIDAD ENGENDRA DESPRECIO

La gente de Nazaret conocen a Jesús, María y José. A veces es

difícil imaginar grandes cosas de ellos que conocemos bien e

íntimamente. Y aunque las palabras de Cristo fueron bien recibidas al principio, la duda entro en las

mentes de las personas. ¿Quién se cree que es? Ha cruzado la línea. Las dudas del pueblo ahora se

enfrentaron con el desafío de Jesús al pasado de Israel.

Dios fue misericordioso con los que no eran de Israel. Naamán el sirio- un enemigo odiado y líder militar

- recibió el favor divino.

Mira, Dios es más grande de lo que pensamos. Dios no refleja nuestros prejuicios, temores y deseos. Y la

gente de Nazaret - y muchos hoy en día - no se sienten cómodos con esta Verdad. Ellos en lugar,

recurren a la violencia. Los que tienen un interés material o emocional en mantener las condiciones

siempre así sin cambiar nada, probablemente, reaccionan de manera similar.

Cuando nos encontramos con el Dios Vivo, lo hacemos de la manera que menos esperamos - Dios es un Dios

de sorpresas, de cambio y de desafío.
