“Each of these faces tells a story. Many tell a grim story of disappointment, hurts and unmet needs. But no face tells a more poignant story than the faces of children who found hope in change. These are the faces we see every day here at Wedgwood. Faces searching for answers and solutions to the pains that they bear. Faces that yearn to find the love and caring we all deserve. Faces that need to know that in Christ there is hope...hope in change.” - Former Wedgwood Employee In this book are expressions of art, poetry and writings from the children we serve at Wedgwood Christian Services. These are the faces we see every day here at Wedgwood. Faces searching for answers and solutions to the pains that they bear. Faces that yearn to find the love and caring we all deserve. In this book are expressions of art, poetry and writings from the children we serve at Wedgwood Christian Services. These expressions give us insight into the struggles these children have faced as well as how God has touched their lives. As you read on, we invite you to offer your prayers to God for these children as you read, in their own words, what difficulties they have had to overcome and what their hopes are for the future.

Our Hope for Him and His Love for Us

One day he will comeOut of parting skies. One day he will comeHealing all our lives.

His love is forgiving,And also very true.

His love is worth livingHis love for me and you.

But our hope and faithMust be strong enough,Even though our times

Get rough.

Even though we’ve done wrong, He has loved us all along.

Back to him we should give,Our hope and love that we’ve lived.

Part of life is having hope And through our troubles

We will cope.

Dear Staff,

How could I ever express to you all how thankful and touched I have been by your kindness over the last nine months? I know that you have all said that you are just doing your job, but you have gone way beyond the call of duty. I truly feel that you all care so much and have such a passion for that you do.

This is going to be a sad and happy passage in my life all at the same time. I will never forget you guys. I feel as if you have been a part of our family. I want to thank you for your endless support of me as a parent. I want to thank you for teaching and coaching me to learn how to take care of me. I want to thank you for making me want to laugh when I wanted to cry. I want to thank you for helping me stand tall and hold it together when I thought I couldn’t. I want to thank you for nudging me to be more optimistic.

And thank you all for the endless hours you spent with my child in guiding him, praying with him (and for him), and truly caring about him. It will be hard for him to leave all of his angels—which you all are!

I will never forget your kindness,A Grateful Parent

Wedgwood is making a measurable difference in the lives of those we serve, however, the need to address hurting youth and families in our community continues to grow. There are many ways you can help us continue to make a difference to children in need of Wedgwood’s services:

You can give your prayers. Remember to pray for the young people we serve and for the staff who touch their lives each day as we strive to rebuild lives and families in Christ’s image.

You can give your time. Serve as a mentor to our young people, or in valuable facility and clerical support roles.

You can open your home. Become a foster parent or home provider, providing a loving and supportive home to a young person in need.

You can make a gift by visiting www.wedgwood.org

In all cases, your support makes a difference in lives of the young people we serve. To learn more call (616) 942-2110 or visit www.wedgwood.org.
