I visited with Dr. Michael Pugh, of Westwood Geneticsabout flushing our best seven or eight virgin heifers

last spring. Well, as you will see for yourself, the results were more than worthwhile. Lot 1 is plain

and simple, my kind of cattle. Big legged, hugeribbed, good hipped and really good in her neck and shoulder. I really don’t think you can build one any better in terms of foot and leg structure. As an added bonus, we sold her full brother

to Gray Show Cattle for $7,000.

Some one said Matt Lautner had a challenge or bet that Monopoly calveswould out sell all other sire groups this fall. I don’t know the outcome of

the bet, but I would sure think that Lot 1 & 2 here at my place would makeit tough on the competition! This is a really good show heifer folks. She willbe more than capable of holding her own in any race she runs next year. I know I might be a little different than most breeders, but I’m really

excited about making cows out of my Monopoly heifers.

Here they are, the first females out of the famous PANDA cow. I promisethese Angus sired sisters are thebreath of fresh air that the industryhas been waiting for. I know this heiferisn’t perfect, but when you start toanalyze her, the positives far outweighthe negatives.

One thing about the AfterShocks this year, they allseem to be flatter in theirshoulder and longernecked. That just makes itthat much better for raisingclub calves.

Lot 11 This will be one of twoexcuses I make regardingthe pictures! This bred isincredibly stout yet easy onthe eyes. Make sure tostudy this one Sundaymorning.

Lot 12 This might be the best oneof the bunch when theyreach maturity. So good inher lines, and really goodhair for an After Shock. These are really big bonedheifers with a huge footunder them.

Welcomeost of you, if you are like me, did not even notice that I skipped all the boring stuff at the beginning of the

catalog. It’s not that I skipped it, I just thought the cattle tookprecedence. I’m very proud of this group of females and the 2 bulls we are selling Nov. 21st.

As you might have noticed, 11 of the 12 calves selling are offspring out of our top breds from a year ago. I knew thesegenetics would work and I just wanted to show you, my cus-tomers, what these cattle were capable of producing.

With that being said, I’m proud to say we flushed 26 virgin heifers this year. That’s right, 26 head and we transfered or froze 242 embryos this summer.

These females were mated to the following bull battery:Heat Wave, Monopoly, Walks Alone, Walks on Water, Meyer734, Bates and One & Only! I honestly believe that if you aretrying to raise the elite type of composite cattle, like many ofyou are, this is a sale you simply can not afford to miss.

Thanks to all my customers, whether from the auctions or privately, without you I have nothing. We look forward to seeing you the 21st!

Lot 85HUSTON 101SIRE: Bates (Double Vision x Earp #40)DAM: Cunia x Earp #38

For those of you who never saw the bull we raised in 2000, that we called Bates, myapologies. However, I tried to re-create him. This red & white beast is a Bates out of anown Cunia daughter whose dam was essentially a full sibling to Bates mother! This Cuniacow is now 14 years old and looks like she is about 6. We sold Bates mother when she was23 and weighed about 1680 lbs. Trust me folks, these genetics can’t be duplicated. Youwill not find cattle bred like this or built like this anywhere in the world. We are sellingchoice of possession and 1/2 semen interest. This might be the biggest thing to hit theclub calf industry since Heat Wave! If raising slick shorn cattle is your business, then youbetter make it a point to see this calf before Nov. 21st! He is so damn stout & cool looking,it is actually kinda funny! TH & PHA carrier. Remember, PANDA’s mother is a Bates!

Lot 86HUSTON 121SIRE: Meyer 734DAM: Panda (Friction x Bates)

This is the Meyer 734 bull prospect that many have stopped by to study! I sure don’t thinkanyone has been disappointed after their visit. Even Jon Webster, who stopped by the daythe wind reached 60 mph. I will be the first to admit of my addiction to Meyer 734 genet-ics. People wanted to know why waste a flush on such a valuable female to Meyer 734.Well, this bull is exactly why I wanted to “waste” a flush to Meyer. This bull is exactly whatwe ALL have been waiting for. We can breed anything we want to him. He is TH & PHAclean. He is as hairy as they come. And, oh yea, he is out of what I honestly think is themost impressive looking cow I’ve EVER seen. We are selling Spring breeding possessionand 1/2 semen interest. The breeding possession is good for 70 days each Spring.

The Right to Flush

Here is a golden opportunity for everyone in the club calf world. A chance to flush the only Shorthorn appearing TH & PHA clean Bates

daughter that I know of. This cow is one of the most unique looking femalesyou will ever find in your journeys. We transferred 7 out of One & Only and 4 out of Walks Alone. I’d say Friction is the most logical choice goingforward. She is open and ready to flush now. You will be guaranteed 8 embryos. Work to be done by Westwood Genetics of Waverly, IA.
