How To Replace The GBA SP LCD ScreenView Original_____________________________________________________

This guide works with both newer and older version GBA SP handhelds.

Get all of your necessary tools together.

1) Screen's seem to break all to often on GBA SP's. Changing the screen is not very difficult. In this tutorial you will notice the case will change colors, disregard that if you can.

2) Let's begin...

3) Take out the screw and remove the battery cover.

4) Remove the battery.

5) Take out the 6 triwing screws.

View Original

6) pull the bottom cover from the top like shown below. Try your best to keep the R & L buttons in place.

7) Take out the 3 screws holding down the motherboard.

8) Gently pull the board up.

View Original

9) Push the latch downward and remove the ribbon cable. This cable connects the top screen to the motherboard.

10) Remove the buttons.

11) Remove the speaker.

View Original

12) Take out the screw shown below.

13) After taking out the screw above you will be able to remove the piece shown below.

14) Using your knife take off the 5 pads.

15) Take out the 5 screws. Newer bright screen GBA SP systems will have regular philips screws whereas older version GBA SP systems will have triwing screws.

16) Remove the top.

17) Pull out the top screen.

View Original

18) Gently pull off the screen protector and put it on your new screen you will be installing. Make sure to line it up correctly.

19) Your GBA SP should be completely bare now.

20) Place the new top screen in place and route the ribbon cable back through the hole shown in the picture below.

21) Place the top piece back on.

22) Put the 5 screws back in.

23) Alright, their back in good job.

24) Put the piece shown below back on.

View Original

25) Screw down the piece you just put back in the above step.

26) Place your buttons back in place and the speaker.

27) Plug back in the top screen ribbon cable to the motherboard. Make sure to secure it in w/ the tab.

28) Put the 3 screws back in place.

29) Make sure the piece being pointed to in the below picture is in place.

30) Put the top and bottom case together. PLEASE NOTE: Make sure that the on/off button lines up correctly together on the top and bottom case. Also make sure to try and keep the R & L buttons in place.

31) Put the 6 triwing screws back in place.

32) Place the battery back in place.

View Original

33) Place the battery cover back on and screw it down.

34) Put the 5 tabs back in.

35) Your GBA SP should now be ready to go.
