    PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this project shall be areduction of CO 2 emission by applying thealternative fuels to substitute the fossil fuelconsumption in the clinker combustion in Kiln.

The alternative fuels applied are : Bio-Fuels considered as neutral CO 2 (hull of

rice, oil palm shell, sawdust, sludge paper, etc.)

Other alternative fuels (non bio-Fuels) havinglow emission of CO 2 (waste tire, waste oil)

  • 8/14/2019 Indocement Experience in the Plantation of Jatropha Curcas

    22/48

    CO2 EMISSION REDUCTION

This project shall use bio-Fuels to substitutesome of fossil fuel in the clinker combustionprocess. Since the emission of CO 2 originatedfrom such bio-fuels will be neutral, itscombustion will entirely provide a reduction of emission of CO 2.

    ACTUAL ACHIEVEMENTS:

The actual achievement has demonstrated that Indocement Operation is in linewith the Governments Energy Mix Policy stipulated in President Regulations No.5/2006 (target: 5% bio-fuel by 2025) . On the other hand, Indocement has alsocontributed in managing the industrial wastes surrounding the plant-sites without

    jeopardizing the environment.

    Development Project of Jatropha Curcas

Background Environment : Utilization of ex mining (marginal land) to be

productive land and Jatropha oil contains calories and not

edible oil Social : Community Empowerment around mining area in

order to create new employment for local community. Economy : To replace fossil fuel with renewable fuel (jatropha

    oil and jatropha cake)

Started partnership with Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) on February23 rd 2007 to research and development of jatropha curcas to beJatropha Oil, also to research type of jatropha curcas.
