The Carnic Alps and the Lienz Dolomites are the

natural boundaries of the valley, guaranteeing a

pleasant, mild climate. Its position, facing south,

ensures fresh sunny summers, thus offering the ideal

conditions for fully enjoying the ever-changing richness

of the Alpine universe: in spring, with the reawakening

of nature, in summer, when the mountain pastures are

a carpet of flowers, or in the golden sunlight of autumn.

It’s the farmers’ work that maintains this unique culti-

vated landscape. The habitants’ way of life is characte-

Lesachtal valley is a valley of pleasures: the traditional

cooking with its delicacies and specialties with home-

made farm products is quite diversified. Lamb, meat

and bread from Lesachtal valley are the basic products

of highest quality for a “Morende” – the typical snack in

Lesachtal valley.

Die Gail und ihre Seitenbäche geben dem Lesachtal

die typische, einmalige Land schaftsform. 72 von

Wildbächen ins Gestein gefressene Gräben gliedern

das Tal so interessant auf. Wurde die Kraft des

Wassers vor Jahrzehnten hauptsächlich zum Antrieb

von Mühlen genützt, so dient es heute in erster Linie

der Gesundheit und dem Erlebnis.

The Gail and its tributaries give the Lesachtal an

appearance that is typical and unique at the same

time. More than 72 streams and torrents run in

gorges hollowed out of the rock, dividing the valley

into an unusual chessboard. Just as the force of

water was principally used in the past for turning

the millwheels, today it is mainly used for therapeutic

and leisure purposes.

La Gail con i suoi affluenti conferisce alla Lesachtal

un aspetto tipico ed unico allo stesso tempo. Più di

72 ruscelli e torrenti, che scorrono in gole scavate

nella roccia, dividono la valle in una singolare

scacchiera. Così come, nei secoli passati, la forza

dell'acqua veniva utilizzata, principalmente, per far

girare le ruote dei mulini, oggi essa viene impiegata,
