2. Goal Setting Conversation Meeting
2.1. Goal Setting Conversation Meeting
The purpose of the Goal Setting Conversation Meeting is to provide employees and managers an opportunity to meet and discuss what the employees plan to accomplish in their role over the next year. Goal setting conversations is a collaborative process and is completed by both the employee and the manager.
The following identifies points for discussion during the Goal Setting Conversation meeting:
How does your role contribute to the “bigger picture”; consider the department, faculty, and/or university strategic plan and service to our students and/or partners of the university.
Review the university’s mission, vision, and values and consider how goals align.
How can you in your role contribute to the success of your department, faculty, and the university?
What do you love about your job? What are your strengths? How can you align your strengths with the goals you set this year?
Which skills would you most like to develop? What goals could be set to support this development?

2.2. Completing the Goal Setting Conversation Meeting Task in Rally2Gether
Step Steps to Execute
1 Manager receives notification to Initiate Goal Setting Conversation
Manager receives email in Outlook and schedules Goal Setting Conversation meeting with direct reports.
2 Action task in Rally2Gether by selecting the link “Complete Step 1: Goal Setting Conversation”

Step Steps to Execute
3 Rally2Gether displays the process overview and the steps to complete the task.
Follow the workflow steps to understand where you are in the process.
Review the related status, which indicates the percentage of completion.
Select the Get Started Button to begin the task.

4 Goal Setting Conversation Task is launched.
Select Add Goals to open the Create Goals form.
Repeat this process for desired amount of goals.
Clicking the Save and Exit button will save where you are in the process and exit the form.
When you have completed entering all of your goals, click Save and Continue.

5 Once the Create Goals form opens - enter the Performance goal title, metric, start and end date.
REMEMBER: Goals should be general enough to support action items and specific tasks which will help you attain your goals. Similarly, goals are not individual task to be completed.
*(OPTIONAL) Select Add Tasks or Outcomes button. Adding Tasks or Outcomes is similar to defining the action items that you will completed to attain your goals.
*(OPTIONAL) Clicking the check box Visibility - allows other users in your team to see and align goals, This could be used for a department wide goal or a team goal.
Select Save to save your updates at anytime.

6 Review the goals that have been entered into the system.
Click save and continue.

7 Add Professional Development Activity by selecting Add Action Step from the drop down.
Enter the Professional Development title, category, and due date
Click Save after you have completed each professional activity objective

8 Once the Professional Development activity has been entered, select the drop down to add an action step for completion.
Complete Action Step Title and select activity category from the drop down.
Once action step is completed, click save.

9 View the completed objective with action step, and progress.
For each professional development activity you wish to complete, click Add Objective
Once you are satisfied with the Professional Development Plan, click submit.
10 The submit button will send the workflow notification to your manager to review your Goals and Professional Development Plan.
You will now receive confirmation that Goal Setting Conversation is complete and submitted to your Manager for Review and Feedback.
Wait for manager to complete their portion of the task before it is returned to you.

11 Notification is received to action your Manager’s Goal Setting Conversation feedback
Email Notification is received in outlook.
12 From the Welcome page, select Step 1: Goal setting Conversation from your tasks.
13 Employee sign off step opens. You will notice you are now in the last step in the Goal Setting Conversation process and are 67% complete.
Select Get Started to begin.

14 Review Comments and Changes made by your manager on your goals.
Once you review all of the comments, click Next.

15 Review the professional development plan.
When you have finished reviewing comments, click Next.

16 Provide your acknowledgement of Manager’s Comments and approval by selecting the checkbox.
Once you have clicked the check box, and reviewed the comments, click Sign.
Click Submit.

17 Once you have provides your acknowledgement of Manager’s Comments and approval by pressing the sign button you will see a signature and date appear.
Once the sign button is clicked, if you go back to any previous steps, click the Redo button to resign and date the form.
Add any comments and Submit.
18 You have now completed the goal setting conversation process.
