Abstract
As technology advance piracy issues have become a major concern in the world of music. Technological advancements have provided new and faster methods of obtaining music illegally. While many are unaware that this is a crime, engaging in such activity has an economic impact on the US Economy as well as a direct effect on the artist, the industry, and the consumer. Overall, the economy in the United States will see changes in revenue and the job market. This research will address the origin of music piracy, the legal consequences the technological advancements that have occurred over time and also provide examples of how piracy has an impact society.
