community arts festival, was a huge success! The hundreds of festival goers who gathered at Long Reach Village Center on Saturday, June 20th en-joyed fantastic live musical performances; artist demon-strations ranging from wa-tercolor to chainsaw carving; hands-on arts activities for kids and families including piñata-making and origami; indoor and outdoor art exhib-its; roving jugglers and stilt-walkers, and so much more!

At noon, County Execu-tive Allan Kittleman, Howard County Council Chair Mary Kay Sigaty, Council member

Calvin Ball, and other officials were on hand for the unveiling of the village center’s beautiful new mosaic mural Metamorphosis, created by community members under the direction of artist Susan Stockman.

It truly does ‘take a village’ to put on such a huge event! With that in mind, we’d like to thank everyone who helped make the day possible, including our ARTreach partners—Celebration Church, Columbia Association, Columbia Association Art Center, Columbia Festival of the Arts, Howard County, and Long Reach Community Association; all of the Howard County officials who attended; the many volunteers who worked diligently to ensure that ARTreach was a success; our wonderful musical performers and demonstrating artists; the Long Reach businesses who lent their support; and of course, everyone who came out to experience and enjoy the arts!
