LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

February and March are wonderful seasons to enjoy San Luis Obispo County. If you can believe it, winter is already leaving us and

spring will soon be among us.

I hope that your New Year’s Resolutions are going swimmingly and that you have been able to make time to enjoy yourselves on the Central Coast. Speaking of enjoying the Central Coast, I want to point all readers in the direction of a very special article by Laura Gurreau of Central Coast Food Tours that celebrates vacationing or staycationing on the Central Coast, specifically in Cambria (pages 6-10.) For adventure, we need not look further than our own backyard. Make the most of your surroundings by indulging yourself in a staycation.

Lastly, I want to encourage you all to keep an eye out for all activities related to the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival whose line-up is shown on www.SLOfilmfest.org. This is an event that is ‘created to entertain, educate and inspire film-goers and filmmakers’ in our community and will take place in various locations throughout the county on March 5th-9th.

As always, keep on reading and we’ll keep on writing!

Wishing you all my best,

“STAYCATION”

FOOD, WINE & DISCOVERY

We’re familiar with the word vacation, but how about “staycation?” It’s the newest trend of creating a vacation in your own geographic environs. The more I

learn about this recent trend… the more I think that there may be something to it.

This month I declined usual plans of vacation and travels for my birthday and opted for a staycation. I only had two days and nights to spare for the adventure, but I was determined to make the most of it.

CONSIDER A

CambriaMy husband, Yule, and I have lived in the area for nearly twenty-five years, so we have a good sense of our many local treasures. We put our heads together and decided to dedicate our staycation to spontaneity and self-indulgence!

Since we live inland, we decided that a seaside vacation was in order. The fact that January was Restaurant Month (i.e, 3 course menus for $30) throughout SLO county, further narrowed our seaside choices to the best ‘foodie’ towns on the coast. Yule and I own Central Coast Food Tours, so food has been a major consideration in the place that we chose to live as

well as our vacations and eateries that we frequent. And since indulgence was a big part of this trip, we stayed in our favorite place to staycation, Cambria.

attention to detail. On this visit we booked a King Jacuzzi Room that overlooked the Santa Rosa Nature Preserve. Our room not only included a huge Jacuzzi tub but also a fireplace and a wet bar.

We have stayed here three times previously and have never been disappointed. It’s our favorite place to stay for special celebrations and gives us that self-indulgent kick we need every now and again!

Some of the highlights of our trip included the stops we made during the day, places that we recommend you visit on your staycation to Cambria.

A choice hotel, this location drips indulgence with every sip of the luscious wines they serve in their wine bar. The hotel itself is gorgeous with beautifully designed rooms, a petite spa with steam rooms and rooftop Jacuzzi, while the staff is knowledgeable and friendly with keen

At San Simeon Beach, located down a secluded road that parallels the beach, stands the shared space of Hearst Ranch Wines Tasting Room and Sebastian’s Café. They are located in an old whaling shack that was used in the days when San Simeon was one of the last whaling stations to operate in California. The building is full of history and has a funky, off-kilter charm.

I bellied up to the bar and joined in the wine tasting while Yule ordered sandwiches from Sebastian’s. We met all sorts of fun people while tasting our wines and Scott, our knowledgeable tasting room attendant, made the experience all the more fun with his stories and knowledge of the wines.

Recommendations:➢2011 Three Sisters Cuvée Red, a Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre blend that recently won a Gold Medal at the Central Coast Wine Competition with a score of 95 points. This is our best buy for only $22/bottle.➢2010 “Pico Creek” Merlot. I fell hard for this wine, loving its full body, balanced structure and kick of tannins. It sells for $30/bottle.

After our wine tasting, we regrouped at the outdoor bar overlooking the ocean and enjoyed a glass of wine with our sandwiches. I hear that the kind docents at Hearst Castle direct their guests straight to Sebastian’s. It sure is a sandwich haven, oh my! I almost wish we had kept Sebastian’s a secret for locals. I hear that it’s popularity has folks lined up and sometimes waiting thirty minutes or more for one of their heavenly sandwiches!

Recommendations at Sebastian’s:➢A famous Hearst Ranch beef burger is a must! They offer several sizes, but even the smallest is huge! No skimping here.➢Anyone out there have a ‘thing’ for onion rings? Believe me, you will satisfy that craving here! They are huge, non-greasy and very flavorful.➢My pastrami sandwich was excellent. The savory peppery meat overtook the roll and spilled beyond the plate. It too, was huge…and delicious! If you have yet to discover Hearst Ranch Winery or Sebastian’s Café all I can say is – go, now!

My insider tip to avoid any crowds is to enjoy these immensely tasty finds in the off-hours. We showed up at 3:30pm on a Sunday and walked straight up to order. Even though Sebastian’s Café closes at 4pm there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your eats long after the broiler is officially closed.

Located at the bottom of Hearst Castle is San Simeon Beach. The beach is mostly a sheltered cove with a pier and hiking trails on the bluffs. Of all the beaches on the Central Coast, this one is our favorite. It’s never crowded, always clean and has plenty of places to explore on walks. An added bonus is its location, just down the road from Sebastian’s Café!

Originally we planned to have dinner in Cambria on the first night of our staycation, but after the wine tasting and sandwiches we were full. We were so taken by the natural beauty of the area that we decided to remain at the beach to walk the pier, watch the waves roll into shore and hunker down for a spectacular sunset with our newly acquired bottle of wine. Mr. Hearst named his estate “La Cuesta Encantada,” the enchanted hill, and I must say that the beach and cove below the castle are just as enchanting.

Cambria Dining:Operating a food tour business gives us great access to restaurants all over the county. And truthfully there are good eats to be found in every corner of the county. But when you start looking for places where food is a part of the culture, I would have to say that two towns come to mind: Paso Robles and Cambria.

Cambria has a bevy of very good restaurants. There are many different restaurants that I can recommend based one’s dining preferences. We were in the mood for a romantic setting with a diverse cuisine so we selected Robin’s for dinner.

Dinner was fabulous and consisted of chilled Vietnamese squid salad, beef short rib stew with roasted root vegetables and dessert of chocolate hazelnut mouse terrine with Frangelico anglaise. The Vietnamese salad was paired with a 2012 Gewurtstrminer from Moonstone Cellars and the short rib stew with 2009 Trenza Tinto from San Luis Obispo.

All of our expectations were met. We dined on delicious fare under candlelight on Robin’s heated outdoor patio. It was exactly the sort of romantic dinner (with great food) that we were looking for.

Moonstone Beach is a lovely little stretch of beach tucked off Hwy 1 and flanked by hotels. A cool little boardwalk leads from the El Colibri Hotel & Spa to Moonstone Beach. Once there, you’ll find benches and other places to relax and watch the ocean. The walking paths are largely located on the bluff overlooking the ocean.

We spent one entire day driving Highway 1 up to the southern parts of Big Sur. It was yet another day of mid-seventies temperatures and clear blue skies. We took the drive slow to really savor the beauty of the area. The ocean was magnificent as it changed hues from dark turquoise to channel blue and its vista seemed to roll off the edge of the earth.

We made several stops along our path and have many stops to recommend.

Recommended Stops on Highway 1:➢Piedras Blancas Lighthouse and the Elephant Seals: This is a stop worth taking. The lighthouse requires reservations, so read up on it ahead of time. The Elephant seals are present on a seasonal basis. They come to breed and give birth, then return to the sea. Their season runs from late November through early March.

➢Ragged Point Inn and Resort: Ragged Point Inn and Resort is a fun stop for a

Drive North on Hwy 1

Moonstone Beach

walk and lunch. It has breathtaking views of the ocean, a snack shack and a full restaurant. The rooms at the Inn offer incredible views of the Pacific. It’s isolated and a very romantic place to stay.

➢Plaskett Creek Campground and Trails: This campground offers a place to park with trails to access the best beach in Big Sur, Sand Dollar Beach. It’s a great place to get out of the car and have a picnic. Hiking trails give you access down the beach or up to the bluffs for amazing views.

Recommendations:➢We enjoyed an evening stroll on the boardwalk from the hotel to the beach, then found ourselves a good spot to sit and watched the moonrise. Or, go for the sunset and stay for the moonrise – gorgeous!

➢Two restaurants are located on Moonstone Beach Drive: Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill and the Sea Chest. Enjoy incredibly fresh seafood at the Sea Chest or sit outside at Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill and look at the ocean.

I have to say there really is something to be said about the idea of a “staycation.” Sure, many of these places are less than a forty minute drive from my home, but how often do I visit them and when was the last time I really took time to enjoy them? Being a local we know that people come from all over the world to visit where we find ourselves fortunate to live – sometimes a “staycation” can actually be the best of vacations, particularly when you live in San Luis Obispo County.

SECOND PRESS

Adding a New Flavor to the Downtown Paso Robles Restaurant Scene

Second Press Wine Bar & Eatery recently opened its doors and is the new flavor to the growing restaurant community in downtown Paso Robles creating a casual upscale venue

to the dining experience.

Owner John Clarizio and Second Press Wine Bar & Eatery are developing an eclectic menu by bringing together local farm fresh products and the vast array of Central Coast wines and craft beers composed by Sommelier Eric Connolly. Bringing Second Press Wine Bar & Eatery to a great community like Paso Robles has been a long time goal for Clarizio who teamed with Executive Chef Ryan Swarthout to develop contemporary wine cuisine for the restaurant.

“The rotating quarterly menu will feature the season’s best offerings to craft a new and fresh feel for our guests”, said Chef Ryan. Currently, the menu features a cross of entrees’ with inspired starters like Fried Brussels Sprouts with smoked goat cheese fondue, Coconut Clams with crispy pork belly and entrées such as Pan Roasted Scallops with Chorizo cornbread or a Rancho Sisquoc N.Y. Steak (Santa Maria raised) with whiskey cream sauce.

Tying into the community and its rich history, the Second Press name pays respect to former tenants Paso Robles Press newspaper and the influence of the wine industry. The prime downtown location 810 11th Street, overlooking the park, supports the goal of being a strong community partner.

Second Press Wine Bar & Eatery is now launching a “Press Pass” to increase the guest experience. The “Press Pass” will offer food and wine lovers the chance to indulge in the latest pairings and tastings from local wineries and breweries along with creations from the Second Press kitchen.

Press Pass holders will be alerted to the calendar of upcoming events and the Press Pass benefits that are available. Sign up by going to www.secondpress.biz or call 805.226.7500. Visit Second Press Wine Bar & Eatery located at 810 11th Street in downtown Paso Robles.

The Paso Robles CAB Collective (PRCC) recently announced the dates, venues and new format for its second annual CABs of Distinction event.

After the success of the inaugural CABs of Distinction event (launched last year to celebrate and promote Cabernet Sauvignon and red Bordeaux wines produced in Paso Robles, California) and the increased momentum from Paso Robles being named Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, the PRCC has geared up for even more exciting events in 2014. Set for April 22 through 26, 2014, CABs of Distinction events will take place in locations across the Paso Robles AVA with enhanced sommelier, media, trade and consumer experiences.

SOMMELIER EVENTSThe first-ever CAB Camp is a three-day, all-inclusive opportunity for 20 sommeliers and key buyers to go in-depth with the Paso Robles AVA.

Tuesday, April 22: Vineyard and winery tours of PRCC member properties, a winery-hosted lunch at Vina Robles, and a tasting and dinner at DAOU Vineyard & Winery.

Wednesday, April 23: Vineyard and winery tours, a winery-hosted lunch at Adelaida Cellars, and an En Primeur tasting at the Paso Robles Inn Ballroom with barrel tastings from the as-yet-unreleased 2013 vintage, followed by winery-hosted dinners across the Paso Robles AVA.

Thursday, April 24: A vintner panel discussion, opportunities for lunch with PRCC member wineries and a library/rare and reserve tasting will be followed by a barbecue at JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery.

CONSUMER EVENTSVarious consumer events will be available. See below for ticket information.

Friday, April 25: PRCC members will be hosting various events throughout the day. This is an open day for self-directed vineyard tours. Wineries will also be hosting winemaker dinners at wineries and in Paso Robles’ most sought-after restaurants.

Saturday, April 26: The CABs of Distinction Gala will be held at River Oaks Hot Springs in Paso Robles and will include tastings of PRCC member wines paired with artisanal cheese and Charcuterie chosen by Fromager Zina Miakinkova. Decadent catered lunches will be provided by notable Paso Robles restaurants and caterers (Robert’s Restaurant, Crush Catering and Avant-Garde Experience) and will be served in the CAB Bistro; chocolate tastings, live music, a barrel-making demonstration and glass etching will also be included. Luxury VIP tickets are available to attend an exclusive panel discussion, enjoy a multi-course gourmet lunch provided by Thomas Hill Organics and continuous access to the VIP Lounge where desserts and drinks will be available throughout the day. Premium-Reserve VIP tickets are available for entry to an Early Access tasting as well as access to the VIP Lounge throughout the day.

Steve Heimoff of Wine Enthusiast, who moderated the inaugural event had this to say about Paso Robles’ Cabernet, “No disrespect to Napa, but it never made much sense to me that one region, and one only, could excel at a particular varietal, in this case Cabernet Sauvignon…and [I] am ready to declare for Paso Robles Cabernet.” Heimoff was echoed in sentiment by Santa Barbara Independent’s Matt Kettmann, who titled a review of the inaugural event as this: “Resetting Radar on Paso Cab: New Collective Reminds Region, World of Roots, Future.”

Tickets for the CABs of Distinction event can be purchased at www.PasoRoblesCAB.com. The web site now includes member winery details and contact information, trade tools, and the PRCC blog for extended member features, harvest reports and other news.

PASO UNDERGROUND

In pure speakeasy fashion you’ve got to know where to look for Paso Underground. Whether you enter

through a charming storefront and make your way down a quiet hallway or cruise downtown to Railroad Street behind the main drag, you will find four wineries ready to share their amazing small production wines with you. I first met the winemakers of the Paso Underground at the Gargiste Festival, a wine festival that showcases the best small-lot, high-quality production wineries on the Central Coast each year in November at the beautiful Windfall Farms facility.

Paso Underground has a charming back patio area with vines covering the walls and a garden of various grape varieties like those used in the wines that they pour. Lights hang overhead and on many Friday nights live music fills the patio!

The eclectic group of wineries that reside in the tasting room make Paso Underground the perfect place to stop for wine tasting before going to dinner. With price points for every budget and flavors for every palate, visitors are always delighted and impressed.

Turtle Rock Vineyards/Westburg Cellars pours white and red blends and specializes in small-lot production of sturdy wines that are handcrafted from their estate and neighboring vineyards. Willow’s Tickled Pink Rosé is perfect for picnics or Sunday brunch and can be enjoyed with an array of delicious cheeses. This dry Grenache Rosé has notes of tart strawberry and mildly sweet watermelon rind. It is a refreshing wine with a stunning pink color – the perfect bottle of wine for the afternoon.

by Audrey Johns

A Collective Tasting Room Featuring the Wines of Four Small Production Wineries

still available. Since Soft Letters is a Mourvèdre and Grenache blend it is a full-bodied red, intense with flavors of berry, leather and tobacco. Great for those who love a bold red wine with mild tannins, this wine is the perfect pairing for a steak or lamb dish.

Aaron Wines has a motto “Go Big or Go Home” and their big bold reds certainly hold up to their creed. With a desire to break down the pretentiousness that often comes with wine tasting, Aaron Jackson ignores traditional boundaries and creates “wine on the edge.” Aaron Wines is known for Petite Sirah. They just began pouring their 2011 Petite Sirah and are also currently pouring a Pinot Gris and a red blend. Their 2011 Petite Sirah is bold and unpredictable, just like Aaron's motto. Notes of cherries and blackberries with a nicely rounded acidity and a slight hint of lavender make this a big bold Petite Sirah an enjoyable red wine as well as a special treasure for Petite Sirah lovers.

Visit Paso Underground this weekend. They are located in downtown Paso Robles on Railroad Street, next door to Villa Creek Restaurant and be contacted at (805) 237-0799.

Clos Solène specializes in French style wines that are created by the Fabre’s, a charming couple who moved from France to the Central Coast. Winemaker Guillaume Fabre and his wife Solene Fabre share a love of viticulture and French wine, evident in every bottle. They produce a limited amount of wine, concentrating on quality and not quantity. Clos Solène pours both white and red blends and have gained much acclaim for both. I instantly fell in love with their Hommage Blanc, a unique white blend of Roussanne and Viognier. The floral notes are decadent, giving this wine a luxurious appeal. It is crisp and soft on the palate, perfect for an elegant dinner party.

Edmond August Wines finds Paso Undergound to be located in the perfect speakeasy location because, as owner Ed Sauret chuckled, he is “a grandson of bootleggers.” At Edmond August Wines, Sauret and Winemaker Jacob Toft strive to make wines that are clean, fruit driven and intensely flavored. Edmond August purchases grapes from Caliza Winery in Paso Robles and produces an array of white and red blends. Edmond August often sells out of wine quickly, so while in the tasting room, I was lucky to find that Sauret had 2010 Soft Letters red blend

A TUSCAN GETAWAY

Where are you two from? How did you settle in Creston?Nick & Robin: In order to be closer to family, we relocated from Maui, Hawaii in 2001 after living there for thirteen years. We had the opportunity to visit a family member in Cayucos, which led us to explore the Central Coast. Surprisingly, it met all our criteria for relocation.

Tell me about your olive farm.Nick: Currently, we are farmers growing and producing Extra Virgin Olive Oil under the name of Casa Pau Hana Olive Farm. Previously, Robin enjoyed a thirty year career in nursing, primarily as an oncology nurse. I initially trained as a technologist in radiology and subsequently worked as an operational director for medical imaging environments.

Tell me about all of the residents of your home, including any animal companions. Nick & Robin: The home is occupied primarily by us, with

frequent visits by family members and friends. A house is not a home without animal occupants, which currently includes our dog, a couple of cats and a handful of egg-laying chickens, plus we enjoy the presence of abundant wildlife.

Tell me about your search for your home and what you were looking for.Nick & Robin: Our search was less about a home that had been built, but rather a location and community that satisfied our needs. We felt a rural environment was an opportunity to put land to good use. We believe that the Creston area is one of the best choices on the Central Coast. We did not seek a home as much as we sought the right property that would accommodate home plans that we had previously purchased. Although the plans were basic to the home itself, we felt that additions conducive to our life style could be added at any time. This included extensive landscaping and gardens, outdoor entertainment area with a wood-fired pizza oven and Bocce ball court.

How would you describe your home?Nick & Robin: The home design has a Tuscan feel that emphasizes casual living and entertaining. From the large gourmet kitchen, subterranean wine cellar, great room, sheltered courtyard with the wood-fired pizza oven – it lends itself to a warm and friendly atmosphere. We find that having a somewhat larger home (approximately 5,000-square-foot) is never too much space, since it is frequently occupied by family and friends and we uses the spaces frequently to entertain guests.

What is your favorite room or favorite aspect of your home?Nick & Robin: Although we like the aspects of a gourmet kitchen, we find that gathering in the courtyard and cooking Neapolitan pizza for our guests is a most comfortable and fun place to be. That’s when the wood-fired pizza oven comes in handy most! There is nothing more personal than breaking bread with another human being.

Would you say this is your “dream” home?Nick & Robin: The house plans were purchased from Sunset Magazine after being depicted as their “Western Dream Home” in 1997, built in Menlo Park, California. It took long periods of intense discussion for us to embrace the plan with some personal changes. We feel this is close to a perfect environment for us to live in. What enhance this home are the additions we’ve made as well as the 1,900 olive trees on the property.

What do you enjoy most about living in rural Creston?Nick & Robin: We love the fact that we live in a rural environment that offers the opportunity to know and socialize with neighbors. We also are blessed to be in close proximity to some of the best wineries, restaurants and entertainment offered anywhere, while still being able to enjoy a small community ambiance.

T he juicy health food craze green smoothies is growing popular and changing lives. In their raw or green state, fruits and

vegetables contain many nutrients. Often times, the fruits and vegetables that we consume in our daily diets come from dishes whose preparations are cooked. But when cooked, food ingredients lose about half of their total amount of vitamins and nutrients. So green smoothie recipes encourage the use of raw fruits and vegetables in your daily diet, resulting in a higher amount of nutrients consumption…all through a straw!

Start with veggies that have little to no bold flavor. Sneak them into a fruit smoothie. Good vegetables to start with are spinach or cucumber because they have mild flavors or no pronounced flavor when blended with fruits. Also, carrots are almost as sweet as fruit and make great juices

Follow the 2 to 1 ratio – two fruits to one vegetable to keep the smoothie sweet

Add water or almond milk to thin your smoothie. To keep a smoothie low in calories, do not add any flavored juices. Almond milk will boosts protein intake and metabolism!

Keep organic frozen fruit and vegetables in the freezer. When produce is immediately frozen after picking, flavor and nutrition are still retained. These are great products to have on hand for your morning smoothies!

A Few Words onFulfilling Relationshipsby Valentina Petrova

24

According to human needs based psychology, we are all after the same things. Universally, across cultures, we all strive to fulfill the same six basic human needs: safety/security, variety/novelty, significance, love/connection, growth and contribution. The only difference is the strategies we develop in order to fulfill those needs. Poor strategies for fulfilling these needs bring about poor results which can backfire and often make us feel worse off than we started out. A slight complication to the theme is that for each individual person one or two of those needs are predominant. There are developmental reasons for this, but suffice it to say that, two people with conflicting primary needs who are unaware of what drives them can easily cause each other more hardship than necessary, when in reality they could be helping and complimenting each other instead.

Fulfilling relationships are built on understanding each others’ needs and being willing to extend ourselves to the other person for more than just selfish reasons associated with the fulfillment of our own needs.

It is amazing how the world opens up when we are there for each other and how each one of us can blossom in a wonderful relationship. At the same time it is equally amazing how often times we are the ones who shut the door on happiness because we are unskillful in fulfilling our own needs and we blame it on the fault of someone else.

Consider all of the things that you think are wrong with one or more of your relationships. Where do you assign the blame? Are you accounting for your own part in them? What needs are you trying to satisfy by the way you are acting? Could you do something different? Do you understand what the other person needs? These are but a few questions you can ask yourself on your way to figuring things out. If you are interested, you can join me for a weekend seminar on Understanding and Building Fulfilling Relationships on March 22 & 23 at 1:00 – 3:15 pm. For more information on this opportunity please visit our website at www.HolisticMovementCenter.com

Wishing all of you fulfilling relationships! You can make it happen.

“No man is an island, Entire of itself, Every man is a piece of the continent, A part of the main.”-John Donne

Valentina Petrova can be reached at the Holistic Movement Center in Morro Bay at 805-909-1401 where you can take a YoMazing yoga class with her or on her personal website at www.ThisFulfillingLife.com.

The words above are by English poet, John Donne and they are words that help us examine how we fulfill relationships. We act as if we all are islands, entire of ourselves. Worse, we often act as if the entire Universe revolves around our

particular islands only. We also complain that we feel alone, isolated and frustrated with our relationships which do not go according to our preferences. We rely on medication to keep ourselves up, and beat ourselves down when we find ourselves in the same kind of relationship trouble we swore we will never repeat again.

However we manage to move through life, we know that we cannot live without other humans. From each other, we learn about each other and ourselves. We challenge, inspire, help, support and get in the way of one another all the time. In and through relationships we discover who we are, what we are all about, what we like and dislike, what to do with ourselves.

Foot Zone TherapyAn Interview with Chelsea Enger by Lauren Whipkey

What is Foot Zone Therapy?

Foot Zone Therapy is an effective method used to treat the physical, mental and emotional features of the body by focusing on trigger points located in areas of the feet. There are energy meridians running through the body, beginning and ending in our hands and feet. Deep pressure to the feet in these areas triggers stimulation to the associated areas. It is a natural way of bringing relief and healing to the body by utilizing the body’s own healing resources. It rejuvenates the body by reinforcing the electrical connections and communication of the body.

Anyone can benefit from Foot Zone Therapy. All ages and all conditions of health can enjoy improved health and vitality. It is an excellent modality for renewing your cellular system, rejuvenating energy and bringing the body into balance. It will also aid you in assessing your current state of health.

During your Foot Zone Therapy discomfort is felt in the areas that healing is needed. A basic treatment lasts 45-60 minutes. Consistent sessions over a two-month period are recommended in order to detoxify and establish the body’s restorative process. You will find that your body will tell you when it is time for another “zone.”

How does Foot Zone Therapy Work?

Zoning practitioners enhance health by encouraging the body’s electrical system to communicate more effectively. Each point creates an impulse that causes the brain to make a change in the corresponding areas. This raises life energy and renews the cells of the body.

Each cell in your body knows how to renew itself. A cell’s DNA in the physical body is connected to the etheric body, or the “memory body,” an area that holds the original blue print for the DNA of that cell, giving it the ability to reproduce perfect cells or effectively heal/renew cells. The complex signal system located in the feet connects to each organ and cell in the body. This system is a connecting link between the physical, emotional, mental and etheric bodies. Foot Zone Theory utilizes the signal system to reconnect with the etheric blueprint and balance and renew the body’s entire cellular structure.

Used proficiently it is effective in treating poor blood circulation and strengthening the lymphatic system. It can provide enormous relief for those suffering from conditions like insomnia, head aches, eczema, asthma, poor digestion, back and neck problems, hormone imbalance, PMS, fibromyalgia, post-natal depression, migraines and high blood pressure.

How is Foot Zone Therapy Different from Reflexology?Modern Reflexology and Foot Zone Therapy were both pioneered by Dr. Fitzgerald but Reflexology tends to focus on one system of the body that may need strengthening or balance. Zone Therapy treats each session with a complete systematic routine that incorporates the whole body.

I encourage my clients to avoid treating their body symptomatically and treat it rather as a complex whole. Imbalances in the body occur long before symptoms are manifested. Remember that by the time detection occurs the problem is usually well advanced. With Zone Therapy you may gain early detection of imbalances and treat them as well.

Foot Zone Therapy appointments are now available through The Spa Central Coast located at 6105 El Camino Real. Please call (805) 464-0129. For mobile appointments contact Chelsea Enger (805) 952-3155.
