Huntington North High School Band Parents & Boosters Organization Post Office Box 561 - Huntington, Indiana 46750 Meeting Minutes November 16,2016 Call to order- Mark Johnston Directors’ report- Mr. Petek: Small group of individuals went to State and National Marching Band finals in Indianapolis. Need to encourage students to do Solo and Ensemble. Deadline for Solo and Ensemble is November 28 th . A student volunteered to design the show patch for Challenger show. Band received $1,000 in new equipment from the school corporation. Some items purchased were a vibraphone, drum heads, music stands, cymbal stands, practice pads etc….. Reading of the minutes Was read and approved. Treasurer’s Report: Was read and approved. Current checkbook balance as of 10/31/2016- $13,149.08. New business: Florida Trip Nathan Vogues from Bob Rogers travel presented information on the Florida trip tentatively scheduled for 3/23-3/28 2018. Estimated cost for Disney trip for 4 days is $850 per person. Full payment will be due January 2018. Goal is to get two full charter buses (100 people) for the trip. In doing so it will help with the cost of the trip. Committee Reports: Winter Guard is in need of Chaperones, a Pit crew and parents who are willing to help with transporting the winter Guard and their equipment. Fundraising: November 21 st at 5:30 Cake Roll pickups door 34. Poinsettias sales are 11/16- 11/30. Old Business: It was decided to sell the remaining Band Cards at the Christmas concert and Basketball games at 50% off of original price. Regular Business: A motion was brought forth to purchase 2 six foot folding tables to replace the current tables used to serve food for the Marching Band and Winter Guard. Motion was approved to purchase tables. Motion also brought forth to purchase a cart to move food supplies from place to place. Motion to purchase cart was approved. New Business: Winter Guard would like to purchase 2 more Sabers at a cost of $50 each. Will be making the first set of flags to save money. Currently 11 girls are signed up for Winter Guard. Had discussion on what to do with the outgoing Seniors overage balances for Fair Share. Decided to form a scholarship fund to be used for students needing help with their fair share due to unforeseen circumstances. No decision made. Also an opportunity for funding to help with needs of the band. Need to decide what needs to purchased up to $3,500. Tabled to next meeting.
