AER There when you need it most

If youre lucky, you will never need the services of Army Emergency Relief and the money you pledge this month will never come back to you personally.

Thousands of Soldiers feel the same way. Until .

Several years ago, there was an accident in a Camp Humphreys hangar where a young soldier suffered a disfiguring injury.

Young, alone, scared and from an improvised Family, she needed someone by her side.

AER to the rescue -- flying her mother from Philadelphia, putting Mom up at the Dragon Hill and having her at her daughters side for the surgery.

Camp Humphreys Soldiers received thousands of dollars in the form of grants or no-interest loans from AER last year for emergency leaves or other financial crises. You probably know some of them.

So when youre asked if you want to make an AER pledge, say Yes. Who knows? You could be the next one who needs a hand, and AER will be there.

  • Open Recreation starts May 5 for CYSS youngsters

Open Recreation for children in the first through fifth grades will be held in the School Age Center (SAC) building from 1100-1500 on the first and third Saturday of each month starting May 5.

All children in that age group are welcome, but they must be registered with CYSS in order to participate. CYSS registration is free of charge as it is being paid through the Army Family Covenant, and can be accomplished at Parent Central.

Children will be able to participate in a variety of activities of their own choosing. However, if they want to roller skate in the gym, they will have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Contact SAC Director Tiffany Harris at 753-8507 (031-690-85-7) for more information.

    Special classes just for parents

Two classes of special interest to all Camp Humphreys parents are scheduled for the Child Development Center (CDC) this month the first on May 14 dealing with Child Abuse Prevention and the second on May 31, dealing with Children and Moving.

Both classes are scheduled for 1130-1230. Call Outreach Director Patrina Tremel at 753-8274 (031-690-8274)for more information.
