THEORY To perform dilution from prepared 1000 ppm caffeine standard

solution we need to use this equation:

M1V1 = M2V2

The area of the peak is proportional to the concentration of that particular species in sample.

The standard identity can be used as a comparison with the experimental one. Identical substances will have its own peak as well as retention times.
