A COUPLE SECRETS ABOUT NETWORKING
by Greg Bennett
Sales Strategist
You love to network, don’t
you? What? Not so much? You’d
rather sit behind your computer
staring at a lead list that you have
called 15 times already?
Some of us truly love to network,
others of us don’t mind it and
then still more of us really abhor
even at the thought of it. But net-
working is important for most, if
not all of us.
Over the years, I’ve found two
simple tricks that help me get
psyched for networking, in-
creased my confidence throughout
the process, and made my net-
working efforts more productive.
1) Always meet the next person.
2) Be authentic.
Always meet the next person. In
most business networking events,

in fact, in most life settings, there’s
always another person you don’t
know. So meet them. Who knows
what will happen? They may be - or
know - someone who really needs
your help. They may be someone
who can offer help to you - or
someone you know. They may be
someone who can offer great new
insight into your business. But
you'll never know any of this unless
you meet them. Be confident, take
the first step, extend your hand,
and meet them.
Be authentic. We’ve all been the
victims of “those people,” right?
Those people who attend a net-
working event simply to shove their
card into the hands of everyone
they see. They have no desire to
know – or to even meet – you. Don’t
be them. Take the time to get to
know you are talking to, what they
do and determine whether you
should meet again. Actively listen
and engage, but don’t feel you have
to spend the entire networking
event with them. After all, you’re
there to meet a lot of people, right?
So after a few minutes of chatting,
simply say something like, “It was
great to talk with you. There are a
lot of people I’d like to meet, but I
appreciate the time we’ve spent
together.” That’s being authentic.
The next time you’re gearing up for
a networking event, try these two
tricks and see if they help you.

THE SWAMP OLYMPIC GAMES
Matt Sanchez, General Manager of IMG
Learfield at The University of Florida, cre-
ated a competitive challenge for his Account
Executives with a theme that mimicked the
2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Competitors
were awarded one point for every ticket, dol-
lar and call they made. Michelle Wagner
won the overall Gold medal earning a total of
13,137.61 points. Wagner earned points
through utilizing basketball group assets
and a steady flow of football season tickets.
Following closely behind was Mike McCar-
ney who took home the Gold Medal in foot-
ball and baseball sales. He was able to se-
cure the most football season tickets paid in
full. Mike earned 11,370.22 points. Con-
gratulations to the Gold medal winners!

Do you have what it takes to outlast, outwork and out-sell the
person next to you? How about your colleagues from across
the country?
Now is your chance to prove you are the #1 seller with our In-
augural Sales Madness! Prizes will be awarded throughout
the contest for both Rookies and Veterans, with a final show-
down: the ‘Rookie Champion’ versus the ‘Veteran Champion’.
Contest Rules:
Contest runs from March 17-April 18
There will be two brackets: Rookies and Veterans
GMs and RMs will set goals for April 7 – April 11
March 17-April 4 will be based off of KORE goals
Sellers who advance to Veteran Quarterfinals or Rookie
Finals must submit daily sales numbers (will work with
GM). If sales numbers are not submitted daily, seller is
disqualified.
Management reserves the right to disqualify any seller for
falsifying sales results.
Any promotion during the contest (ie. Sr. AE to GM) dis-
qualifies the seller.
“% to new revenue as a whole number” converts to a deci-
mal percentage. For example: 79.60% to goal is 79.60
points.

NATIONAL ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE RANKINGS
January 1st—March 14th
An Atlanta, GA native and graduate
of Kennesaw State, Michelle Wag-
ner is a dynamic Account Executive
at the University of Florida for IMG
Learfield.
With a start date in September
2013, Michelle quickly made a in
impact to ticket sales and develop-
ing key relationships amongst Flor-
ida supporters. She sold more
Men’s Basketball group tickets
than any other IMG Learfield Ac-
count Executive during the 2013-14
season (2,733).
Michelle has coordinated several
major theme nights including Foot-
ball Spirit Day, Football Home-
school Day, a Basketball Speaker
Series and Multiple Elementary
School Days.
AJ Arem, Regional Manager of the
Southeast, says “Michelle demon-
strated cross-selling at the highest
level this season. She was instru-
mental in cultivating leads from
various theme days and converting
them into season sales using MVP
best practices on every call.”
Matt Sanchez, General Manager of
Florida, speaks highly of Michelle
by saying “Michelle has been the
most resourceful Account Execu-
tive on the staff and continues to
proactively find new sources of
revenue. She is a master in rela-
tionship building who creates an
open line of communication with
her clients. It will be exciting to
see how the 2014 Football Group
Sales campaign plays out. There’s
no reason why Michelle’s trend
can’t continue.”
As an avid Braves fan, Michelle
can’t wait until “Choptober!”

Brendan Jones worked with a local company over the last year and originally sold them 100
tickets to a football game for $4,000. He developed a good relationship with the decision-
maker, and they have since purchased 50 two game mini-plans and 150 additional group tick-
ets, all for employee appreciation. This brought them to a total of $9,750.00.
