To curate the best content (local and global), we start by running roundtable discussion groups (RTDs) for face-to-face research with SAP customers for each community.

Each RTD includes 15 – 20 participants and runs for four hours where challenges, trends and technology

investment plans are discussed.

This unique process ensures pure and accurate research is generated through debate and discussion.

In August, 120+ SAP customers attended RTDs in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.

The outcome of this is an in-depth Research Report for each of the 6 conferences.

rithms assist in selection for much needed skills, generating great data insights.

As Fonterra implements the SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding and Recruitment modules, they are

WHO ARE YOU AND HOW THE H#LL DID YOU GET HERE?

NATHAN HARDING

Training Analyst

CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM)

CITIC Pacific Mining operates an isolated, highly diverse Mine Site that goes beyond the traditional Mining Operations, as it incorporates a Port, Power Station, Desalination, 6x line Processing and Dewatering Plant. This means they use many contingent workers not only for operations but for minor and major maintenance shutdowns (~1000 workers mobilised for a 10-day major site shutdown).

This poses as a massive challenge for our leaders to manage/coordinate such a large number of di-

rect and contingent workers from a number of different contracting companies to not only effective-

ly complete the schedule shutdown maintenance tasks but to most importantly ensure that all the

contingent workers not only have valid Australian Work Rights, but are correctly inducted for their

work area and trained to do the work that is required of them.

The SinoONE project challenge was to “Give access to the Right Information, to the Right People,

at the Right Time” which meant giving the people in our business access to all the information that

they required for their direct employees and contingent workers to ensure that they are able to as-

sign work with full confidence that they are competent and qualified to safely complete the tasks

assigned.

LEVERAGING ONE CORE SAP PLATFORM

BRIE MOFFETT (USA)

Director – HRIS – Compensation & Benefits

Mobile Mini, Inc

After defining their HCM strategy, Mobile Mini had two options for their HR Technology strategy; best in breed or leveraging one core platform. After weighing the pros and cons of each they chose to leverage one core SAP platform. At the time things like the employee experience, one source of truth for data, standardization of process and shared services were pri-mary drivers of the decision.

Over the past three years they’ve been able to support their HCM strategy with one core SAP plat-

form to achieve things like supporting the growth of the organisation by becoming more agile, shift

what they value by providing pay transparency, continuous feedback and career pathing, develop a

‘workplace for me’ by introducing health and wellness initiatives to meet employees where they are

at, and make data driven decisions by having a holistic view of our employees.

DEVELOPING A PATH TO ORG CHART SUCCESS AT THE BUREAU OF METEOROLOGYSimone will show and provide an overview of the phases in the Bureau’s journey from manual org charts with poor quality data, to launching mul-tiple dynamic charts that are integrated with SAP.

The Bureau uses org.manager to provide staff with complete visibility across the organisation, in-

cluding reporting lines, staff photos, when staff are on leave, First Aid Officers and much more.

The new org chart has delighted and connected staff, and additional charts provide managers with

quick and easy access to critical HR information. This is a ‘good news’ story of what can be achieved

with some commitment to data cleansing, and a vision to aligning integrated platforms for the de-

GET PREPARED FOR SUCCESSFUL DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND SIGNIFICANT ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE

JAMES CARLOPIO

Consultant

Research consistently indicates that between 50% and 80% of ERP imple-mentations, organisational re-engineering (BPR) and change efforts fail to deliver promised benefits.

• Why does this consistently continue to happen?

• What are the major issues leading to failure?

• What are the key factors that truly make a difference toward success?

While we must get the “technical” installation issues correct when implementing an ERP system,

this is not a sufficient condition to ensure a successful implementation. Renowned Transformational

Change expert, James Carlopio, will distinguish implementation from installation and will help you

identify the required structural and cultural changes you’ll need to make in your organisation’s social

systems and within individuals, in order to achieve digital transformation.

James has worked on projects for Rio Tinto, IBM, Australian Federal Police, the ABC, Telstra, Op-

tus, SAP, AMP, NRMA, CBA, Australian Defense Industries and General Motors in the areas of organ-

isational change, strategy design and implementation, innovation and new technology, applying

design principles, personal change and influence, organisational and management development,

and more recently on cultural cyber security. His education has focused on psychology with a B.A.

(Springfield, MA.), an M.A. (University of Manitoba, Canada) and a Ph. D. in Applied and Organisation-

DRIVING ADOPTION, ACCEPTANCE AND PRODUCTIVITY IN THE WORLD OF SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION

MATTHEW KENT

Chief Financial Officer

GPC

In the coming years SAP customers are going to need to implement SAP S/4HANA. This can be seen as a systems change but even more so, it’s a Mindshift change.

This new solution may cause disruptions, constraints and be a new way of doing things which will

inevitably cause negative sentiment and lower employee morale. As leaders in our businesses, it’s

our job to educate and inspire the workforce to lead a successful implementation. This can be solved

though a simple reorientation of the status quo and challenging why ‘that was the normal’ to begin

with.

Matthew will take you through how he led the change management of a global role out and won

over the hearts and mind of Finance and beyond through an emphasis on training and communica-

tion. Whether you’re from IT, Finance or Operations, the principles are the same. Achieving the right

change management practices can be the difference between success and failure.

IT transformation projects are often guided by business but lead by IT. This can create a misalignment of value for effort, and frustration soon creeps in. Creating working groups that represent the business (to evaluate pro-cess requirements) as well as technologists (to manage constraints and capabilities) creates a streamlined approach to development.

So how do you manage a transformation project when teams’ expectations need to be managed,
