Streetwear is an interesting creative medium of self-expression. It allows one who may not be that vocal to create their own voice shown in their choice of wear. From the top of their snap-backs to the soles of their chucks, anyone with enough passion and belief in what they wear can show themselves strong with their own original flair and spin on new mediums of clothing.

I am Dennis McMurray, the Editor In Chief of Imperio Street Magazine and I’d like to say thank you for picking up our first issue! Though this issue is just a little sampler of what’s to come, I do take much pride and enjoyment in releasing this to you in hopes that we gain your attention as well as your following as we share ideas back in forth on fashion culture, musical tastes and interesting lifestyles.

Within this issue we get to explore some current fashion looks and trends as well as check out some interesting styles for multiple occasions. We also delve into which celebrities impact our “Soles” and reasons why we should give up all spring break workout routines at this point in “It’s too Late”.

We look forward to showing you a little of what we have in store for our big summer issue and can’t wait to embark on this epic journey with you.

That being said, leggo.

What started out to most as a bad joke has turned into a movement with a dedicated following as Yeezy him-self has embarked on a quest with Adidas to change the face of footwear forever. After first having a shoe line with Nike back in 2009 with the notable “Air Yeezy” and “Air Yeezy II” in 2012, as well as other collabs with the like of BAPE and Louis Vuitton, Kanye set out to create something new with Adidas back in February 2015. After a dispute with Nike on the royalties of product sales, Kanye switched teams to Adidas for a larger offer based on product sales (followed by various attacks on the Nike in the form of tenacious tweets and and Kanye has made it no secret that he and Nike have beef as witnessed in TLOP single FACTS where Kanye makes claims to Niketreating their employees like slaves (as if other companies don’t.)

Needless to say, the Yeezy Boost 750 was kind of a lot to take in. For some, an artistic marvel and to others a glorified sock with a strap, loopy laces and a tubular sole, the Yeezy 750 took the world by storm selling out at a high $350 per pair. Akin to in his fashion releases overall for Yeezy Season 1, Kanye definitely proves that he has unique tastes that consumers will always try to eat no matter the strange appearance. Later coming out with the Yeezy Boost 950 (A stylistic duckboot change up from Yeezy Season 2) we’ve surprisingly gotten a really neat outcome with Season 3 shoe models Yeezy Boost 1050 and the Yeezy Boost 350.

What once was a shoe that was really over the top in style choices (that may or may not have been genius as Kanye would describe it) actually comes out really clean in his Season 3 launch where Kanye also released the first tracks to his new album TLOP: The Life of Pablo. Even his clothing has dawned a lot more color and pattern than we’re used to and we can safely say that maybe Kanye is on to something with this whole fashion thing. Now the 53 million in person debt…that’s another story.

It’s no surprise to anyone nowadays that it’s become somewhat of a trend to give celebrities their own show. More commonly seen in sports, we’ve witnessed legends sign on to legendary labels and some….not so great labels. Interesting enough however, sports stars are no longer the only ones leaving their footprint in the shoe market. In fact, many celebrities have been stepping out of the studio and into interested brands in order to become the new trendsetters in streetwear.

Known to most as THE funny guy of our time with his hilarious stand-up and multiple comedy movies such as The Wedding Ringer, Ride Along & Ride Along 2, Kevin Hart has proven that when it comes to his gym routine, fitness is no laughing matter. With multiple posts of Kevin getting it in whilst in the gym, we’ve seen him step his game up to a very serious athletic level and we’re not the only ones who took notice either.

Nike was quick to sign Kevin to the Swoosh Squad (not really a thing btw) and we’ve even gotten a first look at his new signature shoe “ Nike Hustle Hart” on his appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. The shoe is set to launch this coming April and we couldn’t be more excited with its look. Kevin claims that this isn’t a shoe made just for fashion or to be pretty but to do actual work. He wanted to have a shoe that he could actually utilize in the gym and that could keep up with his workout regime. With April fast approaching I’m sure we’ll all get to decide that for ourselves. Let’s hope no one laughs at our pain.

Popular Barbadian singer/songwriter Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty has been a massive influence in the fashion world for a while now due to her edgy looks, interesting tastes in dress and overall amazing figure. So what else was there to do but give her a shoe collection as edgy and bold as she is! Puma latched on as fast as they could and gave us “The Creeper” and “The Trainer”, both which have long ago sold out (as Puma loves to showcase on their web page slideshow. )

The world has clearly opened their arms wide and their pockets wider to embrace the new Puma joints that has every hype beast and fan alike raving. Though not as much of a fan of The Creeper with it’s super thick Reeses sole, I am 100% smitten with the tight angular design of “The Trainer” and semi-hate Puma for still showcasing them on the site even though they’re sold out. Thanks for that btw.

Puma has also had much success with fashion icons such as Solange Knowles and her collections and have now set their sights on social sensation Kylie Jenner. Not a fan of Puma, or really any other shoe line than Adidas now apparently, Kanye has tried his best to keep those Puma paws off of Kylie Jenner but in the end Kylie gets what Kylie wants and she has agreed to be a spokesperson for Puma. Sorry Yeezy.

Known for his loving heart towards all the women of the world, various court-side appearances and his re-lentless lyrical assalt on rapper Meek Mills, Drake has also been blessed with a shoe of his own highlighting his record label “October’s Very Own”. With the white colorway debuing back in September 2015, the all black colorway version released February 2015 for a hefty price-tag of $225.

A lot of the designs for the shoe reflect and match up well with many of the clothing articles in Drake’s OVO clothing line pieces. The look is simple and clean with a wave like design that flows just as well as Drake himself. If you’re caught with these fresh Js on your feet and your Hotline happens to Bling, you can be sure that it can only mean one thing…

EVER SINCE THEY GAVE DRAKE HIS OWN SHOOEEE!!!! (Sorry couldn’t resist.)

We get it. Your New Year’s Resolution was to be fit and Spring Break ready and we totally respect that (even though we know most New Years Resolutions are doomed from immediate cvbonception). But now with Spring Break around the corner you may have come to the shocking realization that you have yet to lift one barbell or even one foot into the gym, which has not amped you into “Spring Break Body Denial”.

Spring Break Body Denial, also fictionally know as SBBD, is an absurd latent outbreak leading to symptoms of sudden eating right, extreme workout routines and a massive amount of social media uploads to prove to the world and yourself that you’re gonna get those spring break abs you deserve! But we’re here to tell you (out of love) that that’s not gonna happen. You’re simply too late and that’s okay!

You didn’t work out when it counted and you’re not gonna change much in a week or two but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t quit working out all together; just work out for the summer!

For fellow fitness enthusiasts, I’m sure you’ve all noticed the sudden influx of baby gym rats plaguing your favorite bench press or misplacing your 40lb barbell (seriously, when you’re done just put it back!) and this is because you’ve been swarmed by the SBBD zombie apocalypse, but rest assured this won’t last long. After about 2 to 3 days SBBD victims begin to understand that it is indeed too late to make that sudden spring break body change and will start to leave your precious gym in droves. And to those who have given up hope entirely we charge you to stay in the gym, but not for some silly 1 week spring break body that literally no one has achieved before (seriously why does this keep happening?) but because you want better for yourself!

If you really want to earn that body, here are a few tips to really get you started on the right path.

1. Stay in the gymConsistency is key and if you can at least start a routine of showing up you’ve won half the battle! Even if you stay at home, there are plenty of at home workouts that really do show results such as Daily Burn or various workout streams via web that you can utilize whether you have equipment at home or just your body alone. (That totally rhymes!)

2. Eat Right Losing weight or gaining mass is legit a battle fought 20% in the gym and 80% in the kitchen. You literally get out what you put in and if you’re not putting in the right building blocks when you dine you’re wasting your time (put that one on shirt). If you’re trying to eat right but keep buying random foods day by day try meal prepping instead and calorie counting. There are calculators on the Internet to help you figure out how much you should be eating and even calculators for those trying to gain too. ALWAYS EAT! You will not lose weight by starving yourself, you’ll only retain it. If you’re trying to gain weight eat a lot! But eat a lot of the RIGHT things and at the right time. Have a hardy breakfast, protein/carb filled snacks and right after you work out try a protein shake (it goes through your body faster than eating a protein bar after your workout). There are a lot of rules for nutrition and I’m not an expert myself (we’ll find one for the summer issue), but if you want to know more about how to get war ready in the kitchen check some online sources.

3. Use the buddy system! Nothing helps more than having a good ole accountability partner! Having someone who has the same goal as you can be really helpful in your battle against your body but you both have to be serious about your mission lest you both fall into the abyss. It also helps having a support group so you can see other people where you are progress together. We all start somewhere and honestly that photo of Dolvett Quince and Jen Widerstrom in your gym locker is only gonna encourage you so much.

4. Set attainable goals This is NOT The Biggest Loser. You’re not gonna lose or gain crazy weight in one week alone so don’t even try it. Set attainable weight goals to keep yourself going. Focus on staying in the gym more and less on what you weigh every 5 mins; you’ll just end up burning out. Also, don’t fall for these crazy fad diets that “melt off weight” or “helps massive gains”. The key to a fit body is pure consistency not a happy pill. Get a routine going, eat what you’re supposed to, drink a lot of water and really hit it hard in the gym!

We hope this gives you enough of a kickstart to really get into the motion of body devotion! Remember to never give up. Every day that you come back proves you’re stronger than before.
