Despite the pandemic plaguing the world and affecting normal life, IHM - Hyderabad has left
no stone unturned to ensure curricular & co-curricular activities are carried on with the same gusto
and tempo. We hope the world gets back on track at the earliest so that the hospitality professionals
groomed at our institute find ample job opportunities and come out with flying colours.
Hearty Congratulations to the literary committee for releasing the e-version of the college
magazine “Cackle 2020” on the occasion of World Tourism Day, followed by the regular
magazine. In our institution facilitators play a vital role in creating and developing a strong value
based culture and are the force behind transforming our students into enriched beings.

OVID-19 Pandemic has brought the globe to a grinding
Chalt. However, with the passage of time, economies of
the world have been limping back to the ‘New Normal’.
The tourism industry has taken an unprecedented beating and
has been pinning on the hope that “This too shall pass.”
This outbreak has brought us closer to nature and to coincide
with this concept, UNWTO has aptly proposed the theme “Tourism &
Rural Development”. Rural tourism showcases rural life, culture,
ethnicity and heritage of rural locations, enabling interactions
between tourists and locals for an enriching experience of “Going
local while being Global”.
Rural tourism will also give impetus to an Atmanirbhar Bharat
ensuring an efficient, competitive, resilient, self-sustaining and self-
generating Bharat as envisioned by our Hon’ble Prime Minister.
Tourism and hospitality have been leading employment
generators. Despite the setback due to the current scenario, we shall
emerge victorious.
Wishing all the Hospitality Professionals a quick recovery from
the pall of gloom staring at us.

A 5-days’ workshop (24 June to 28 June 2019) on personality development was conducted by Mahindra Pride Group, exclusively for final year students. Various essential skills like teamwork, leadership and pressure handling were inculcated to make them industry-ready. Role-plays, group discussions and extempore were also a part of this interesting workshop. Few of the students were also awarded for their efforts and recognized for their oratorial skills.

organised by ISHA Foundation, students of
IHM Hyderabad formed a Human Chain from th

September 2019. It was to spread the message

ONAM LUNCH
IHM Hyderabad organised an Onasadya on ththe eve of Onam held on 11 September 2019,
when the ITC Group of Hotels visited the
institute for their recruitment drive. The
recruiters also witnessed Thiruvathirakali,
the traditional dance form of Kerala.
SWACHHATA PAKHWADA
Swachhata Pakhwada, a Government of India initiative started in the year 2016 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on Swachhata drive. In collaboration with the Rotaract Club, faculty and students of IHM Hyderabad undertook cleaning activities in the campus of Osmania
thUniversity on 6 September 2019. The students promoted the use of paper bags and also emphasized on the ill- effects of single-use plastics.
JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN (JSA)
Inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s impetus on Jal Sanchay, the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) is a time-bound, mission-mode water conservation campaign. Faculty and students of IHM Hyderabad organised an event at Osmania University to educate people about the conservation of water bodies.

by performing a Nukaad Natak for the residents of D. D. Colony. The movie “Gandhi, My Father”

BATHUKAMMA CELEBRATIONSthOn 4 October, the faculty and students of the
Institute celebrated Bathukamma, a colourful and vibrant festival of Telangana, celebrated by women, with flowers that grow exclusively in each region. Bathukamma is a beautiful flower stack, arranged with unique seasonal flowers, most of them with medicinal value, in a minimum of seven concentric layers.

Master Star Chef, Sarah Todd visited Novotel HICC, Hyderabad to share her culinary experience with various chefs of the city on

No service is bigger than the service to mankind “Manavaseva Madhavaseva”. The Rotaract Club of IHM Hyderabad took part in the Sanskriti event, where Rotaract teams from all over Telangana participated in
thvarious cultural activities on 20 October 2019. IHM – Hyderabad won the prestigious Best Rotaract Team Award.

PUNJABI FOOD FESTIVAL
IHM Hyderabad in collaboration with IHM
Gurdaspur organised a Punjabi Food Festival
on 31st October 2019 and presented culinary
secrets from the heartlands of Punjab under
the Ek-Bharat-Shreshta-Bharat program.
Students of IHM – Hyderabad were dressed
in Punjabi attire and performed the folk
dances of Punjab. On similar lines, IHM
Gurdaspur showcased Andhra and Telangana
cuisine and culture. These events coincided
with recruitment drive of the Oberoi group of
Hotels.

Gillette, the renowned American brand of
safety razors and personal care products,
conducted a seminar on 1st November to
educate the students about the importance of
grooming and the standards to be maintained
in the industry. They also provided free

An annual gala dinner hosted by IHM Hyderabad during the Christmas season was attended by
several General Managers, Heads of Department and Learning & Development Managers of the thcity attended the event. on 18 December. The lavish buffet included a spread of Lobster Bisque,
Poached pear salad with walnuts, Lamb Shanks in mint infused gravy, Chicken Roulade with
Arugula, traditional roast turkey & roast chicken with giblet gravy and cranberry jelly. Christmas
