1-2 | Introduction

You can also use the Batch Install Solution for SSA Baan IVc4 environments in languages other than English, Dutch, German, or French. After you install the Batch Install Solution software, you must install the Language Packs. The following Language Packs are available:

Chinese Simplified = o

Chinese Traditional = n

Danish = 7

Finnish = f

Italian = 6

Japanese = j

Norwegian = 8

Portuguese (European) = P

Spanish = 5

Swedish = 9

For best results, SSA strongly recommends that you closely follow the installation sequence as described in this document. Deviations from this sequence can result in problems during the installation process.

Before you can install the Batch Install Solution, the SSA Baan IVc4 software must be installed and PMC must be set up.

Make sure that porting set 6.1c.07.05 or a later version of the porting set is installed before installing the Batch Install Solution.

During the installation of the Batch Install Solution, you cannot use the SSA Baan software in the environment in which the installation is carried out.

Note that during the installation process, your user language must be the language, or one of the languages, in which you installed the master media. You can define the user language in the Maintain User Data (ttaad2100m000) session.

Do not validate your environment anywhere during the installation process of the SSA Baan IVc4 SP1-18 Batch Install Solution. Instead, you can validate your system at the following two points:

Immediately after you complete the installation process of the underlying master medium containing SSA Baan IVc4 and before you install the SSA Baan IVc4 SP1-18 Batch Install Solution.

After you complete the entire installation process of the SSA Baan IVc4 SP1-18 Batch Install Solution.

This guide does not provide the instructions on how to install the SSA Baan IVc4 software. You can find these instructions in separate installation guides.

2Chapter 2 Installation preparations

2-2 | Installation preparations

General information about the installation of the SSA Baan IVc4 software is provided in the SSA® Baan IVc4 – Deployment Guide for UNIX and Windows (U7949 US). Please read the following sections completely for additional instructions related to the SSA Baan IVc4 software installation in combination with the Batch Install Solution.

To run the SSA Baan IVc4 software in multiple languages, you must install all the languages from the master media in the SSA Baan environment before you set up PMC and install the Batch Install Solution. Updating an existing SSA Baan environment with an additional language after the Batch Install Solution (or future Service Packs or individual solutions) is installed can lead to corrupt software in the Tools area. Tools components will be overwritten with old versions of these components.

To run one or more extensions of the SSA Baan IVc4 software, you must install the required extensions from the master media in the SSA Baan environment before you set up PMC and install the Batch Install Solution.

If you want to use the SSA Baan IV c4 Aerospace & Defense (and1) extension, then you must install in the following sequence:

Install the SSA Baan IVc4 standard software from the master medium.

Set up PMC for the SSA Baan IVc4 standard software and install the Batch Install Solution for the SSA Baan IVc4 standard software.

Install the SSA Baan IVc4 Aerospace & Defense (and1) extension from the Aerospace & Defense medium.

Set up PMC for the SSA Baan IVc4 Aerospace & Defense (and1) extension and install the Batch Install Solution for the SSA Baan IVc4 Aerospace & Defense (and1) extension.

To install SSA Baan IVc4 on a UNIX server

For installation of the SSA Baan IVc4 software on a UNIX server, refer to the SSA Baan® IVc4 - Installation Guide for UNIX (U7016 US).

The Post-installation tasks section in Chapter 2 of the SSA® Baan IVc4 - Installation Guide for UNIX describes the installation of a patch CD-ROM. You can skip this task, because no patch CD-ROM is delivered for SSA Baan IVc4. If a CD-ROM called Service Pack B40 c4.2 CD (BD0024-0069) is included in the box, do not install the dumps of that CD-ROM.

Installation preparations | 2-3

The installation of a Service Pack is also described in Chapter 2 of the SSA Baan IVc4 Technical Notes (U7098 US). You can skip the instructions on the installation of the Service Pack B40 c4.2 compact disk and the instructions on the installation of the additional dumps for euro (€) functionality. If you want to perform euro conversions, for the latest information about the euro, contact your local support center.

To install SSA Baan IVc4 on a Windows system

You can carry out the SSA Baan IVc4 software installation on a Windows system with the help of one of the Installation Guides. Refer to the SSA® Baan IVc4 – Deployment Guide for UNIX and Windows (U7949 US) for information about the relevant document. To install a SSA Baan IV extension as an update on the SSA Baan IVc4 standard software, you must use the Installation Guide for the Baan IVc4 extensions on Windows NT (U7101 US).

If a CD-ROM called Service Pack B40 c4.2 CD (BD0024-0069) is included in the box, do not install the dumps of that CD-ROM.

The installation of a Service Pack is also described in Chapter 2 of the SSA Baan IVc4 Technical Notes (U7098 US). You can skip the instructions on the installation of the Service Pack B40 c4.2 CD_ROM and the instructions on the installation of the additional dumps for euro (€) functionality. If you want to perform euro conversions, for the latest information about the euro, contact your local support center.

To set up PMC

You must set up PMC after you install the SSA Baan IVc4 software, including post installation tasks and customization of the SSA Baan IV software, as described in the Installation Guide for SSA Baan IVc4, and before you install the Batch Install Solution. For instructions on how to set up PMC, refer to the BaanIVc4 - Quick Guide PMC. This document is on the Documentation folder of the SSA Baan IVc4 Batch Install Solution CD-ROM. Carry out all steps mentioned in the BaanIVc4 - Quick Guide PMC. These steps are:

Initialize PMC (ttpmc0299m000)

Maintain Parameters (ttpmc0100m000)

2-4 | Installation preparations

Generate Update VRC Structure (ttpmc2240m000, refer to the special instructions as mentioned in the next section below)

Maintain VRC Combinations (ttpmc2150m000)

Maintain Update VRC's by VRC Combination (ttpmc2155m000)

Create Runtime Data Dictionary (ttadv5210m000)

The following sections provide instructions about how to generate the Update VRC Structure in PMC. Information on how to generate the Update VRC Structure is described in “To initialize PMC” in the BaanIVc4 - Quick Guide PMC. The Batch Install Solution requires a specific setting in the Generate Update VRC Structure (ttpmc2240m000) session, depending on the extensions that are used in the SSA Baan IVc4 environment.

Update VRC for standard software

You can generate the Update VRC structure with the following settings in the Generate Update VRC Structure (ttpmc2240m000) session:

The Update Customer field is set to stnd. You cannot overwrite this value.

The VRC Combination field is set to B40c4 in the previous figure. This value is not mandatory. You can choose any VRC combination.

Installation preparations | 2-5

The Create Update VRC's check box must be selected, as shown in the previous figure.

The Customization Type field defaults to U. You cannot overwrite this default value with another value.

The Change Derivation of other VRC's check box must be selected, as shown in the previous figure.

The Update Package Combinations check box can be selected, however, this is not mandatory. If this check box is selected, the session will search in the selected range of package combinations for package combinations that include a package for VRC B40 c4. The session then replaces VRC B40 c4 with B40U c4 stnd, which is the update VRC that will be created for standard software. If the check box is not selected, you must select your package combinations manually and modify the combinations manually, if required.

Update VRC for ags0 extension

For the Automotive Global Solution (ags0) extension, you must generate the update VRC structure in two steps. The reason for this is because this extension uses two different VRCs so that you must generate two update VRC structures. You can generate the update VRCs with the following settings in the Generate Update VRC Structure (ttpmc2240m000) session:

2-6 | Installation preparations

The Update Customer fields are set to stnd and cnt0. You cannot overwrite these values with other values.

The VRC Combination field is set to B40c4 in the previous figure. These settings are not mandatory. You can choose any VRC combination.

The Create Update VRCs check box must be selected, as in the previous figure.

The Customization Type field defaults to U. You cannot overwrite this default value with another value.

The Change Derivation of other VRCs check box must be selected, as shown in the previous figure.

You can select the Update Package Combinations check box, however, this is not mandatory. If you select this check box, the session searches in the selected range of package combinations for package combinations that include a package for VRC B40 c4 or for VRC B40L c4 cnt0. The session replaces VRC B40 c4 with B40U c4 stnd, which is the update VRC that will be created for standard software, and replaces VRC B40L c4 cnt0 with B40U c4 cnt0, which is the update VRC that will be created for cnt0 software. If the check box is not selected, you must check your package combinations manually and modify the package combinations manually, if required.

Installation preparations | 2-7

For the second step, you must start the Generate Update VRC Structure (ttpmc2240m000) session again, and use the following settings:

You must only enter one line for the Standard VRC field, which has the value B40L c4 ags0, and you must clear the remaining four fields for Localizations. Set the Update Customer field to ags0.

The VRC Combination field is set to B40c4 in the previous figure. This value is not mandatory. You can choose any VRC combination.

The Create Update VRCs check box must be selected, as shown in the figure.

The Customization Type field defaults to U. You cannot overwrite this default value with another value.

The Change Derivation of other VRCs check box must be selected, as in the previous figure.

The Update Package Combinations check box can be selected, however, this is not mandatory. If you select this check box, the session searches in the selected range of package combinations for package combinations that include a package for VRC B40L c4 ags0. The session replaces VRC B40L c4 ags0 with B40U c4 ags0, which is the update VRC that will be created for ags0 software. If the check box is not selected, you must check and modify your package combinations manually, if required.

2-8 | Installation preparations

The Batch Install Solution procedure enables you to quickly install all SSA Baan IVc4 Service Packs up to SP18 in a new SSA Baan IVc4 environment. You can find the software for the Service Packs on the SSA Baan IVc4 Batch Install Solution CD-ROM. The Batch Install Solution procedure to install Service Packs consists of the following steps, each of which is described in detail in subsequent sections:

1 Read solution 201167 for the latest information

2 Check customization

3 Select the files from the CD-ROM

4 Install the standard application software

5 Install the software for extensions

6 Install the tools software

7 Create the runtime data dictionary

8 Install additional Tools components

9 Import the PMC registry

3Chapter 3 To Install the SP Batch Install Solution

3-2 | To Install the SP Batch Install Solution

To read solution 201167 for the latest information

Before you start the Service Packs for SSA Baan IVc4 installation using the Batch Install Solution procedure, read solution 201167 on the SSA One Point Support (Baan) Web site at www.support.baan.com for the latest information about known installation problems.

To check customization

Before installing the Batch Install Solution check if you have customized the Project field (domain tccprj). It is especially important to check the size of this domain: in the standard software it is 6 characters. If the size of this domain is enlarged (for example, to 7 or 8 characters) in your environment, then special instructions have to be executed during the installation of the Batch Install Solution.

If the Project field (domain tccprj) is customized, then you need to apply the same customization to the new domain tcrefo after installing the standard application software and before creating the runtime data dictionary. For example, if the length of the domain tccprj was changed from 6 to 8 characters, then you need to customize domain tcrefo and change the length of domain tcrefo to 8 characters as well. Not applying this customization to the new domain tcrefo, will lead to data corruption or loss of data in the Product Variant Ids (tipcf500) table!

This new domain is needed for the new feature to enlarge order numbers, which was introduced in Service Pack 15.

To select the files from the CD-ROM

For UNIX users, copy the files from the Software folder of the CD-ROM to a temporary directory on the UNIX system. When you copy the files, you must use a transfer protocol in binary mode. If you have the facility to mount a CD-ROM to your UNIX platform, transfer of files from the CD-ROM to the UNIX system is unnecessary. In this situation, you can install directly from the CD-ROM. For information on how to mount a CD-ROM to your UNIX system, refer to the documentation from your hardware vendor. Windows users can read the files from the Software folder of the CD-ROM.

To Install the SP Batch Install Solution | 3-3

The size of the dumps from the CD-ROM is approximately 495 MB. You do not have to transfer or select all files. The files for the standard software are always required. These files are in the stnd folder, which you can find in the Software folder of the CD-ROM. The following table lists the additional files that are required if you use an extension of the SSA Baan IVc4 software:

To install the standard application software

Import the file stnd/batsp18stnd.dmp with the Import Patch (ttiex1284m000) session and use the following settings:

The first part of the Path Patch File is entered here as /tmp. You must replace this path description with the path where the dump is placed on your system, or the CD-ROM drive if you work on a Windows system.

Note: The Overwrite Newer Objects field does not exist in all SSA Baan IVc4 versions. You can continue the installation even if your version does not have this field.

To install the software for extensions

The software that you must import for extensions depends on the extensions that are used in your environment. The previous table shows the folders on the CD-ROM from which the software dump must be imported. For most extensions, only one folder and one software dump are required.

To Install the SP Batch Install Solution | 3-5

The exceptions are:

The Automotive Global Solution extension, for which two dumps, ags0 and cnt0, must be imported. In this case, you must carry out the following step two times: once for each software dump folder.

The Supply Chain - Italian localization, for which three dumps, sch0, sch1, and its0, must be imported. In this case, you must carry out the following step three times: once for each software dump folder.

In the example, the Controlling (cnt0) extension is used as an example. If you must install another extension, replace the extension cnt0 with the appropriate extension for our installation, which you can find in the previous table.

Import the dump file for the required extension with the Import Patch (ttiex1284m000) session and use the following settings:

3-20 | To Install the SP Batch Install Solution

The instructions in this chapter are only relevant if you use one or more SSA Baan IVc4 extensions. If you only use the SSA Baan IVc4 standard software, you can skip the instructions in this chapter.

The installation of the software of the extensions from the SSA Baan IVc4 master media has created an excessive number of components in SSA Baan IV. These components are unused, but can negatively affect the performance of the software after you install the Service Packs or other solutions. You must delete these unused components with the instructions in the following sections.

Note: You must be logged on to the system as user bsp (or baan for Windows environments). If you do not have sufficient permissions, the unused components will not be removed.

Note: This Batch Install Solution has the software and the US English, Dutch, German and French translations, up to and including Service Pack 18. However for the languages enumerated previously, the translations are not available for all Service Packs. The translations are available for:

Chinese Simplified: till Service Pack 12

Chinese Traditional: till Service Pack 17

Japanese: till Service Pack 13

All other languages: till Service Pack 15

You can install this Batch Install Solution for these languages without the translations of all Service Packs. However the consequence will be that new terms created in the latest Service Packs (that are not yet translated) will appear in US English in your environment.

Service Packs will only be translated to other languages upon request. Please contact your SSA account manager if you wish to request a translation for this Service Pack. Requests for translations will be consolidated and processed by the SSA Global Regional Solutions Management departments.

To install Language Packs | 5-3

Availability of additional translations for Service Pack 18 is published under solution number 147942 on the SSA One Point Support (Baan) Web site.

To set up B-language support in PMC

One of the enhancements of Service Pack 12 was the introduction of the advanced B-language support in PMC. If you want to install one of the B-languages in your environment, you must activate the advanced B-language support before you install any Language Pack. For more details, refer to the Baan IVc4 – PMC B-language Support Guide (U8216A US) that is included in the CD-ROM’s Documentation folder.

Define the B-language parameter settings and the B-languages as described in the Baan IVc4 – PMC B-language Support Guide (U8216A US) before you proceed with the following steps for installing a Language Pack.

Note: The language o (Chinese – Simplified) shall not be defined as a B-language yet if you want to install the Chinese – Simplified translation. Refer to Appendix A for special instructions for this language.

To select the files from the CD-ROM

For UNIX users, copy the files from the Translations folder of the CD-ROM to a temporary directory on the UNIX system. You do not have to transfer or select all files. First, select the language in the Translations folder. For each language, you can find a folder with the language packs for each extension or standard.

The files for the standard software are always required. You can find these files in the stnd folder, which you can find in the Translations folder on the CD-ROM.

5-4 | To install Language Packs

To install a language pack

The files of the language packs are in PMC format and must be installed using the PMC installation process. For instructions on how to install PMC solutions, refer to “Import patches by PMC,” in the BaanIVc4 - Quick Guide PMC document, which is in the Documentation folder of the SSA Baan IVc4 Batch Install Solution CD-ROM.

The procedure to install the PMC solutions consists of the following basic steps:

1 Scan all required files

2 Process the solutions

3 Copy components of solutions to B-language

4 Create the runtime data dictionary

To install Language Packs | 5-5

To scan all required files

Scan all required files with the Scan Solution File (ttpmc2200m000) session. If all files related to one extension (or standard software) are in one directory, you can enter the directory name in the Solution File field this session and then the session will scan all files in the directory. Example for the Spanish language for the standard software:

The Print and Overwrite check boxes are cleared.

To process the solutions

Process (install) the solutions with the Process Solutions (ttpmc2101m000) session. In the Process Solutions (ttpmc2101m000) session, on the Special menu, click Check Solution to Install and Install Solution. Due to the dependencies that have been defined between the PMC solutions, you are not required to process all solutions individually.

Crystal Enterprise interface with financial statements

This section only applies if you want to use the Crystal Enterprise reporting tool and the interface with the financial statements of SSA Baan IVc4. The following additional installation instructions apply:

1 Read the document U7958AUS.pdf, which you can find in the CD-ROM’s Documentation\Crystal Integration folder.

2 The sample reports Zip file, which is referred to in Chapter 5 of this document, is called fstb40c4.zip and can be found in the CD-ROM’s Documentation\Crystal Integration folder.

This integration was introduced in Service Pack 12 through solution 126238.

Reference documents

The current Batch Install Solution is an accumulation of a number of Service Packs that were distributed in the past. Each Service Pack was accompanied by a number of documents that described how to install the Service Pack, functional enhancements that were implemented in the Service Pack, overviews of modified components, overviews of solution descriptions, and so on. All these documents are included on the Batch Install Solution medium as reference materials and background information.

The Documentation\SP<Service Pack Number> folders contain the documentation that belongs to the Service Pack.

The Documentation\Report Archiving folder contains an XML document with predefined settings and a deployment guide for the new Report Archiving solution. This enhancement was introduced in Service Pack 15. For more details, refer to solution 139193 in the documentation of Service Pack 15. A license is needed for implementing this enhancement; refer to solution 143726 in the documentation of Service Pack 17.

The Documentation\Enlarging Order Numbers folder contains an implementation guide for the enlarging of order numbers. This feature was introduced in Service Pack 15. For more details, refer to solution 138962 in the documentation of Service Pack 15.

Integrations with other applications

The SSA Baan IVc4 product integrates with various other applications. The following additional actions are known:

If you use the iPack for the integration between Baan IVc4 and iBaan Sourcing 1.0, a new version of iBaan Sourcing 1.0 must be installed. You can find the required version of iBaan Sourcing 1.0 on the SSA One Point Support (Baan) Web site under solution number 135952

If you use the iPack for the integration between Baan IVc4 and iBaan Time and Expense 1.0, a new solution for iBaan Time and Expense 1.0 must be installed. You can find the solution for iBaan Time and Expense 1.0 on the SSA One Point Support (Baan) Web site under solution number 134337

If you use a Baan OpenWorld based integration with Baan IVc4 and that integration uses NetList functionality, then the minimum required Baan OpenWorld version is 2.5 (OpenWorld X second release)

If you use the iPack for the integration between Baan IVc4 and E-Procurement 2.2, a new solution for E-Procurement 2.2 must be installed. You can find the solution for E-Procurement 2.2 on the SSA One Point Support (Baan) Web site under solution number 138413

This action is only relevant if you have a valid OpenWorld Studio 2.2 or 2.3 license and use the OpenWorld BOI Builder 2.2 or 2.3 for creating BOI’s in your Baan IVc4 environment. Fixes were made in the BOI Builder for solutions 139533 and 139541 in Service Pack 15. For a complete solution, you need to install an additional dump that is not in PMC format. Instructions for ordering this dump can be found on the SSA One Point Support (Baan) Web site under solution number 116282

Uninstall facilities

The Batch Install Solution contains an accumulation of various Service Packs. You cannot uninstall a Service Pack that is part of the Batch Install Solution by means of PMC. You also cannot uninstall individual solutions that are part of the Batch Install Solution.

Miscellaneous | 7-3

Source code availability

Source code is not included on the CD-ROM for the Batch Install Solution. The sources have been added to the SSA Baan IVc4 source CD-ROM and can be ordered by authorized SSA Baan Alliances through the normal source code ordering process.

7-4 | Miscellaneous

The instructions in this appendix are only relevant if you want to install the Chinese – Simplified translation.

Some of the solutions for the Chinese – Simplified language are not in the new PMC B-language format and will therefore overwrite the Service Pack 18 components with older versions of the components. In order to avoid this, you need to re-install the US English software for the standard application and tools during the installation process.

The table with Process language dependent solutions in Chapter 5 of this guide shows the solutions that must be processed for the Chinese – Simplified translation:

spb40c4_3-o

spb40c4_3to

spb40c4_7-o

spb40c4_12-o

stb40c4_12-o

Before processing any of these solutions, the language o (Chinese – Simplified) shall not be defined as a B-language in the Maintain B-Languages by Update VRC (ttpmc3101m000) session.

A Appendix A To install the Chinese - Simplified translation

A-2 | To install the Chinese - Simplified translation

After processing the spb40c4_3-o, spb40c4_3to and the spb40c4_7-o solutions and before processing the spb40c4_12-o and stb40c4_12-o solutions, the following steps need to be executed:

1 Install the standard application software. Follow the instructions in the “To install the standard application software” section in Chapter 3 to install the stnd/batsp18stnd.dmp file.

2 Install the tools software. Follow the instructions in step 5 of the “To install the tools software” section in Chapter 3 to install the stnd/batsp18tls.dmp file.

3 Use the Maintain B-Languages by Update VRC (ttpmc3101m000) session to define language o (Chinese – Simplified) as a B-language.

You can now continue the installation of the spb40c4_12-o and the stb40c4_12-o solutions and the remaining steps as per the instructions in Chapter 5.
