Staying Cyber SafeEmployee safety is a priority at Phillips 66 . We work hard to promote our culture of safety, protect individuals and keep our workplace accident-free . But in today’s society, where services and processes have become increasingly digital, physical safety alone isn’t enough . Cyber safety has also taken precedence as a priority in our lives .

In 2014, major companies such as Yahoo!, Home Depot and UPS, were the victims of cyberattacks . Unfortunately, costly data breaches aren’t restricted to the business world . Everyday consumers, like you and me, are also being targeted by cybercriminals . For a closer look at this topic, see “Safety First — Protect Your Personal Information” on page 3 .

While we can all agree that advances in technology have made our lives easier and more efficient in many ways, there is a downside to 24/7 connectivity . For example, as we integrate multiple personal devices — PCs, laptops, smartphones, and tablets — into our personal and work-related activities, hackers and scammers will have increased opportunity to access our confidential data .

So while you’re enjoying the new iPad or Galaxy Note that you got over the holidays, please take precautions about the passwords you use, the websites you visit and the companies you entrust with your personal information .

Our wish for 2015, and always, is for you and your family to be healthy, safe and secure in all aspects of your life .

Beware of SolicitationsAs a rule of thumb, never provide personal information (or authorize any financial transaction, such as the transfer of funds) in response to unexpected solicitations . If you aren’t sure if the offer is legitimate, take these steps to keep your money safe:

• Call the customer service center or compliance office of the firm the caller claims to work for — using the number on the firm’s website or in a publicly available telephone directory . Do not use the number the caller provides. Verify the caller’s identity and the legitimacy of the request or offer .

• If you have an account at the firm, check caller ID (if you have it) for the firm’s name and telephone number . Be wary of an “unavailable” telephone number or one that is not readily identifiable . Keep in mind, however, that some clever scammers can falsify a phone number for caller ID purposes .

Safety First — Protect Your Personal Information

Be Cautious of Information RequestsAt no time will Phillips 66 vendors call or email you to request personal information, including your Social Security number, credit card number or other personal information . If you receive any such requests, please report them to the vendor’s customer service center or the Benefits Center .

If you’ve received a suspicious email or text, avoid opening it . If, however, you’ve already done so:

• Check out any embedded links by hovering over them with your mouse to view the related website addresses on your browser or status bar . Even if the email or text purports to be from a legitimate company, do not click on any links . Go directly to the company’s website from your browser and contact customer service to verify any requests or offers referenced in the email or text .

• If you’ve clicked on a suspicious link, immediately run your anti-virus/anti-malware software to help detect and remove any potential viruses .

You work hard for your money, so take common-sense measures to protect it . Remember, if the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

“Phishing” — scams designed to trick you into revealing personal information — is on the rise . In some cases, you may even be contacted by individuals pretending to market financial services or seminars from well-known firms like Vanguard, which administers the Phillips 66 Savings Plan .

For example, after we announced changes to our Savings Plan fund lineup, individuals fraudulently claiming to be company-appointed financial advisors reached out to several Phillips 66 employees . In addition, several employees received phishing emails that appeared to be from Vanguard . In both instances, scammers were attempting to steal employees’ private information . . . and their money .

To protect yourself, and your money, be cautious about unsolicited phone calls, texts and emails that request your personal information such as Social Security number, credit card numbers, passwords and account data .

Get More Value Out of Your WorkoutWhile getting healthier is its own reward, we’re happy to “sweeten the pot” with the Fitness Reimbursement Program . The program, administered by WageWorks, reimburses you and your dependents for 50% of the cost of a fitness membership (up to $300 in reimbursement per person per year) .

Who’s Eligible? The Fitness Reimbursement Program is available to active employees, as well as dependents (spouses/partners and children aged 13 – 26), that are enrolled in a Phillips 66 medical plan .

Step Up to SavingsParticipating in the program is easy, just follow these steps:

• Set up separate WageWorks accounts for yourself and each participating member of your family . For directions on how to set up your account, refer to the FAQ that can be found on hr.phillips66.com in the News section on the homepage .

• Once you incur eligible expenses during the year, file for reimbursement online or download a claim form from the WageWorks site . Complete it, and submit your receipts to WageWorks . Each family member must file reimbursement requests separately through his or her personal account .

2014 Claims Due by March 30, 2015If you’re planning to have 2014 costs reimbursed through the Fitness Reimbursement Program, mark your calendar that March 30, 2015 is the deadline to submit requests for reimbursement for 2014 . For details on claims filing, refer to the FAQ that can be found on hr.phillips66.com in the News section on the homepage .

Reimbursements are made monthly through Phillips 66 payroll . If your claim is approved by the first of the month, you’ll generally receive reimbursement by the end of the month . Otherwise, you’ll receive reimbursement by the end of the following month .

What’s an Eligible Expense?Covered services under the Fitness Reimbursement Program include:

• Fitness/health center, club or studio membership (YMCA, local gym)

• Initiation fees

Coordinating Short-Term Disability, FMLA and VacationWe’ve Got You Covered, So You Can Recover!Whether you’re facing a serious illness or preparing for the birth of a child, the last thing you want to worry about is your pay or job protection . Our Short-Term Disability (STD) benefit, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and vacation policies provide valuable support and peace of mind for these and other life situations that may arise .

STD and FMLA at a GlanceHere’s a breakdown of the basics:

STD FMLAFor work absences due to personal illness, injury or medical condition that is not job related .

Those services covered under STD, plus work absences to attend to personal or family matters, such as caring for a new child, dealing with your own or a family member’s serious health condition or attending to certain personal issues related to a military leave .

Provides up to 52 weeks paid leave at either 100% or 60% (ratio based on service date) .

Provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for employees who have worked at least 12 months and at least 1,250 hours .

Does not provide job protection . Provides job protection . You cannot be disciplined for your absence covered under FMLA .

Phillips 66-provided benefit . Federally mandated benefit .

Eligible as soon as you become an employee .

Must work for Phillips 66 for 12 months and at least 1,250 hours to be eligible .

STD absences must be reported using the Employee Health Report (EHR) form .

FMLA absences are approved and documented through the FMLA application form .

If you qualify for both STD and FMLA, the two benefits run concurrently to maximize your protection and allow you to focus on your and your family’s needs . And to further ease your mind, your other P66 benefits won’t be affected .

How Vacation Integrates with STD and FMLAIn certain circumstances, vacation time will be integrated when you’re on STD, FMLA or both:

STD FMLAIf you’re on a scheduled vacation when you become disabled, you must complete the scheduled vacation before qualifying for STD benefits — except if you’re admitted to a hospital on an inpatient basis as a result of the disability .

If you’re taking FMLA to care for an immediate family member, you may choose to code your time as vacation if you wish to be paid for these absences .

While it can be hard to predict what life will bring your way, we hope you can breathe easier knowing that in an extended absence we’ve got you covered .

Visit hr .phillips66 .com for details about the Short-term Disability benefit provided under the Phillips 66 Disability Plan (found under Benefits for the Unexpected) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (found under Employee Leave Policies).

Frank Nichols is a man on the run … and couldn’t be happier . A few years ago, Frank was trying to manage his elevated blood pressure mainly through prescription drugs . But when medication failed to manage his condition, Frank expressed his concern to his physician . “I’ll never forget what my doctor said, ‘Oh I can get it down with a higher dosage — if you don’t mind sitting on the couch all day half-asleep .’”

The conversation got Frank’s attention . “I could see where my health was headed if I didn’t make some changes to increase my level of activity .” As they discussed options, Frank brought up the possibility of running . “I used to run when I was younger, but hadn’t done it in a long time .”

Frank’s physician, an avid runner, agreed that running would be fine, but cautioned him to be patient, “He told me not to get greedy, and that good things would happen if I just kept at it .”

Once he started running, Frank was grateful for his doctor’s advice . “I was close to 58 then, and had a tough time getting back into shape . It was more of a challenge than I thought it would be .” He persisted, and at a friend’s suggestion, decided to enter a 5k Fourth of July Race in 2013 .

Although Frank’s performance did not meet his expectations, he was encouraged by other runners at the post-race breakfast . “Instead of being disappointed, I saw the race as another beginning to build on and improve .” Frank set his sights on running a half-marathon — which he accomplished in the fall .

Wellness SpotlightFrank Nichols — Paso Robles

Frank set a more ambitious goal for himself after he turned 59 . “I read an article in Runner’s World about someone who’d competed in seven marathons in seven months . Then I saw the Phillips 66 wellness video, which featured Bill “Spot” Metzler talking about running 60 miles on his 60th birthday . So I thought maybe I would run six more half-marathons before I turned 60 .”

Frank reached out to Metzler, who was happy to lend support . “Bill was very encouraging,” says Frank . “He said you have to train, but resting is an important part of training . Take time to let your body recover and rebuild . I figured he’d been down this road already, so I decided to follow his advice . As I went along, I kept him updated through the year on how I was doing .”

Metzler, who also competes in triathlons, advocated cross-training, so Frank began to incorporate biking and swimming into his exercise routine . The enhanced regimen paid off . Frank achieved his goal of completing six half-marathons two days before his 60th birthday . From his first half-marathon to this sixth, he managed to cut his race time by 10 minutes .

Looking back on the past year, Frank is pleased that he’s been able to reach his health and racing milestones . Now he’s looking ahead to his next step — running a full marathon . He keeps in touch with Bill, who remains an inspiration . “Bill’s comment from the Phillips 66 wellness video — ‘To set a milestone and reach it’— has become my personal mantra .”

With a new fitness goal to pursue, and a growing network of fellow runners for support, Frank is more than ready to take on his next challenge .

One in three American adults has high blood pressure . While following the guidance of your doctor and taking any prescribed medication are certainly important to treating your condition, improving daily health habits can also help lower your blood pressure and potentially decrease your need for medication .

Here are some tips to get started — as always, consult your doctor before beginning a new exercise and/or diet regimen:

• Get moving: Just 20 to 30 minutes of moderate exercise every day can help lower blood pressure . Aerobic activities, such as walking, biking and swimming, are especially helpful .

• Add some DASH to your life: The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet emphasizes eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy products and recommends minimizing your intake of saturated fats, red meat and sugar . To learn more about DASH, visit www.dashdiet.org .

• Say “no” to sodium: A high-sodium diet can elevate your blood pressure and increase your chances of stroke and heart disease . Health experts recommend that sodium intake be less than 2,300 mg per day — and even lower if you:– Are age 51 or older – Are African American – Currently have high blood pressure,

diabetes or chronic kidney disease

• Practice portion control: Stick to “normal” portions of food to benefit your blood pressure and waistline . See the Q2 2014 issue of BenefitsNews, “Medical Moment: Getting Portion Control in Hand” for more details .

• Accept no substitutes: As much as possible, steer away from processed foods (such as canned and frozen ready-to-eat foods, cheeses and luncheon meats) .

• Maintain a healthy weight: Staying at a healthy weight can help reduce blood pressure or prevent high blood pressure .

• Ban the booze: While some might enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail from time to time, drinking alcohol can actually raise your blood pressure .

Managing any health condition takes a little discipline, but by making a commitment to better health habits, you can take the first step to managing high blood pressure, as well as lower your risk for other health issues .

After the holiday season, and the wonderful holiday meals and goodies that come with it, you may not feel so jolly when you look in the mirror . Good news — the Energy Industry Challenge, sponsored by HealthyWage, is here to help! Beginning January 22, this company-to-company challenge can help you shed pounds and perhaps fatten your wallet at the same time!
