Release10atEPFL

IMPORTANT : 

Please read carefully this document until the end because no support for this release will be done 

yet during some months; as this release is really new at EPFL, the Support team needs some time to 

be able to answer to the EPFL users’ requests. 

Then thank you to accept if not everything is working perfectly. 

If you have problem to access the install folder, see with your IT administrator this kind of issue. 

   

Map a network drive on \\adpcb.epfl.ch\app\altium\AD10\Altium Repository with your Active Directory account AND with the “Reconnect at logon” feature enabled. In this documentation, the drive Z: will be used. It is necessary to have this mapped drive in order to could install AND update later too. If you are logged with your Active Directory credential, that is not necessary to do that ELSE THAT IS MANDATORY else AD10 will not find the Update repository. 

IMPORTANT : For the username, let’s specify your domain too like for example “sti\myusername”. 

You must be registered as Altium user at EPFL to have rights for accessing this repository. If it is your case but you couldn’t access it, please contact your IT administrator. NO SUPPORT WILL BE DONE BY ALTIUM SUPPORT AT EPFL BEFORE SOME MONTHS !! 

Launch the installer AltiumInstaller.exe from your mapped drive (Z: in my case) 

 

Click Next 

 

Accept the agreement and click Next 

 

If you received this Account request, bypass it by clicking Cancel or by introducing your account information if you have an Altium account. 

By default an Altium account is created only on demand at support Altium at EPFL but it is not necessary for standard use. We are not at this moment interested to have users with this account because the surcharge of support then we filter all requests before allowing them. 

 

For the Platform Repository and Version, first you must specify the location of the Repository at EPFL specify, means \\adpcb.epfl.ch\app\altium\AD10\Altium Repository. If it is not right, select   <Other...> 

 

and apply the right path. 

 

If many versions and Platform revisions are available, select that you want. Then press Next 

 

If you would like many versions in parallel, change the folders (cf. Installing Multiple Revisions of the same Platform Version) 

Then press Next 

 

Press Next 

 

Wait during the installation.. 

It takes time but everything at the last revision will be installed. 

When the installation is finished, launch Altium Designer Release 10 (from your Windows Start menu) and configure it. 

 

About the Firewall, if necessary Allow access in order than Altium Designer could access the licenses’ server. 

 

Manage this message function of your OS (32 or 64 bits) and your needs. Parallel port could be used with FPGA programmer tools then supporting only a 32 bits OS. 

 

On menu DXP select Preferences 

 

On System\Account Management choice “No, I whish to remain disconnected from Altium” except if you have an account. 

 

 

On System\Installation Manager configure the Remote Repository Location on the one at EPFL : \\adpcb.epfl.ch\app\Altium\AD10\Altium Repository 

On menu DXP select My Account 

 

Click on Setup private license server (perhaps you must close or move the Storage Manager windows to see the function) 

 

and configure the new dedicated server for Altium Designer 10 Release : 

Server name : adpcb.epfl.ch 

Server port : 21002  (not anymore 21001 please) 

AND not secondary server at time but you will be informed if one will be defined. 

 

Then select the Altium Designer Custom Board Implementation, Release 10 listed under Private Server ‐ Connected to adpcb.epfl.ch 

and click on Use function and you will find your PC listed if you have the License expanded (else click on the + at the left of the license to check that). 

 

Remarque : As a direct path is specified without to pass via a mapped drive, it could be possible that your Active Directory credential will be asked to you when Altium will need it. That is the case if you are not logged with this Active Directory account. 

 

 

All the best for the suite and know that NO SUPPORT for this release will be done at EPFL before some months, time in order to prepare the team for that. 

Just one more information : it will have courses and workshops at EPFL for Altium and we hope to have centralized libraries too.
