ABOUT INDO - UK HIPECMEET 2014The Indo-British Health Initiative (IBHI) is organising the Indo-UK HIPEC Meet, the most latest and advanced technique in the speciality in Chennai on 21st & 22nd November, 2014.

Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy treatment that is delivered directly to the abdomen during surgery. The procedure also improves drug absorption and effect with minimal exposure to the rest of the body. In this way, the normal side effects of chemotherapy can be avoided. HIPEC is a treatment option for people who have advanced surface spread of cancer within the abdomen, without disease involvement outside of the abdomen.

BACKGROUNDThe Indo British Health Initiative aims to promote scientific collaboration between Health Care Personnel in the United Kingdom and India. It also seeks to facilitate more UK higher education partnerships and business opportunities for UK commercial firms in the healthcare sector in India.

The IBHI foundation was mainly formed to facilitate and channelize these initiatives.

RECENT EVENTSThe IBHI held events focusing on Orthopaedics (Jan, 2012) and Gastroenterology (April, 2012), followed by a hugely successful Indo-UK Diabetes Summit, the largest ever bilateral healthcare event the UK has ever hosted with India in January 2013 and one of its kind oncology summit in Sep, 2013. This event was attended by leading faculty from both countries, two large UK trade delegations, comprising healthcare universities and private sector companies and about 600 delegates from all parts of India and UK.

With the extensive knowledge & expertise at the disposal of our two countries, there has neverbeen a better time to bring together leading oncology experts to focus on three main themes: • Stage a series of scientific and technical presentations by Indian and British experts on the latest treatments, protocols, technological developments and innovations.

• Identify opportunities for enhanced partnerships in oncology education & training, including in curriculum development, specialist nursing and allied health.

• Promote the products and services of UK commercial providers by giving them access to a wide range of clinicians, hospital promoters and decision-makers.
