Concert Yesterday I sat in the front row and witnessed a fantastic show which included every Alma student and it was amazing to see the level of confidence in performing before an audience. I can admit to quite a few tears being shed in the front row watching those performances yesterday. I know that parents, care providers and family members can be justly proud of what they saw before them yesterday and I was certainly very proud to have been a part of the Alma School Community over the past four years. I’d like to thank the children and staff for a fantastic effort in putting such an enjoyable and entertaining performance together. It seems that each year the concert gets better and better and watching yesterday’s effort I have to wonder how are they going to top this in 2012. I have no doubt that somehow it will be topped. Bike Safety Just recently we’ve had reports made to the school about Alma school children riding their bikes on the footpath down Patton Street without much regard for the safety of pedestrians who are using the footpath. I must remind you all whether you’re riding a bike or a scooter to school that you must be aware of the safety of pedestrians and consider their right to use the footpath safely. I am seeking parent support in reminding children about the fact that there are safety rules even for bikes and they need to be responsible for following rules. Hats I’ll take this opportunity to remind children about sun safety and the need for everyone to wear their school hats to play in the sun. It’s also timely to remind children that the warm weather will be with us at the start of next term and their hats need to be in their bags at all times so that they can put them on at every break. New Principal The new Principal appointed to Alma for 2012 is Glynis Lugnan and she will be taking up her position from the beginning of 2012. In the meantime Diana Goodfellow will be the Relieving Principal for Term 4. And finally thank you for your continuing support it’s been a pleasure working with the Alma community. On behalf of ALL the Alma staff I would like to wish you good luck and all the best for the new journey that lies ahead. We will no doubt move forward without you, as schools are resilient communities and change is an everyday event but we will miss your generous spirit, warm hearted nature and “flexibility”. As we make adjustments for our new Principal we will be thinking of you out there on the coast, driving on the freeway, swerving in and out of traffic ( and not to miss kangaroos) and finding your way through those busy suburban streets……(you will definitely need to get that new GPS!!!) Farewell, enjoy reconnecting with your family and take care. You’ll be a hard act to follow!! From everyone here at Alma…..dear old Alma!
