What does it mean to believe in Jesus Christ?

If I am on a cruise ship that is sinking, I should want to get off the cruise ship and get

to safety. If the crew calls out to me and says; “The ship is sinking, get into the lifeboat

so you will be safe from drowning in the ocean.” That is good news in a bad situation.

The lifeboat can now save me from death.

Now, I can say, “I know there is a life boat, but I’m going to take my chances. I’m

going to stay on the big boat. I’m a little uncomfortable with the life boat. I heard what

the crew is telling me to do, but I want to try another way.” If I say this, it won’t be

because I know there is another way. However, I will be choosing to not accept what I

know.

Believing in the Bible is not merely accepting information. It is entrusting yourself to

the information you say you accept. In other words, there is no belief until I get in the

lifeboat. Talking means nothing. I can say, “That lifeboat looks good and I believe the

lifeboat can save me. I believe that the lifeboat is more than able. I believe that lifeboat

is a wheel in the middle of a wheel. I believe the lifeboat is so high that you can’ t get

over it, so low you can’t get under it, so wide you can get around it. I believe that the

lifeboat is the Rose of Sharon, a Bomb in Gilead, and the bright in morning star.” I

could say all this and still drown in the ocean if I get in the lifeboat.

Activated faith is when you believe Jesus Christ is your life boat and accept His

invitation to get on board.

For He and He alone can save us from our sins. May we all trust Him and Him alone.

BRYANT-HALL/SENIOR MISSIONARY

We meet the 3rd

Sunday of the month. We continue to

give birthday, wedding anniversary, get-well and

sympathy cards. We visited with one of our members

on the passing of her sister.

We pray our Women Day Service was a blessing to

you in some way and we would like to thank all those

who participated.

On June 4th

we held our 2nd

annual Food Drive for the

Christian Ministry Center. Along with the thank–you

message in the Twin City News we would like to

thank those who help contribute to another successful

food drive, the fliers, food, clothes, monetary, notice

in Twin City paper and personal ways that you gave.

Thank you for your support. We will be planning our

visits to the nursing facilities home to see the sick and

shut-In. If you know of someone we could visit,

please let us know or heard of someone that is sick.

We would love to help with whatever the need is. We

are also working on ideas and ways that we can be of

service, nothing is planned at this time.

DEACONESS MINISTRY

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only

begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should

not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16)

The Deaconess ministry is still looking to our Father

for leadership and guidance that we may do His will.

We meet on Monday after the second Sunday of each

month. We apologize for not having the Fashion

Show in May, we are looking forward to next year

and assistance.

The Deaconess celebrated in May Sis. Catherine Gary

and Sis. Helen Barr’s birthday by going out to lunch

at Ruby Tuesday. We had an enjoyable time.

We are not meeting during the summer months. We

will start back with our meetings in September. We

would like to wish you all a blessed and safe summer.

May God continue to bless each and every one. SUBMITTED BY: Deaconess Eva M. Barr

FEEDING THE HOMELESS MINISTRY

HOME MISSION

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I

was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes

and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after

me, I was in prison and you came to visit me” –

Matthew 25:35.

We continue to collect clothing and distribute them to

the homeless and needy by way of “Keepin It Real

Ministry”. During the summer months there’s a

critical need for men’s clothing, especially men short

pants. Women summer clothes can also be used. We

would be grateful for any donations. Thanks to all

who continue to donate clothing and shoes.

We are asking for your prayers for the homeless

during the hot weather. Pray that water is readily

available to prevent heat-related illness. Cases of

water can be donated at any time. The city has

recently decided that we can feed in the park, but that

our worship service every Sunday is considered to be

an “event” for which the city wants to charge a fee.

Pastor Oscar continues to passionately lobby for our

mission to share spiritual food – the Gospel of Jesus

Christ. Please pray for Pastor Oscar through this time

that he may be strengthened and encouraged, and that

A Letter from Covenant House:

Dear Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Feed

the Homeless Ministry,

Thank you for your kind gift. Through your

support, you provide kids with food, shelter,

clothing, and safety from the streets. Your help put

them through school, and help them find jobs, and

provide the support they need to live on their own.

Your love means everything to our kids. You are

their lifeline, the reason they are not on the streets

tonight.

Summer is a tough time for our kids, the streets

and our shelters are crammed with young people

who get the courage to leave abusive situations,

only to find the streets are filled with predators

looking to buy and sell them for profit. Please keep

us and them in your thoughts and prayers this

summer and thank you so much for believing with

us that all young people have a right to a safe place

to sleep and support from people who love them.

You, all your loved ones and your intentions are in

our prayers daily.

Gratefully, Kevin Ryan, President

FOREIGN MISSION

Time stand still for no man, I can’t believe it’s almost

July and soon we will be headed on yet another

mission trip. “Tropical Port Excursion – Gabon,

Africa, July 17-31, 2016. We will fly into Libreville

(the largest city, commercial center and capital of

Gabon), and drive across the country from there to

Oyem. Once we leave Libreville, living conditions

will be more primitive. Roads may or may not be

paved and much of our driving after the first day will

be on rough roads, as we show the JESUS film in

village areas. Because of rugged travel, long days of

ministry, we will be subject to foods we are

unaccustomed to.

Gabon is a republic and has freedom of religion. The

indigenous religion of Gabon is a form of African

Traditional Religion (ATR) which hold that tribal

spirits and deceased ancestors must be appeased to

gain to God and receive His blessings. Roughly 10

percent of the people practice (ATR) exclusively,

with the remainder split between Christianity

(primarily Catholicism) and Islam. Throughout the

areas of Gabon where we will be ministering, there

are many mixed elements of Christianity and ATR.

We will share the gospel openly, show the JESUS

film and speak in village churches as we work

alongside local Gabonese pastors and evangelists. As

we pray and trust God, we will play a vital part in the

long-term ministry strategy in Gabon which includes

church planting as well as numerical and qualitative

church growth.

Please keep our mission team in your prayers!

We are blessed by the LORD for the mighty growing

of the seed of His word being sown in the lives of our

youth here at FMBC. It was shown during our Youth

Day Service, “Yes! JESUS loves me!” Matt. 19:14

Ministries and Committees (continued): At VBS, we had in attendance an average of 150 – 175

daily. We could not have been successful without our

volunteers of 54. We pray our LORD’S Devine

Blessings to reign upon you and to keep you all forever

in HIS Mighty care.

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the

very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it

with the strength God provides, so that in all things God

may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the

glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. — 1 Peter

4:11 (NIV)

We are given gifts to use in God's Kingdom for two

reasons: 1) to bring glory to God, and, 2) to bless others.

Whether we serve or speak, we are to do so with these

two goals in mind, knowing that God will supply the

strength to do what he has gifted us to do.

Again, thanks to all volunteers, those behind the scenes

and the ones up close and personal. It would not have

worked without you and the divine anointing of the HOLY SPIRT upon you. BLESS YOU!

Please come and join us in this Ministry. The door to

Bro. Henry “Jap” Jackson

When I think of the word man I think of my dad Henry Jackson. One possessing in a high degree the distinctive qualities of manhood, one having many excellences Although he wasn't educated he seen capable of completing any task. Henry was a man's man, the kind of man you didn't bother. He hunted and performed repairs on cars and others electrical. His nickname was “Jap”, because in his youngest days he would fight. Henry was a character whenever one of us would get angry he would tell us if you think you can whip me you better fight slow and let me win. He put his all in everything he did including serving the Lord. If you would walk into to church he would be praying and you know you was going to be waiting awhile. He prayed the same way at home. he wasn't perfect. By any means but he did the best

he could with what he had. He taught us how to love each other, how to face fears and conquer them, don’t let me forget he was a dresser and loved singing. Henry loved

quartet also. Only what we do For Christ will last. We love and miss Henry E. Jackson.

12 Processed Foods You Should Be Eating

Add These Processed Foods to Your Cart

With that in mind, here are some of the “best of the

best” packaged foods that can help add variety to your

diet and make cooking fresh meals more manageable.

Chances are you don’t even think of many of these

foods as being processed

1. Canned Beans Fully-cooked canned beans are a

convenient, ready-to-eat protein, and they’re often the

gateway ingredient to making more meatless meals.

Combine them with brown rice or quinoa and veggies

for a hearty entrée, or add to a salad in place of

chicken.

2. Frozen Vegetables and Fruits If it hasn’t been

drilled into your head yet, frozen produce is just as

nutritious as fresh, and there’s less waste since you

can use only what you need and hold onto the rest for

another meal. I use up my fresh vegetables early in the

week and keep a stash of frozen blends on hand for

later in the week, when the produce drawer is bare.

3. Whole-Grain Pasta This is a terrific weeknight

dinner staple, since it takes less than 20 minutes to

prep from start to finish. While your noodles are

cooking, sauté some sliced chicken and veggies in

olive oil, and toss everything together just before

serving. If you find whole wheat too grainy, try brown

rice or quinoa varieties.

4. Nut Butters and Packaged Nuts If you keep a jar

of peanut butter and a loaf of whole-grain bread

stocked in the house, you always have a simple meal

at your disposal. While seasoned nut blends may have

more sugar or salt than plain varieties, they’re still a

huge improvement over empty carbs like chips and

cookies.

5. Yogurt If you prefer the convenience or flavor of

premixed fruit yogurts to plain yogurt, just be sure to

check the sugar content before you buy. Look for

varieties that list fruit ahead of sweeteners on the

ingredients list and ideally contain less than 18 grams

of sugar per serving (that’s about 2 to 2.5 teaspoons of

added sugar in addition to the naturally occurring

lactose in yogurt, and fructose in fruit).

6. Bagged Popcorn Popcorn is a whole grain, and

most bagged brands contain just three ingredients:

popcorn, oil, and salt. When you’re craving something

snacky, it’s a great alternative to chips and pretzels.

7. Hummus If you’re not inclined to make your own

hummus, pick up a tub of this heart-healthy spread for

dunking vegetables at snack time and layering on

sandwiches at lunch.

8. Individually-Portioned Cheese String cheese,

snack-size squares, and mini rounds are perfectly

portioned for those who have a hard time sticking to

just a few slices.

9. Canned and Frozen Fish Canned Alaskan salmon

is about one-fourth the cost of fresh wild salmon and

is shelf-stable, so you don’t have to worry about

buying it the same day you plan to cook it. Frozen,

individually-wrapped filets are another hassle-free

option if you’re looking to eat more fish.

10. Jarred Marinara Sauce and Salsa There are

plenty of great marinara brands with minimal

ingredients on store shelves, so why not save some

time where you can? The same goes for salsa. Keep a

jar on hand and you can transform staples like

chicken, beans, tortillas, and brown rice into easy,

well-loved meals like tacos and burrito bowls.

11. Whole-Grain Breads and Crackers Bread is a

grocery list staple for a reason: Toast is the perfect

breakfast solution when you’re short on time — just

top with nut butter, avocado, sliced egg, or ricotta for

a simple meal you can eat on your way out the door.

Hearty, fiber-rich crackers make a satisfying snack

when paired with cheese or hummus.

12. Naturally Flavored (Unsweetened) Seltzers and

Waters These are great options if you’re trying to

avoid sugary or diet drinks but get bored with plain

water. Their fruity flavor keeps your taste buds

engaged without relying on real or artificial

sweeteners.
