About Indo-UK Oncology Summit 2017The Indo British Health Initiative (IBHI) will organise the biggest ever Indo-UK Oncology Summit in Chennai on 15th & 16th December 2017.

The conference which is a combined initiative between the Indo British Health Initiative (IBHI) and the ChristieOncology Hospital Manchester is due to hold this international event on the 15th and 16th of December 2017.The focus of this conference is on recent advances in oncology with emphasis on the different subspecialties thatencompass it. India is facing an increasing incidence of cancer and the partnership with the Christie Hospital willenable transfer of new techniques along with educational opportunities for aspiring oncologists.

The conference will have sessions that will highlight the advances in organ based treatment along with a live operatingsession. Experts from the length and breadth of the country along with international experts will be delivering lecturesand conducting workshops.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience the entire spectrum of cancer care delivery. Postgraduates willhave a student session that will give them an experience of how education in oncology is conducted in the UnitedKingdom. There will be an opportunity to showcase their individual talent during the Young Innovator Session with acash prize for the winner along with a team contest in the form of an Oncology Quiz.

The Indo British Health Initiative aims to promote scientific collaboration between healthcare personnel in the UnitedKingdom and India. It also seeks to facilitate more UK higher education partnerships and business opportunities for UKcommercial firms in the healthcare sector in India. The IBHI foundation was mainly formed to facilitate and channelisethese initiatives.

IBHI was established in December, 2011 byDr. Prithvi Mohandas, Founder and Secretary – IBHI

• 2014: Indo-UK HIPEC Meet (November 21st & 22nd , 2014, Chennai). This event witnessed around 400 doctors, delegates, nurses and postgraduates from across the nation, who actively participated in the conference on cutting–edge treatment, HIPEC ((Hyperthermic Intraoperative Peritoneal Chemotherapy) for advanced & complex abdominal cancers.

• 2013: Indo-UK Oncology Summit (September 6th & 7th, 2013, Chennai). This summit focused specifically on oncology (with an emphasis on some specific organs). This event also provided a platform to enable strong and sustainable UK-India partnerships, with the IBHI and the UK Government playing a leading facilitation role.

• 2013: Indo-UK Diabetes Summit (January 18th & 19th, 2013, Chennai). The event attracted leading experts from across all verticals of the diabetes domain and served as a platform for the participants to discuss long-term solutions for diabetes based issues and concerns. This event was attended by leading faculty from both India and UK, two large UK trade delegations, comprising healthcare universities and private sector companies and about 600 delegates from across India.

• 2012: GIBHICON (April 21st & 22nd, 2012, Chennai). GIBHICON showcased the best of talent in the UK and India in the fields of Gastroenterology, GI surgery, GI endoscopy, Hepatology, Liver Transplantation and Bariatric surgery. Luminaries in these fields from both countries were present for this two day conference.

• 2012: Orthopaedics (January 14th & 15th, 2012, Chennai). Seminar Focussing on Upper and Lower Limb Joint Replacements

Collaboration between IBHI & Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh The IBHI in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has been instrumental in establishing a preparatory course for the FRCS International Examination in General Surgery at MIOT Hospitals, Chennai. The course which is conducted by teaching faculty from the United Kingdom and India is held over three days and helps candidates to prepare for the viva and clinical part of the FRCS International examination. The course has been conducted for the past two years and candidates from countries in the Middle East and across Asia have participated in the course and several candidates have successfully passed the FRCS International examination.
